About this property
Birregurra Escape Private Getaway. Birregurra, The Otways, Lorne, Forrest
Our 2 bedroom, architecturally designed home sits on 2.5 acres and is surrounded by fields. With floor to ceiling windows looking out into native gardens, vegetable beds, fruit trees and grassy areas our place is surrounded by rolling fields on all sides, with a long sweeping view to the Otways.
We regularly use the house ourselves so it has a comfortable feel, with lots of games, books, kitchen supplies and herbs to pick in the garden. We love coming down to the peace and quiet, sitting by the fire or heading to the beach.
Each bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. One bedroom has a queen bed, the other a double. On request we can make up the double futon mattress for an extra guest on the living room floor or in the bedroom for younger kids to sleep.
An open fire place in the living room is wonderful in winter. The open dining room seats 6. Floor to ceiling windows throughout the house give magical glimpses of the gardens and fields beyond, including the occasional rainbow, kangaroo, herd of cows or sheep and the Otway ranges. There are books and magazines galore plus games for young and old. Please note there is no internet at the house, we just use hotspot. The kitchen has all the herbs and spices, vinegars and bits and bobs we use which are available to guests if they need.
We are a 90 minute drive from Melbourne and 5kms from the town of Birregurra. 3km to Brae Restaurant, 30 minutes to the beaches of Lorne, Angelsea and Aireys Inlet and 40 minutes to Apollo Bay.
The property used to be the site of Ripplevale Primary School and the present home was built in 2001.

About the host
Hosted by Kim Riley
We are Kim, Tim, Craig and Anna - two couples who bought the property together over a decade ago as a retreat from city life. Since then we (both couples) have had children but we all still love going to the property, even more so now with our young families. We have rented the property over this time to other people seeking a relaxing time in Birregurra for many reasons. Lately most of our guests are going to dine at Brae restaurant and our house is perfect for two couples wanting to get away and enjoy a fine dining weekend. We have a spare futon for the floor so taking the kids along is an option too, or if a third couple don't mind sleeping in the loungeroom or in near the fireside
Why they chose this property
As soon as we visited the property we knew that it would bring peace to our busy city lives, a counterbalance to the concrete jungle. It immediately spoke to us. Luckily we saw it just as it went on the market.
