About this property

River Gem - Caurnamont


Located at Caurnamont, on a quiet stretch of the river, only 20 minutes from Mannum.

****Please note due to the flood, the downstairs bathroom /laundry has been demolished, however upstairs has not been affected*****


The perfect location to relax on the balcony or move downstairs on the large lawn at the front.

This 5 bedroom home consists of a main bedroom, with a queen bed and its own en-suite. Three bedrooms with a queen bed and a set of bunks, with the fifth bedroom having 2 bunks. (sleep 18)

As you will see RiverGem is one large property, divided into 2. If your party has more than 18 guests, please contact us as we can accommodate up to 31 people. This also guarantees exclusive use of the entire property.


Open plan kitchen, dining and living area overlooks the balcony and river, allowing you to enjoy the stunning views while you sit back relaxing with friends and family.

Downstairs, there is a large tiled area to sit during the day out of the sun, as well as a common downstairs bathroom and laundry.

River Gem is one large shack divided into two, the only shared facilities are the jetty (not to be used for mooring your boat), the laundry / bathroom area and stairways to access upstairs. Upstairs internally is completely divided and private. All outdoor areas are divided by blinds including the front balcony. We like people to be aware as the other side is owned and sometimes may have people also enjoying this amazing property. If you would like to rent River Gem when no one is staying at the other side please let us know and we will see if this can be arranged, a lodging levy may apply.

Please not this is not a motel. It is your responsibility to leave it as you found it, CLEAN.

Cleaning Fees will be charged if Broken Glass / Bottle Tops / Cigarette Butts or Rubbish is left lying around.

Beautiful Location

The property is well equiped and the location is stunning. Plenty of space for families and large groups. The facilities were great. The house cleanliness could be improved and the general tidiness of the property could also be improved as there were a lot of random items left lying around.

We are disappointed if you mean the cleanliness is inside upstairs and we will work with our cleaners on this. Unfortunately, outside areas are subject to the elements and we have no control over this.

Perfect place for the twelve of us to stay in comfort on a quiet place on the river. The house has everything, plenty of fridges, bedrooms, and areas to gather and enjoy the river. We are all looking forward to the next time.

Right on River with beautiful outlook. Every thing you need for 2 family’s to catchup over long weekend . Plenty of room to do any activities . Easy checkin, good communication from owners. Heaps of cooking supplies for large numbers. Heaps of seating in lower area on lawn. Large front lawned area for cars of road. Plenty of fridges and ice machine . A little dissapointed

We I must say we were a bit disappointed compared to last time we hire this same property 3 years ago for my wife’s 50th. Considering we still paid the top going rates is was a bit of a let down only to here about the no lawn at all to the river side just days before arriving, although we were also told about the lower level not being there anymore i was surprised to see the two openings to the underside not boarded up, tools and ladders left there in view and an open cellar door. Not to mention wires everywhere and not knowing they were safe or not. We had to make shift block these doorways as the younger kids could have been seriously hurt under here. Surprised there was no power or lights at all downstairs and not told about this prior, if we had known we at least could of taken some temporary lights as this was a 50th birthday and was always going to be downstairs outside. We also had some of the power trip and not work and happened to be the phase that operated the water and toilet water pumps not good with a big group of people celebrating. We managed to use a lead to get one of these pumps working for the toilets at least. Cooking a massive Paella for everyone using head lamps not real good. Then all the power was lost completely for some period of time (Although this was an area problem) just dampened it all a little more. All this should of been mentioned prior or time of booking & definitely heavy discounted rates while the shack is currently in this condition

Hi Mark, so sorry to hear this and yes we are trying to get everything back and running after the flood apologies we didn’t give enough of a heads up. With trades going up and down all the time we don’t know what lock up condition they leave the bottom half in but we can pass this feedback onto them. We were hoping the lawn would get there and are now installing roll out this weekend. We would like to offer you a free night once everything is back up and running so you can have the same experience as last time. 😊

Peace and perfection

Beautiful site, plenty of beds neatly arranged throughout the house. Big fenced back yard for ball sports and kids. Smack bang on the river front with a beautiful outdoor area with fire pit and undercover entertaining area. Been here 5 out of the past 8 years. Tried other places but we always come back. Kitchen and cleaning items are always in stock. I'd recommend nowhere else for friends, families or any event. Owners are great to deal with.

What a Gem!

After a couple of minor hiccups I started communicating with the owners and everything was fixed in a jiffy. As a whole the stay was perfect for our families, from the 3yr old to the 50+ yr olds. Plenty of room to spread out and have space and location was peaceful and spot on! The tree swing was a blessing, the little ones loved it. Thanks for having us, we will be back!

My 70th birthday weekend.

Firstly, the location on the riverbank was spectacular. We had 5 families staying there ranging from a 3 month old to me. A couple of the young adult males were a little long for the bunk beds but we managed. There are plenty of utensils, crockery etc . Having the kayaks there to be used was great. Children had a great time paddling between jetty and landing using life jackets and floating devices. Sitting on the bank watching them was entertaining. Plenty of fridges for all our food and drinks. Definitely recommend this to anyone considering a holiday. Owners were very quick to respond to any questions I had. Thank you for providing a lovely property.
