This cabin was the perfect place for a group of outdoor lovers to ring in the new year. We spent time hiking nearby trails and enjoyed a snowy hike on the farm’s loop trail. Our four-legged companion had an equally great time. Can’t wait to come back over the summer during blueberry season!
We really enjoyed our stay at Old Orchard Creek Farm. It is a beautiful and peaceful place. The cabin was very comfortable, and the hike was wonderful. Our dogs had a great time as well. We would love to visit again.
Beautiful location. Great views. Hike was amazingly…absolutely beautiful. Our dog loved being off leash to explore!! Will definitely be back to try the other cottage with the deck for viewing stars! Hopefully we can stay longer next time. Thank you. And the general store was so cute…best blueberry scone ever!!
Yes on blueberry hill or rather Old Orchard Creek's farm and VRBO. It is rare to step into a corner of the world where everything is just right. Our long weekend at Old Orchard Creek farm's Chestnut cottage was the space and place we needed to get away. We loved the cabin - details, comfort and coziness. We dove into the surrounding nature with a powerful walk around the ridge that provided views to Mount Rogers and the rest of the Blue Ridge in North Carolina's Lost Province. We enjoyed the hospitality of Johnny and Walter (and Colin and Emma) who made our stay as easy and peaceful as possible. Finally this part of North Carolina is a revelation - from the history to the culture and nature - you have so much to experience. The Lansing General store offered tasty baked good and excellent coffee drinks for our time in town. We will be back and plan on making this a tradition. thank you.
The weekend was a much needed respite before the start of a busy school year. The farm is so peaceful and inviting. Loved cool mornings on the porch. Easy walks around the farm.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was at Old Orchard Creek. The cabin was beautiful and comfortable. But the farm itself was amazing. Quiet and peaceful. Blueberries and apples, chestnut trees and hiking. What more could you want?
And Walter was the perfect host.
Old Orchard Creek Farm was wonderful. We stayed in the Chestnut Cottage which was super quaint and comfortable. Sitting on the porch later in the evening, all you could hear were the apples dropping from the trees!
Beautiful farm with 2.5 mile walk around the property with gorgeous pastures, woods and Mountain Views! Cute and comfortable cottages and wonderful hosts! Our second visit and we will return!
Fantastic visit. Hosts are gracious and easy to communicate with. Hiking trail on the farm was very well maintained & have amazing vistas. Close to lots of great trails & Lansing definitely has a cool & friendly vibe to it. Hope to visit again!
Our stay at Old Orchard Farm couldn’t have been better. When we arrived, the cabin was open and ready for us to use. We found it clean and well stocked with the essentials. The farm is definitely a magical place. The land and surroundings are definitely breathtaking! Johnny and Walter made exploring it so easy, there were detailed instructions for a 1-1.5hr hike around the property if we chose to do that. Since we had our dog and kids, we decide to try it out. It was so much fun! I think our dog had the most fun running off leash. We also made our way into town and enjoyed the General Store and Pie on the Mountain pizza place. Both places are definitely worth checking out! On our last night there, we got lucky because the temps dropped. We were able to used the wood stove in the cabin with wood provided by the owners, it kept us nice and toasty. When we woke the next morning, we saw some light snow before heading out. This trip was just what we needed, we will definitely be back!
It was the perfect get away for our family. The kids were safe to roam and play freely in the vast beauty of the valley at Old Orchard Creek. We were surrounded by bird songs and the sounds of the rippling creek. The natural quiet was life giving. The golden hour of the sunsets was enough to refuel your spirit. Walter and Johnny were incredible hosts and welcomed us like we have been friends for years. My daughters followed Walter around as he fed the animals and got to hold chicks, pet kitties and sweet dogs. Lansing is a quiet town full of rich community, delicious food, bountiful connections, and at the heart, their amazing river walk park. We tubbed the river every day and found that it was such fun to swim and feel that it was safe for our 6 and 4 year old new swimmers. Don’t forget to hangout at the Old Orchard General store for good coffee, wine, molley chompers cider, and live music.
The cottage was warm and comfortable, with everything you needed. The farm was beautiful to wake up to every day and enjoy the scenery, farm animals and walks. What a treasure to find!
This was our second stay here and it was just as amazing as the first! Johnny and Walter are such great hosts, and the cabin is just perfect. We had fun picking delicious blueberries on the farm, hiking the farm loop trail, and enjoying the gorgeous views. My 9 year old son loved all the animals, including the dogs, cats, chickens...and the Highland cattle on our hike! We look forward to our next visit!!
