House Review
The description is accurate for this house. It worked well as a home base but otherwise could use some updates. I realize now that "roku capable" indicates that you should bring your own roku or amazon fire stick device. I am under the impression that WiFi is required for these devices as it is at my home, and WiFi was not available at this location. The neighborhood is not great but I didn't feel unsafe at any time. Unfortunately for whatever reason people like to rev their engines as they drive through the neighborhood. It is close to Asheville downtown so that is a plus. Overall, didn't spend much time in the house and I would recommend that for the future vacationers.

Perfect Landing Spot For Casual Weekend
The property manager was clear and timely in communication. The place had a nostalgic look and feel (think 1970-something), to the point of not even having Wi-Fi. The place was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the value was great. The location is ideal, being about 10 minutes from Downtown Asheville. For a group of adult friends looking for a place to begin and end the day, this is a wonderful choice!

Good place to stay for the price.
Overall we didn’t need to be at the house much in our stay since we were so busy the whole time. Does not have wifi, which they make clear on the listing, but in 2023 is a bummer and with no WiFi there was only 4 channels and maybe 1 worked most of the time. House was pretty clean, there was a few things that could have been a little cleaner. But not bad. Neighborhood felt safe (my main concern with my littles), did see some questionable characters but NEVER any bad interactions or nervous situations. Host was fabulous. Always answered messages and and was very nice. Overall we would stay again in a similar situation. If it was a much longer stay I would be forced into something with WiFi for my young kids.

Like stepping back in time
The property had a lot of promise when we booked. It was about 10-15 minutes from everything we wanted to do, which was nice and we were able to bring our pups with no issues and a minimal fee. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating, even letting us check in early. I can tell that a lot of effort went into making sure the property was clean but with the age of the property it still did not feel clean. The home is clearly very old with minimal updates and had a powerful smell of incense or something to try and cover up any odors. There are some things not included in the photos of the property that I would have liked to know ahead of time. First is that it is located right on the corner of a busy intersection and that the back of the house is basically a dumping ground for old cars and some junk. The area of the house location seemed a little sketchy with a lot of older, rundown homes but a new townhome complex across the street. We encountered a homeless man while we were taking out the dogs at night. Also, the neighbors right next door (about 15 feet away) have two large outdoor dogs that bark non-stop. Since the dogs are right by the outdoor deck, we did not get to take much advantage of it for their constant barking. We tried sitting out there one evening with music on and it was just too much so we went inside. Even our dogs who like to bark were wondering what was going on. Also, the shower is tiny and has a boarded-up window with a shower curtain hung over it and pinned down so it brushes up against you while you're trying to shower. The bedroom also has a boarded up window with blinds over top, which just felt really odd. The furniture is very dated and uncomfortable except for the leather recliner. Some other things not mentioned in the ad are that there is no central HVAC, only a window unit in the kitchen for AC. The owner also advertises that the TV is Roku enabled but doesn't mention that there is no Wi-Fi so I'm not sure why that is even mentioned. I've honestly never stayed at a rental property without Wi-Fi so I learned a lesson that that is not always provided in 2023. It would be hard to use a hotspot because our phone signal in the house was 1-2 bars at best. The 'lock' to the side door is unreliable. You have to slam it shut then make sure you can't push the door open and the deadbolt can't be locked from the outside.
