Wake up to serene river and lake views and fall asleep to the sound of nature right outside your window. This spacious coastal home sleeps up to 6 and puts you right in the heart of one of Australia's most spectacular stretches of coastline — the Great Ocean Road.
Most windows frame stunning views over the river and lake, where swans, pelicans and a wonderful variety of water birds make their home. It's the kind of place where you find yourself just sitting on the verandah watching the world drift by.
Peterborough is one of the GOR's best-kept secrets — a peaceful, unhurried village with a fantastic cliffside golf course, excellent fishing, beautiful beaches and some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in Victoria.
The space
With room for up to 6 guests, there's plenty of space for everyone to relax and unwind. The huge backyard and verandah are perfect for lazy mornings and long evenings outdoors. Everything you need is provided — all linen supplied, fully equipped kitchen, and private parking on site. Fair warning: there's no TV reception, but we've curated a fantastic DVD collection for your cosy nights in!

We were quite happy with the place. It got a nice surrounding. Although the place does not have any fancy facilities, it was more than enough for someone who is looking for a relaxing quiet place. Very close to the 12 apostles, so if that is on your bucket list, this is the place to say.

Nice little shack in an awesome location, if your into fishing, bird watching, photography or star gazing this is the place for you and its just down the road from the Bay of Martyrs & Bay of Islands which I think are the best parts of the coastline. Its a bit rough around the edges but if you want a nice, clean basic place to stay then this is the place & there is heaps of space for kids to run around out the back. I would stay here again.

Coastal perfection

I'm not sure it's possible to rave enough about the shack - it is perfectly situated, with easy access by foot or car to a wide range of activities. It reminded me strongly of childhood beach vacations where the mix of pragmatic features and nostalgic elements were ideal. Lovely large yard. The perfect place for daydreams and board games.

Peterborough is a great location. A bit quieter than many other coastal towns. Accomodation was very dated, but we didn't mind as we got to bring our dog with us which was nice. Was only a short drive to see the sights the area has to offer and find beaches for the kids and dog to play at. There was no tv which was just fine for our stay. But I can imagine it getting a bit tedious if you had bad weather and were stuck inside all day. My family and I had a great time during our stay and would like to return during off peak times when it's a bit cheaper I suspect.

By the slipway

Wow what a beautiful. We arrived late on a Friday night. When we woke up in the morning and saw the inlet with a 180 degree view we where blown away. The property is very close to all the major tourist attractions. It is well cleaned and has all clean linen and towels. The boys where able to kick a football out side on the large lawn block. Next time we will bring our fishing rods. Defiantly will be revisiting

Enjoyable Escape

The booking process was a breeze. Getting access when we arrived was easy. The place was clean and tidy. The location is great if you enjoy a good view and want to serve breakfast to a mate fishing on the floating pontoon across the road. Ok the fish weren't participating but it was a great way to escape post lockdown. A short walk to town or the surf beach and there are local dining options. Nearly every time we thought of something we needed it was in a cupboard or drawer(we left 2 stubby coolers in a drawer for future guests). Beds were comfortable and the lack of TV reception wasn't a major problem because we had an Optus wifi dongle and took down a bunch of comedy dvd's - so much better than watching the news these days. We would definitely stay again.

Quiet getaway right on the water

We really enjoyed a week at the 'beach shack'. It was so quiet and we slept amazingly well. The shack had everything that we needed including a big fridge, stove, oven microwave and all of the cooking utensils you could want. Deb was a fantastic host and communicator. She responded very quickly to all messages. There is a little jetty that we put chairs onto so we could fish and watch all of the birdlife. We liked being so close to Port Cambell as well. We would certainly stay again.

The home is on the boat ramp and around the corner to an amazing beach brilliant sunsets and sunrises pelicans and rabbits people very friendly . Thank you my host wish I had stayed longer though must say the bins had not been emptied for weeks I did put them out hopefully they’ll be emptied it kinda stunk also I heated a cross bun under the griller and it caught a light due to all the fat in the grill tray that wasn’t cleaned no fault to host as I know they hire cleaners oh and lucky I had my dog as mice in the sand bags other than that absolutely loved the place especially location ❤️

I discovered Peterborough years ago and fell completely in love with it — the rugged coastline, the wildlife, the peace and quiet. I genuinely believe it's one of the most beautiful places in all of Australia, and nothing makes me happier than sharing it with people who are ready to discover it for themselves.
When I'm not hosting, you'll find me fishing, swimming, snorkelling, boogie boarding, bike riding or pottering in the garden — so I know this part of the world inside out and I'm always happy to point guests towards the best spots that don't make it onto the tourist maps.
