Very nice place! Gene was very kind! Loved how big it was to fix the whole family without being on top of one another. Would recommend this place and would love to stay there again!
Great location. Close to stores but quiet where you felt like you were far from city noise. Parking excellent. Clean. Host gets five stars!!

Perfect Family Getaway
The home was perfect for our needs and preferences. The peace and serenity of the property coupled with the convenience of it being close to town made this home the ultimate getaway. Gene is friendly and accommodating and a pleasure to work with. My family has stayed at this home twice and we are already making plans for another trip in the future.
The house was perfect for our family who were gathering for a funeral. The beds were comfy and the house was roomy enough for all of us. Everyone loved the house and the lovely decor. Thanks so much for allowing us to stay with you.
Private location with plenty of boat parking. We had 3 boats and 3 other vehicles and had no parking issues. Only 5 minutes to the hatchery ramp.We will be back!
When I entered the property I had some reservations, but being a country boy at heart, it suited us very nicely. Unique property if I one is looking for peace and tranquility , this property fits the bill! The nostalgia is off the charts.
We loved the quiet setting, yet the property was still very convenient to Hot Springs. Everything was very clean! We wish we had allowed more time to be at the house to fish more in the pond, explore all of the trails on the property, and have longer for the kids to play in the creek on the property. The house is a great place to stay and you do not have to go anywhere to have something to do! We also loved that the house could accommodate a crowd comfortably; we were all able to share meals together at the long dining table. We hope to return to this house; we loved our stay!
Wow! This was like staying in a liveable museum. All the comforts & conveniences of home, but it felt like being a world away. The beauty of the surrounding property was an unexpected bonus, because the pictures didn't show too much of the area around the home. My family especially enjoyed the variety of hiking trails--so much to see and explore.
Even though the property feels very secluded, it was extremely convenient to get to the nearby grocery/shopping/restaurants. And, of course, to the main attractions of Hot Springs.
The owner was very friendly, helpful, and flexible with check-in and making sure we had all the info we needed about the house and the surrounding trails.
This was a wonderful place to have a family getaway.
Look, if your family or a group of friends looking for the perfect place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the city, then this is the perfect place. This property is so peaceful and in my opinion should be a National Landmark. Getting to hear the history of this place and feeling the love that was put into this place is indescribable. The host was a Saint, absolutely the best we have ever had. Very friendly and super responsive. We accidentally left an entire bag of clothes and the host went and got them, dried them and shipped them to me. Just not enough words to express our gratitude. Thank you so much
When looking for a place, our friends and my family like to find unique stays that are close to the areas we want to hike. The Saltbox provided that and more. We were within 15-20 minutes of Galvan Woodland Gardens, Hot Springs National Park, Mid American Science Museum, and Lake Catherine State Park. The home was built to resemble 1770 style home of the north east with furniture to match the time period. There were several hikes on the property and we had a pond. Our kids were excited about the opportunity to fish. There was plenty of space for everyone and we took advantage of the large living room for games, crafts and eating at the beautiful old dining table. Gene was there to let us in, told us the history of the home and was easy to communicate with durning our stay.
it was great. i grew up in the country, so this was all the sounds and sights of home.
it's a great place to stay.
now for the, just so you know part.... we had little kids, and there is no dishes for them to just be kids with. everything is breakable. sit down at the table and eat.
not a bad thing, but we took paper plates just in case.
We did love the availability to let the kids outside and we went exploring with them, it was great.
There is nothing bad that was in any review i seen, now i know why. it's a great place. out of town, lots of room.
This was one of the best places we have stayed. We had plenty of space for three couples and five kids, without ever feeling cramped. Every single member of the families also loved the house, antique furniture (all over the house), and especially the surrounding environment. We went hiking, spent time by the pond, and grilled outside. We were also impressed by the number of beds, bathrooms, and plates for eating. It was also an easy drive into downtown Hot Springs. We would love to stay here again!

Overall, it’s a nice place. It’s older than the pics make it seem. It was clean, plenty of amenities, waking up to deer by the pond was a nice scene. The kids really enjoyed

Not What We Expected
The owner was superb but this log cabin was very unsettling. We were not comfortable, as there are several attics and doors that spooked us. The driveway us nothing but Debris and our cars looked like we can gone through a construction site. We did not feel comfortable cooking, as the place is very, very old looking. I understand the 1770's theme but this owner just rents. The grass looked like a forest. We actually tried to find another place after we arrived at the cabin, but was unsuccessful. We decided to tuff it out for the 2 days. We did not utilize the master bedroom downstairs, because we were all afraid and it was 6 adults in my party. To each its own!

Hi Robin, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed that this wasn't the one for you. We’ve passed your feedback along to the homeowner to make sure that future guests can have a five-star experience!
It was pretty cool stay. The house is very old and antique needs a major upgrade. The house is very huge and could fit more than 12. Comfortable needs to be cleaned with more products.
Five friends and myself needed some time away and to catch up. This house supplied the room we needed and the coziness we desired. Very clean. Gene was easily available to answer questions. The trails were awesome.

Perfect
If you’re looking for serenity and privacy, this house is great. The kitchen is full equipped with everything you need for preparing meals.
The design and decor of the house is fascinating, and has the feel of stepping back in time. It was great having all the private bed and bathrooms.
We hiked up the mountain in back to a quaint little cabin at the top. I’m not in the best of shape but managed it without much difficulty.
I would give this place 10 stars if I could. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a wonderful property full of great hiking trails, beautiful historic home, creeks and a nice fishing pond. We loved it! Definitely plan to come back.
