When you return after an evening of exploring, it's to a home like no other in Copenhagen. We spent a year turning two old tenements into bright, beautiful hideaway for our books, art, cooking pots... and our guests.
The pictures tell the whole story – a designer kitchen with its own curl-up alcove; the heated floor under the rainfall shower is handmade Moroccan tile; the peaceful yard is the place to feast on cherries and raspberries in Summer, three kinds of apples in Fall.
This is an old workers' neighborhood, where children play in the streets, and you can hear the clink of dishes when folks eat in their back yards. We live in a separate apartment upstairs so, unless you need something, you'll probably only see us in the stairwell or the back yard. We know Copenhagen well, and will be happy to answer all your questions, suggest places to visit, and offer any assistance you might need.
Other Things to Note
The washer and drier are in a basement laundry room, which we also use. Our half of the lovely back garden is all yours, but note that it adjoins our neighbor's back patio, which they like to enjoy. For more openness, we removed the fence between our properties, but we don't use each other's yards.
The neighborhood
This is one of the most peaceful neighborhoods in Copenhagen. It's the perfect base to discover Denmark, but don't be surprised if your favorite days are spent right here, over a late breakfast in the back garden.
