The cottage is minutes from great restaurants, breweries, hiking trails, and shopping. The most amazing sunsets and soaring bald eagles will surely bring joy to your stay.

This  new construction one bedroom/one bath cottage overlooks peaceful Middle Bay offering tidal waters that bring stunning ocean views and wildlife. With 600 square feet of open-concept space, this cottage was designed to maximum the space while maintaining elegance and style. The Salty Roost is custom designed with large windows and sliding glass doors on both levels, offering plenty of sunlight and views of the ocean from the balcony. A private yard is the perfect place to relax in the hammock chairs or prepare fresh seafood on the grill. Want to paddle around the bay? Kayaks and stand-up paddleboard available for your use upon request.

The cottage is located on the northern end of the quant fishing town of Harpswell, one of Maine's true hidden gems. With the population of 5,000 summer residents, Harpswell has more coastline than any other town in Maine, boasting 216 miles of rocky and sandy coast. Harpswell is uniquely comprised of two sides: an islands side where three islands are connected with causeways/bridges, and an 8-mile long peninsula side where the cottage is located. A scenic drive down the islands and peninsula is a must-do when visiting Harpswell.

Guest have access to the entire cottage, front lawn, dock, and the neighborhood which offers a stunning ocean view walk in the neighborhood. Our main home is adjacent to the guest cottage, sharing the same driveway.

The Salty Roost is located in a quiet neighborhood, off a private paved road where you can take a peaceful stroll around one of two loops and find panoramic views of the ocean. Take a walk to the dock where you will find a mix of wildlife including seals, shore birds, eagles, ospreys, eiders, and great blue herons. It isn't unusual for an eagle to fly over the cottage where you will get a close up view of these majestic animal.

Our family of three (Lisa, Bob, and 11 year old, Acadia) lives in the beautiful coastal fishing town of Harpswell, Maine. We love to travel to Costa Rica during the winter. The biodiversity, wildlife, and culture are a few of what attracts us to this small, but rich Central American country. We anticipate our annual vacation to this warmer climate during Maine's winters.

Bob, a well-known local builder, designed and built the Winter Street Rental with simplicity in mind, splurging on some amenities that we consider to be important. We love to cook, so we incorporated a full kitchen, wide open to the living area. Maine winters are long, and bright indoor spaces are a necessity which was the inspiration to add large windows throughout. With over 30 years of building experience, he realized that wheelchair accessibility was something that was missing in the rental community. Bob built this unit so all could enjoy, even those with mobility challenges.

Lisa, a five-time national Olympic-style boxing champion and coach, left her career as an Environmental Health and Safety Director to pursue personal boxing training and be more available for six year old, Acadia. She operates The Boxing Studio located in Topsham, where she offers personal training through boxing to improve fitness and build confidence.

Acadia, named after the magnificent Acadia National Park, has her own egg farm along with a collection of other farm animals. She loves all things outdoors, and spends a lot of her time at her farm and playing with her cat.

We enjoy being outdoors, hiking, traveling, farming, and being out on the water. We love hosting because we meet so many wonderful people in which many become long-lasting friends who we look forward to returning each year.
