Birregurra Tea House : Cracker rear courtyard with fire pit , bar & stage
About Fleur Leslie
“Not all those who wander are lost.” – J. R. R Tolkien Remember that famous line from Alice in Wonderland as she heads down the rabbit hole into a strange new world of untold imagination. “Curiouser and curiouser!” Well that’s the way we hope you feel about our 10 unique wonderlands. Duffelbird’s flock of getaways are for those with a heart for adventure – places where you can unwind or unravel, let your existential selves hang free to ponder life and love, under the stars, away from the noise – immersed in nature. Our hidden gems are rich in character and layered in mystery, no more than 2.5 hours out of Melbourne – a converted steam train in the Otways, a mid-century charmer on the fringe of an orchid forest, a glass fronted masterpiece overlooking the wild waters of Westernport – each of them tucked away in some of the most unspoilt corners of Victoria, waiting for you to explore with wide eyes and wonder. Bring your well-mannered dogs. Let them roam free, (just not on the furniture) while you settle in to our sometimes quirky, often eclectic, always whimsical, hideaways. Can you hear the water? The breaking waves? The cascading waterfall? Can you feel the peace, the calm, the astounding beauty of Mother Nature wrapping you in a gentle embrace? We’ve felt it too. At the ritual Burning Man in the Nevada desert, deep in the jungles of Costa Rica and atop the volcanic peaks of Hawaii. And we want to give all the quirky travellers out there a chance to awaken that ‘wanderlust’ energy. Because we all need time out so we don’t go bonkers in the real world. Go on, escape the chaos, experience the enrichment of nature, the magic of complete abandonment, the inspiration of new surrounds. Let Dufflebird be your tour guide to a wildly curious life. Rabbit hole to Wonderland, right this way. Fleur and Mike

Great weekend, old school feel and very cosy!
We really liked our stay at the Tea House. Fluer was a great host. The place was lovely and cosy and not far from Brae for our lunch. The Royal Mail is just meters down the road if you are looking a nice dinner. Plenty of good coffee close by too. Birregurra is a great quiet weekend away for anyone. The Tea House also has plenty of options for entertaining and keeping warm around multiple fires.
Thanks so very much Travis for your upbeat review. It is interesting to us, that the guests who seem to enjoy the house the most, are the guests who were also booked into Brae.
I think it is because the sort of people who seek out the one-of-a-kind dining experience also appreciate the unique accommodation wedged between two bespoke shops on a Victorian-era country street. The live like a local kind of experience.
They also seem to really value the rear courtyard with bar and games shed (in the old stables) plus the stage, sound system and fire pit.
Thanks for leaving the house and property in immaculate shape. You are welcome back anytime and we hope you come back soon.
Fantastic property to go away with friends /family
There is such charm to this place, right from the street frontage, inside the home and even in the outdoor entertaining area. You feel like you are stepping back in time to an era gone by, where things were a little bit more simpler and you instantly feel yourself start to relax!
This home can easily accommodate two families (4 children and 4 adults). You are right on the main street of Birregara and a very short stroll to get your morning coffee or brunch or simply just to browse at the shops.
The outdoor entertaining area is great at night for pizza, BBQs whilst listening to music or enjoying a wine or two!
Would highly recommend!
Thanks Sharon for taking the time to give us some feedback and post a review.
Some guests recently commented that they thought the lounge room was small for 8 guests. I think if you utilise the outdoor entertaining area, bar, stage and old stables (which is now the games room) such as you have, then the place feels more spacious and the external amenities make for great fun.
So pleased to hear it worked so well for your group of 8.
Thank you also for leaving the place in wonderful shape and the easy pleasant communication. You are welcome back anytime.
Excellent, well-located house.
There was a very nice internal ambiance to the house which was handily located within the pleasant township. The living and sleeping areas were spacious and well-furnished and the external area was tidy and well set up. Even though we were there on two extremely hot days the air conditioner in the sitting/dining area was very efficient. The shower was excellent! The hammock, alpacas, the ladybird’s tree and the visiting lizard kept the children well-occupied. Good location for dining at Brae. The local car service recommended as transport to and from the restaurant was friendly and efficient.
Great house, great location, friendly and accomodating management - highly recommend!
We found the house to be very different and interesting. Heaps for the kids to do with games for indoors and plenty of space for outdoors activities. Being on the main street, the morning coffee is just next door and everything you need is a short stroll away. Highly recommend!
A fantastic place for a relaxing getaway
We had a fabulous time at the Tea House. The cottage is beautifully restored with everything you could want for a relaxing break. The kids loved the games room and we all loved roasting marshmallows at the fire pit. Fleur is a lovely host and her friendly communication made us feel very welcome. Highly recommended.
Brilliant place to stay and perfectly central!
Brilliant place to stay, perfectly central and great outdoor space, perfect for cool nights, wine and some marshmallows over the fire.
Thanks Monique. We are glad you had a great stay!
