About this property
New Listing - Island View Cottage
Island View Cottage sits in a small fishing village overlooking Malaga Island and Casco Bay and provides a luxurious spot along the Maine coast to relax and unwind. You can be among the first to enjoy this professionally designed and newly built, air-conditioned cottage that is completely powered by the sun. One-level living makes it suitable for all ages – from crawling babies to folks who would prefer a place where they don't have to navigate stairs. And being at the end of a private lane, you can count on solitude and a chance to truly decompress during your visit.
At one end of Island View is a gorgeous great room with a cathedral ceiling. Loads of windows open to wonderful breezes and views of the bay and nearby islands. Settle into comfortable seating to relax, watch a movie, or read a book in the living area. When the evenings get chilly, the glow and ambience of the gas fireplace will welcome you home after a busy day. The partially covered deck off the living area gets you even closer to the shore and is a restful place to sit with your morning coffee. If you're an early riser, you can watch many of the local lobstermen set off for the day's haul. After dinner, you can sit in those same chairs and enjoy the sunset. The dining alcove seats six for meals and can easily convert to a work area with high-speed internet for anyone who needs to check in with the office while away. The spacious kitchen includes lots of storage, a full compliment of all you need to cook up a feast, a large island, dishwasher, and beautiful granite surfaces.
At the other end of the cottage is the master bedroom with a queen bed, television, and an en suite bathroom with dual sinks and tiled shower. A huge walk-in closet allows you to actually unpack instead of living out of your suitcase. In the center of the house are two more queen bedrooms and a second full bathroom. The great room and each of the three bedrooms has its own individual heating and cooling unit.
A pack 'n play, high chair, and baby gate are available to accommodate your smaller family members. Beach chairs and umbrella, a cooler, and a bag full of beach toys are also on hand for your trips to Popham Beach, Head Beach, or Totman Cove Preserve. The cottage does not have a washer/dryer, but most guests are able to pack enough for a week's visit. There are also two laundromats in Bath if you're here for a longer stay. A pass to Popham Beach State Park is included with your stay. Bring your own kayaks or rent from Seaspray and have them delivered to the cottage. If you’re just starting out, nearby Sebasco Harbor Resort offers lessons to get you acclimated.

We had an unbelievable 2 weeks and highly recommend. It is very kid and dog friendly. It is important to know that the neighboring houses are very close together, but we found everyone to be very friendly
Our stay was wonderful. The house is perfect for a family trip. Love that there are 3 queen beds. Great location for the family wedding that we attended. The views from the deck are great. Highly recommended!!!
I stayed 2 night's here & it was exceptionally clean & comfy. The location is perfect and very quiet. The king size bed was like like sleeping on a cloud. The owners thought of everything we would possibly need. I will definitely stay here again when I come to Branson!
Enjoyed a few beautiful days visiting Bath, Boothbay and Wiscasset. Our cottage was a bit remote, but the views were spectacular. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. We would most definitely do it again!!
I really enjoyed my long weekend stay at Island View. The house was very clean, cozy, stocked. The view was amazing and communication with Kathy was top-notch. The cove was fun to explore and I enjoyed looking for sea glass.
Wonderful house that was fully equipped and had beautiful water views from the deck. Nice gas fireplace and plenty of games for rainy days. Great location!
We had such a wonderful stay in Sebasco with our two young kids. Kathy's place was perfect - clean, a beautiful location overlooking the water, and so well equipped with everything we might have needed from kitchen supplies to games and books for the kids. It was a short drive to Popham Beach, which was a perfect spot to swim and play with the kids, and the house came with a beach pass. Perfect spot to spend a week!
Everything was well stocked, and the property manager was very responsive. Beautiful modern home with everything we needed for our stay. It was lovely looking out at the fishing boats. Couldn’t beat the view!
Beautiful home with a spectacular view. It was the most well stocked home we’ve ever stayed in. There were many great food options nearby and super neighbors who helped us a lot. The crabby lobster was a good place to pick up cooked, giant lobsters (just call ahead). We would definitely stay here again.
Kathy's home was amazing and located in such a spacious and quiet area of Maine. The price is extremely fair for what you are getting when you stay here! The bedrooms, kitchen, and bathrooms were all spotless and I am already looking forward to staying in Maine again in the future at Kathy's beautiful property. She was so welcoming, and helped us out with restaurant recommendations and directions. Thank you Kathy!
The house and host were fantastic. I was not prepared for the fact that the location was 20 minutes to the nearest town (Bath) and 50-60 minutes from Boothbay. I would say that this location is perfect if you are looking for beautiful scenery and escaping the busy and perhaps hectic life that you temporarily need a break from.
We had a very nice stay despite the rain in the beginning of our week. It is a beautiful house.
The only negative is that it is a good 30 minutes to Bath, where there are stores & convenience things. Also we had to go to Laundromat as there
is no washer. Or dryer.

When searching, travelers should always read the complete list of amenities. If an item isn't checked off, it's likely not available. Also, when scrolling through the listings, each one is highlighted on the zoomable map feature to the right, indicating where the property is located in relation to a nearby town, college, scenic attraction, and so forth.
This location is beautiful, the house is very nice and accommodated the family easily. Very clean and comfortable. Wonderful kitchen and 2- bathrooms!
Fresh sea air and fresh lobster what more could you ask for? This was our first Vrbo rental and we are impressed. We highly recommend. Kathy was easy to contact and responsive if we had any questions. Thank you Kathy, we absolutely loved it. We'll be back!
This lovely home is definitely away from the rat race! Arriving after dark was a little nerve racking, but what a pleasant surprise to awaken to the beautiful view off the deck!
Island View Cottage was very comfortable with plenty of room for the four of us to move around and not feel crowded. The kitchen is well equipped with anything you might need, including basic seasonings and spices. Comfortable beds and furniture, and quiet surroundings.
An extra special surprise was being able to arrange for the delivery of fresh lobster, which we cooked ourselves!
Kathy quickly responded to questions and offered many recommendations for dining and activities nearby.
If you’re looking to get away from the daily grind in a beautiful, peaceful setting, this is your destination.
The house was beautiful. I have a few suggestions for the owner. First, i think renters need to know how the water system works ahead of time & that they are expected to conserve water at the house as much as possible. Secondly, we didn't realize there was no washer/dryer at the property so that became a problem for us. Lastly, I highly recommend that the owner go down to the beach area by the house & pick up all the dog poop down there.
I have never seen so much dog poop in my life. You can't walk in that area without stepping in poop. It smelled bad & ruined our walks to the beach area. Thanks.

First, hopefully everyone is conserving water these days, not just when they're on vacation. Secondly, prospective guests should always read the list of amenities. If the washer/dryer boxes aren't checked off, that means there aren't any at the property. Or double check with the owner when she asks if you have any questions. Lastly, it's the Canada geese, not dogs, doing what they do. I'll definitely include a warning to future guests this fall.
Island View is a lovely home in a small mid-Coast Maine community and we thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. The house is nicely remodeled with a well equipped kitchen and all the items needed for preparing meals and then some. The back deck was lovely for sitting and enjoying the view. The beds were comfortable and there is tons of storage space. The home is very close to others but all immediate neighbors were lovely. AC was appreciated but fortunately not needed as there is great air flow with the windows open.
We love this part of Maine and found our favorite spots easily accessible like Freeport, Brunswick, Monkey C Monkey Do, Boothbay and Popham Beach (pass included).
Kathy was a wonderful host and communicated all the essentials but just a few things to note: a house is currently being built nextdoor from the ground up and the construction noise was significant during the day. Fortunately we were busy elsewhere most days. Also, doing laundry at the laundromat is a time commitment so pack accordingly to try and avoid needing to do any. We managed to find a nice one in Freeport and shopped between loads. Finally, the water access is good for launching kayaks and paddle boards but not much else. There is no dock access for the fisherpeople in our group and the goose poop and seaweed limited playing or wading close to the waters edge.

Prospective guests should always read the list of amenities. If the washer/dryer boxes aren't checked off, that means they're aren't any at the property. Be sure to check with the owner if you are unsure of what's provided. We're glad to answer any and all questions.
I'm a retired middle school English teacher and live in Phippsburg, just a few miles from my cottage. After a couple years, I really missed being at school and have gone back to substitute. Just a glutton for punishment, I guess! I have two adult children and one grandson, six years old and the best little boy ever.
Why they chose this property
I demolished an old, run-down family cottage and over the course of nearly a year, rebuilt it from the ground up. Because it gets full sun for most of the day, I decided to invest in solar panels. It was finally finished in July 2019, and I couldn't be happier with the results! I think everyone who stays here will agree that it was worth the wait.
What makes this property unique
Island View is at the end of a little dirt cul-de-sac and is one of just a few other cottages. Located in the small fishing village of Sebasco, it sits directly across from Malaga Island at the mouth of the New Meadows River. It's an amazingly peaceful spot.
