We are locals and rented this house for a wedding weekend. This house was an excellent location for us and the layout suited our needs very well. I'm taking away a star because the home is unclean and the kitchen was poorly stocked/organized. The floors need to be properly cleaned, bathroom walls had dusty water marks all over them, vents needed vacuumed off and in the loft, our kids found a used sanitary pad. This is a great home but the property management needs to pay more attention to the cleanliness of the home.

The property was dirty and seemed run down. Worse, the were plumbing problems resulting in wet floors, suitcases, clothing, and laptop. Issues were addressed but not fully resolved. That said, VRBO was very helpful in making things right "after the fact".

Our stay at Gunnison Retreat was excellent. The hosts were always very easy to communicate with and were incredibly friendly throughout our stay. The location was perfect for enjoying the mountains of Crested Butte and Monarch. We had plenty of space and clean rooms and towels for the whole family, and the kids loved the attic room. We would love to come back next season.

Property is close to the highway which made it easy for us to head to Blue Mesa. I few items that needed attention were that some of the windows are very dirty, especially down stair. It was disgusting to look out them. The recliner in the living room has leather that falls off every time you sit in it. The outdoor grill had not been cleaned, inside or out! Also, the doors on the inside of the property need to be dusted.The patio (front porch) was very comfortable and enjoyable just to relax. The beds were comfortable as well. Our 2 grandsons enjoyed the loft.Our major problem was WATCH OUT FOR RACCOONS at night time. We were warned not to leave trash on the portch, which we didn't do. However, not thinking we left snacks on our boat under the seat which the raccoons managed to get into. They did damage the seat on the boat so now we have to get it reupholstered.The host was very easy to get in contact with and was very pleasant.

We enjoyed our stay here - the house was clean and comfortable. Check-in process was very easy. The kids loved the trampoline and climbing tree and swings in the backyard! Would stay here again!

Great layout and excellent location—just 5 minutes from town, Dos Rios Golf Club, and Hartman Rocks Recreational Area, and only 30 minutes to Crested Butte and Elk Creek Marina. The owner was very accommodating.

Unfortunately, our experience with this VRBO rental was extremely disappointing. Our reservation was canceled by the owner approximately three hours before our scheduled check-in time. We were told there were “unforeseen circumstances,” but no further explanation was provided.The timing of the cancellation created a major hardship, as this occurred during a busy weekend with several local events taking place. Lodging in the area was extremely limited, and despite searching extensively, we were unable to find another rental within a 45-minute radius.What made the situation even more frustrating was the lack of support afterward. The property management company directed us to VRBO for assistance but offered no meaningful help or alternatives.Our experience with VRBO customer service was equally disappointing. We were provided with three replacement options, only to discover that all three had already been rented to other guests and were not actually available. We were then transferred to an overseas call center where the representatives did not seem to understand the urgency or details of our situation and were unable to provide a solution.We understand that emergencies happen, but canceling a reservation only hours before check-in during a high-demand weekend left us with virtually no options and completely disrupted our travel plans.

The entire experience couldn't have been better. We loved the warmth and comfort of the home, and all the amenities were provided. The location and outdoor spaces were phenomenal. Our kids especially loved the trampoline, climbing tree, swings, and petting zoo next door at the KOA. The indoor spaces, while adequate, could use some maintenance. The downstairs bathroom suffered from a difficult-to-adjust faucet and clogged drain, the living room ceiling light fixture was smashed, the dishwasher drawers didn’t roll out, and there were cobwebs and dust throughout the house. We’d love to return, should the property manager give the house a little TLC.

Excellent location and a lot of space.

We enjoyed the location, the decor and the updates to the house. We saw a lot of wear and tear and a need for some additional updates and deep cleaning. I am sure that it is an uphill battle to maintain the cleanliness of a group vacation home. Temps are hard to maintain between upstairs and downstairs and heating system is very loud at night. Dining space is limited for a group. Extra linens and some basic items (seasonings and foil, etc) were appreciated! Beautiful outdoor setting and play area for kids.

Western CO University Family Weekend

This property was amazing! What a beautiful home with deer in the backyard. So, wonderful... We invited my kids' friends over for dinner. They jumped on the trampoline and viewed the deer. We had an amazing time connecting with our two kids and assisting and encouraging them with their homework. One is a transfer student and the other is a freshman. This house was great. Lots of room, extra touches and spaces for a large number of people. Beds were very comfortable. Loved the fire pit. Fans in the room were very welcome with the numerous windows providing good ventilation. No need for air conditioning. Would stay here again.
