This stylish beach house set in a beautiful garden, large deck and gum trees.
Tracey & Mac live in inner city Melbourne, Mac's beach house is their holiday retreat.
Traceyao purchased this House in 2011
Why Traceyao chose Ventnor
After many years of holidays with our kids at beautiful Phillip Island, we decided to buy a property close to the beautiful bay beach at Ventnor. We bought the property, to give us a balance between our very busy lives at work and to have some where to relax, rest and play.
100% refund if cancelled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if cancelled at least 30 days before arrival date.
We love Mac's beachouse! We have 2 dogs so it's often difficult to get away and they love the big backyard here and being able to snuggle down in front of the fire at night. It's also super close to the beach with our young daughter loves. Tracey is a delight to deal with. We highly recommend it!
Dog friendly place
Great place to stay with your dog. Close to off leash beach. Well equipped. Nice fireplace. Be aware that linen is not provided. Not a problem for us, except that we almost didn’t realise.
Dear Simone and family, so pleased you had a great stay at Mac's beach house, we enjoyed hosting your family and hope you return again. Tracey
lovely and relaxing weekend. The weather was cold and wet but we stayed snuggled in front of the fire. Just what we needed
Thank you Vicki and family we are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Mac’s beach house we loved hosting you. So pleased you enjoyed the fire, it’s so enjoyable in winter. Sending best wishes , Tracey and Mac
Cosy little house but needs a good clean out.
The location is great being only a 5-minute walk to the local beach, which even in mid-winter is nice to walk along and play. The house is only a 5-10 minute drive to most places we visited.
Beds were comfortable, as were the pillows. I didn't realise no linen was included in the hire untill the last minute, but this wasn't a problem for us. The house has everything you need to for your stay including the kitchen which meant we were able to cook some homecooked meals to save some $.
The house a simple in layout and a bit older than it seems in photos but it certainly has the same cozy feel. We weren't able to use the fireplace as it would have been too dangerous for our kids, but we imagine it could have been really nice. The reverse cycle heater/aircon did a great job of warming up the house when we needed to.
The back yard is lovely and I imagine would be great in summer or to hang around in on winters nights with a fire going. Although my kids (nearly 4 and 15 months) were able to find a few things that were unsafe for them, including an old rusty pot of sorts and an axe.
The main disapointment about this house was the cleanliness and over crowded cupboards/drawers. This is the owners holiday home, hence how cozy and lived in it feels, but it meant there was no where for us to put our things away for the time were were there. It would have been nice to unpack a little or even have somehwere to put our bags, that wasn't the floor.
We contacted the owner on the second day as the house was extremely dusty, cobwebs hung from the ceilings and some rubbish under beds/couch. She was great to communicate with and offered to send in a cleaner. As we didn't feel comfortable with this she graciously gave us a discount on the rental which she deposited into our bank account.
The house itself is perfectly suitable for children and families, but we just found there were too many things left where little hands could reach that made us feel uneasy the whole time. Within the first few hours of being there my kids found a lighter and matches (for the woodfire), cigarette filters, razors in the bathroom and cleaning products in the bathroom/laundry.
Had the house been clean and had it not felt like we were staying in someone elses house with lots of belongings left behind, we would not hesitate to stay again. Thank you Tracey for your prompt communication at all times and I hope this feedback helps.
Thanks for your review Liana, as I explained the house was cleaned directly before your arrival, I checked with the cleaners and they confirmed this. I was also there on the Monday before your arrival and got rid of the cobwebs, as the house is in the bush/beach we do get these occasionally. Our place is a retro beach house and not a hotel, so it does have spare doonahs and pillows in the cupboards if guests need them, however, we will review this policy this based on your feedback. In the information handout on the house we advise guests that we do not supply linen, we supply a clean doonah cover an pillow cases only, except for the grand prix.
Our house is perfect for those who want to rent a whole house and have a home stay in a comfortable and stylish environment. Re the safety issues matches etc, they are there for guests to chop wood and light the fire. I imagine it is the responsibility of parents to put these things away and out of reach of young children, especially if they will not be used during your stay, there is a shed in the back yard for your convenience. Many of our guests enjoy the outdoor and indoor fireplaces and so need access to these items. Regards, Tracey
Casual beach house
We had a great break at Macs Beach House. Pet and child friendly, this house is a short walk to the only leash free beach at Phillip Island. Tracey and Mac were very accommodating with check in and out as we booked a very last minute stay.
Fantastic escape away
Second time staying here & the house is set up great for everything we needed. The beds are comfy, the outdoor living area on those warm nights was lovely to eat outside. It's a short walk to the beach, short drive into Cowes and also close by the race track what more could you ask for. Will definitely be back!!
