Wonderful stay in Port Fairy
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful house. The hosts were very thoughtful and provided everything we needed. We hope to return!
Hi, thank you for staying at The Gatehouse. We enjoy having families stay, especially over several generations. One family has been coming to our different places for over 25 years. We hope you return too.
Port Fairy Getaway
The property owners have thought of everything! You could easily cater for yourself or visit the great restaurants in the town.
The house is in a perfect location, is comfortable and modern and my daughter and I were made to feel very welcome.
I would definitely stay there again.
Hi Suzanne, thank you for your review. Port Fairy has changed dramatically in the short time since you were here. It will be busy again but for the time being it has taken on a quiet autumnal stillness. We propose to do some more work on the cottage and its landscaping. Please do come back in the Spring if you can. Cheers, Timothy
Beautiful cottage stay
Property was perfect place to get away. Little extra touches by the owner make it extra special. Would recommend a stay here
Thank you Angie. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. Guests do appreciate things like the good books, local art, a well equipped kitchen and fine linen. We even try to provide home-made jam if we have it but that's seasonal. And thank too for leaving the cottage so neat and tidy. Cheers, Timothy
Great for dogs
Stayed only 2 nights but wish it could have been longer. Lovely cottage, well done up Great setup for our 2 small dogs - who we could restrict in the garden or conservatory when needed. with a 20 minute walk to the beach and a hose in the lovely back garden to get the sand off afterwards!
Thank you for your positive review. We've noticed that the grass is always greener around the hose! Now we know one reason why. It was good to hear your dogs enjoying themselves in the back garden so happily. Please do come back for longer. Cheers, Timothy
Relaxing cottage with old world feel.
Cosy and homely feel.Pleasant that fresh bread and jam were provided and butter plus coffee beans and grinder.Books to browse were also enjoyable.Garden also pleasant.
Thank you Charles, we enjoyed having your family stay and showing you around the property. The books (and jigsaw puzzles) rotate regularly between our library in the manse and our accommodation places. We also change the artwork sometimes. Guests appreciate the quality of furnishings provided. Cheers, Timothy
Port Fairy is an ideal holiday destination with much to offer. It combines authentic heritage dating from the earliest settlement in Victoria with modern activities. It is still an active fishing port overseen by its trusty lighthouse at the mouth of the Moyne River. There are several festivals during the year, including the world-famous Folk Festival in March and the Spring Music Festival in October. Its links-style golf course is a secret gem of international standard. The pastoral and agricultural hinterland is rich with historic buildings, roads, trees and gardens. It is on the edge of the second largest volcanic plain in the world. All age groups can find something to do and enjoy.
