Lovely little getaway!
Beautiful property - such a cosy little place and I'll definitely go back in the near future :)
Thanks so much! We hope to see you again soon too!
Stylish but not particuarly functional
To echo the sentiments of the previous review, this place is not a secluded and private as the photos would lead one to believe. The cottage is on a crossroads - so roads on two sides, and some kind of farming/commercial operation on the other. We received phone calls from people trying to contact staff there, and another person wanting to supply services to the business. We had people in our line of sight frequently, and accessing the storage shed right next to the cottage. They did attempt to be discrete, but we did wonder what the arrangement was. The glass door on the shower looks directly out on to the road, and if one were to consider taking an outdoor bath, they would find that it is actually wedged between the cottage and the shed with the road at the back...I felt exposed. Temperature control in the shower fluctuated wildly, the wifi was spasmodic, and there was no gas bottle for the barbeque, a paucity of tea towels and spare towels (needed because of drainage issues in the bathroom), the fireplace was only really functional with the door ajar, and therefore supervised - the flue likely needs a clean. There was no information or guidebook about the property boundaries and walking trails within. HOWEVER, there were many redeeming qualities: the cottage is pretty and stylishly furnished. We appreciated the fresh flowers throughout, the quality Australian organic bathroom products, the quality linen and appliances (especially the coffee machine). The outlook out the front over the paddock was beautiful. We were given the kind offer of flexibility with our check in time, but yes, at the full tarrif, expensive for what's on offer presently.
Hi Lara, Thanks for sharing your feedback with us - it's very welcome and we appreciate hearing about areas of the farm that we can improve as it's our first priority to make the guest experience a memorable and positive one. We're sorry that some elements of your stay didn't live up to scratch. We have taken on board your comments above and have made some changes so that future guests benefit from your experiece, including offering more towels and planting a creeper that will help increase the screening from the roadside when in the bath. It's unfortunate that the WiFi was sporadic - it's generally pretty good considering we are in a rural valley but we're sorry if you were inconvenienced. Since your stay, we've completed a guestbook with walking trails that we will soon have in the cottage with information about all the great day-trips nearby. We do have a couple of farmhands on site as we are a working property but they should have respected your privacy more and not have entered the area around the cottage while you were present, and we've passed this feedback on and apologies. We've just completed some final renovations on The Shed at Broger's End, so if you do stay with us again mid-week, it should be much more peaceful and we would be happy to offer you a $50 discount as our way of making up to you. Thank you for the kind compliments on our furnishings - we really do endeavour to share a relaxing and beautiful piece of the world with our guests.
This is a cute and comfortable place to stay and we enjoyed our 2 nights. There are however, a couple of drawbacks. There is no cover outside so if it is raining you won't be able to use the BBQ. Also, the kitchen is well appointed in terms of kitchen utensils and cooking items, but there is no salt, pepper, sugar, etc... Make sure to bring your own!
Brogers End own the very close adjacent property and unfortunately for us there were people working there during our stay so the early wake up call from the chainsaw on both mornings was not ideal :( The chainsaw was going on and off from 8am-5pm on the first day and started again before 8am on the second day. Not quite tranquility!!! In addition, there is a shed next to the outdoor bathtub (which is great for night time use by the way) that houses supplies for both properties. During our stay someone needed to come into the property to get stuff from the shed, lucky we weren't in the bathtub! Great little place, but for the price tag a few things need sorting.
Dear Rachel, Thanks very much for taking the time to give feedback on your recent stay at Broger's End. I'm sorry that a few things weren't right during your stay, and I'll make sure to rectify these immediately. Normally there are salt and pepper mills in the dairy, as well as tea, coffee and sugar. I"m not sure why they weren't there for you, but my cleaner should have noticed they were missing before you checked in. For future, I have made a detailed check list for her, so hopefully nothing will get missed. I have some farmhands who work at the farm, mainly around the Shed. I told them when they arrived how important it is to respect the privacy of guests and the peace and quiet around the dairy. Although there are some supplies in the small shed next to the dairy, they should not have gone there while you were there, or if it was absolutely necessary, there is a bell at the gate that they are meant to ring loudly before entering the garden. I'm sorry you didn't go over and ask the farmhand to stop chainsawing, as he would have done so immediately! The cost of a weekend at the dairy is not just for the accommodation. There are 160 acres of walking tracks and gardens to explore, as well as produce from the gardens for you to enjoy. We are accredited at the highest level with EcoTourism Australia, which means we use only renewable energy and sustainable practises, which means our upkeep is higher than other accommodation. I think our price is very reasonable for what is on offer. Thanks once again for taking the time to provide feedback. If you would like to come another time, I would like to offer you $50 off your next visit as a small way of saying sorry for the chainsaw. :) Kind regards Sarah

My husband and I were keen for a weekend out of Sydney to relax and recharge. Kangaroo Valley is our regular spot as it never disappoints. This was our first stay at Broger's End and we are so thrilled we found it!! We arrived on a Friday night after work to find the owner had already left the place with lights on and a lovely warm fire burning - we loved this! The location of the cottage in Upper Kangaroo River we especially liked as this is our favourite part of Kangaroo Valley. The cottage is so beautifully decorated. We loved the outdoor bath and the very comfy bed.We highly recommend this place, especially if you're looking for a romantic weekend away!
