About Irena & Simon
The Old School House is a joint project by husband and wife team Simon and Irena. We love getting out and about hiking and exploring, enjoy hanging out on the beach and dining out in groovy restaurants. We enjoy traveling together and spending time with the kids. We live in Melbourne but spend time in our holiday house whenever we can. Although we live in Melbourne, we have put a lot of effort and thought into our house and hope that it will meet or exceed your expectations and that you will have a relaxing and wonderful stay in our house. Should anything be lacking or should anything need improving, please contact us to let us know. We appreciate your feedback.
Irena & Simon purchased this House in 2015
Why Irena & Simon chose Port Campbell
Simon and Irena love all old things that have charm and character. From the moment we stepped foot into this house, we absolutely fell in love with it. We bought the house in 2015 and have spent three years working on bringing back it's past splendour. We painted and decorated the house, added the gardens, the pathways and the fire pit, filled gaps, replaced the upstairs sliding doors and much much more. It certainly was a labour of love. We love the feel of this unique house, the space and the surrounding gardens. When we are at the house, we spend most time gardening but we also love going to the beach and hiking at one of the many amazing spots around the area. We have since found out a lot about the history of this old school house and even had a former student from the school over for a cup of tea and a cake!
What makes this House unique
The house is a warm and friendly home that is steeped in history. We love the wooden floors, the exposed beams and the old character of our house. We love having the fire going on a cold winter's night and gazing at the stars. We love watching the native birds and the kids enjoy grilling marshmallows over the outdoor fire pit and climbing up on the beautiful old gum trees in our gardens. We had some pretty good harvests from our veggie patch too and picked lots of passion fruit last season. In summer we really enjoy hanging out in our hammocks with a nice glass of wine and watching the abundant birds go by. We love sharing our house with our friends and having long lunches out on the deck. This really is a unique property and our guests have the whole house and the surrounding gardens all to themselves. It is only a short drive away from the main attractions of the Great Ocean Road, such as the 12 Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge. I can assure you - it will feel like a home away from home. :)

Peaceful, relaxing, accessible and cosy!
A great place to stay at in Port Campbell. The town is stunning, the surrounds and beautiful and this house tops it off! Owners communicated well, it was so easy to access, clean and cosy! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!
Perfect place for a relaxing weekend away!
Irena and Simon have provided a beautiful home to base yourself on Victoria's stunning coastline!
You can walk into the main street of Port Campbell and it is the perfect location to set-off on the 12 Apostles Gourmet Food Trail!
The property is so relaxing and pleasant to share a meal on the large veranda and watch the wildlife. We especially loved the visit from one local koala early in the morning.
Perfect and prompt communication from hosts - very much appreciated.
100% would recommend! :)
Loved how homey the house was with nice touches such as organic hair products, movies, and a history book of the school. Easy walk to town and great location from which to tour the Great Ocean Rd. Perfect size for our family of 3 to Spread out and relax. Many mahalos!
Beautiful place. Thank you for all the little extras.
This property had so much character. We enjoyed our one night. The downside was that the bathroom was on the lower level and bedrooms were upstairs. It was difficult at night with a visually impaired member in our group. The bathroom did not have heat and it was chilly. Also wasn’t keen on washing dishes on a one night stay. There wasn’t a dish washer. However, overall would stay again.
Everything is so perfect
Perfect experience, perfect location, everything is so perfect. You will never regret it.
