About the host
Hosted by Mary or John Sandifer
John & Mary Sandifer helped John's parents care for this family home and property since the early 1990's and assumed management in 2004. It has been our pleasure to welcome guests and manage the rental of the Petit Roque cottage since 1999. We are a French-American family with 3 children, and have lived in New York, London and Paris. But the Côte de La Tourbeille is the place we have always called home. In 2011 we took over the wine making work of the vineyard; our 2012 vintage won a gold medal in the Concours de Bordeaux. Since 2014 we also have been making a Rosé. "l'Esprit de Jeanne," and the La Tourbeille "Reserve" aged in oak barrels. Please see our story on our site
Why they chose this property
Le Domaine du Petit Roque on the Côte de La Tourbeille is a 100-acre property that has been in our family since the 1920's. The pastures are now used for raising grass fed cows (the vines benefit from this organic fertilizer ) and we are currently developing a large fruit orchard - John adores making home made jam. The guest cottage 'La Maison du Petit Roque' is set on the border of the vineyard, over looking the Dordogne River Valley.
What makes this property unique
When we walk the vineyard or the gardens here on this hilltop, we are always soothed by the calm atmosphere and transported by the wonderful views of the Dordogne River and Valley.
