About this property
Gorgeous family-sized rustic Holiday Chalet in Arthurs Pass. Tranquil setting!
"Base Camp," as we fondly refer to it, is a picturesque wooden chalet nestled into the side of Mount Bealey. Adorned with adzed wooden beams, a substantial rock-faced fireplace, and exposed wood interiors, it exudes the cozy ambiance of a mountain chalet, which it truly is!
Enveloped by beech trees, you can often spot New Zealand's native birds, such as Toutouwai (robins) and Korimako (Bellbirds), right from the living room sofa or the deck. This is the perfect retreat for your family, offering a relaxing escape from the city, and a chance to savor one of New Zealand's most stunning locations—Arthur's Pass.
Base Camp is just a short walk away from the village center yet enjoys a serene and tranquil setting. If you listen carefully, you might even hear the occasional kiwi at night.
Upstairs, there's a private and sheltered deck, along with space outside in the garden for kids to run around of have a BBQ, taking in the great mountain views and the therapeutic embrace of nature. The clear night sky, especially during the winter with snow-clad mountains, is a an amazing sight, perfect for stargazing.

This area boasts numerous enchanting walking tracks, each offering a distinct experience—some leading to waterfalls, others meandering alongside rivers or Tarns, and a few ascending high into the mountains. Embarking on the ascent into the mountains begins with a stroll through the lush native forest, adorned with ferns and a rich undergrowth. As you ascend, the forest gradually thins, revealing breathtaking views from the mountain summits.
