About this property

Mountain Village Bach

Renovated two bedroom cottage in Arthurs Pass Village. Great views over the village and North up the valley. Easy access to popular walking tracks, village cafes and train station.

To keep your costs down there is no cleaning service provided so please clean before you leave.

Linen, sheets, pillowcases and towels are NOT provided, bring your own. There are duvets for each bed.

Formerly called Woodsmoke, there is now no fireplace. The bach has just been renovated with sliding door to the main bedroom, new double glazed windows in the lounge & bedrooms, double glazed sliding door onto a deck on the north side and new heat pump. The interior walls are polyurethaned plywood with a slight white wash. The double bed and fold-out double sofa bed are both new.

Please be aware this is an authentic Arthurs Pass bach - a mountain cabin of about 42sqm. It is recommended for ascetic persons, looking for simple accommodation. The flush toilet is in an annex to the entrance porch. Ideal base for tramping, mountaineering or Coast to Coast race training. Short 950m walk to cafes and Visitor Centre.

Note that there is a railway through the village and coal trains arrive then pass through most nights.

Perfect Activity Base
We enjoyed our stay here. It has everything you need and nothing you don't. Cleanliness all depends on previous guests. We made sure to leave it a little better than we found it to pay it forward. If travelling in colder months, but water bottles, slippers and an extra blanket are recommended. The heat pump does a great job but extra comforts never hurt.

Sweet and simple
A great warm wee spot in Arthurs Pass Village, no frills but has every thing you need. We did find the bunk was hard to get into top bunk and was very squeaky. Otherwise it was convenient and comfortable.
