About this property
Lakeside villa on a quiet golf course - private pool and 10 minutes to the beach
Welcome to our house in Hua Hin! Located in Thailand's Royal Beach District and home to the King's summer palace, you'll find us just outside Hua Hin on a peaceful golf course only ten minutes away from the nearest beach.
The house is set within the large and renowned golf course of Palm Hills Golf Club & Residence, located outside the royal town of Hua Hin. We chose this spot for its tranquillity and scenery, with a view over green hills, a lake and mountains.
You’ll have plenty of space (850 sqm) over two large floors. There are eight double bedrooms (5 king-size beds, 2 queen-size beds, plus one bedroom with 2 single beds) and all have en-suite bathrooms. There is air conditioning and WiFi throughout the house. Two of the bedrooms are in a separate private poolside house that has its own living room.
There are three spacious living areas: one seating area upstairs with a Smart TV and DVD player, another downstairs with a sofa and bookcase with reading material, and a large open-plan kitchen, dining area and pantry. The space is light and airy with tropical décor and colourful paintings by a Danish artist. You’ll find the laundry room in the adjacent service house, where staff would live if you should choose to have a maid/chef/chauffeur service during your stay.
There are also two balconies and a large private garden filled with tropical flowers, fruit and palm trees, and a lake at its end that separates you from the 7th hole of the golf course. The large 18-metre saltwater pool is wonderful in the hot weather, while the garden pavilion provides shade and space for outdoor dining and includes a barbeque kitchen.
The golf course is a private gated residence with 24-hour security, making it both quiet and safe. You will also have access to the club house restaurant and sports club. For a small fee, you can use the gym, tennis, squash and badminton courts, billiards and table tennis rooms. Many of our guests are golfers. If you wish to play on the 18-hole championship course, you can make arrangements at the club house or through our house manager. The club usually offers good discounts.

About the host
Hosted by Gunnar & Nicole Stokholm
Hello! We're Gunnar and Nicole from Denmark. Over the years we've moved back and forth between Europe and Asia with our twin daughters and now spend part of the year in Thailand and the rest in Italy.
What makes this property unique
We chose this spot at Palm Hills Golf Club for its privacy, tranquility and beautiful natural surroundings. Located three hours south of Bangkok in Hua Hin, the area is known as Thailand’s Royal Beach Resort. Once a quiet fishing village, it became a fashionable retreat for residents of Bangkok in the 1920s. This was the railway era, when newly completed railway lines allowed the Thai aristocracy to travel easily to the countryside and coastline. Hua Hin became a popular stop along the southern railway line connecting Bangkok to Singapore and Malaysia, and was enjoyed so much by King Rama VII that he decided to build his summer palace here. The Klai Kangwon Palace (which translates to ‘Far From Worries Palace’) was completed in 1933.
There’s plenty to do in Hua Hin: golf, watersports, trekking, great shopping, markets and the famous 5km-long white sandy beach. The surrounding areas are full of Buddhist temples and other attractions, such as the Pa La-U Waterfall and an elephant sanctuary. If you want to go further afield, the border with Myanmar is only 60km away.
We love Hua Hin’s international restaurant scene (lots of foreign chefs have opened restaurants here) and frequently visit the Thai beachside fish restaurants for fresh fish and seafood. We also enjoy Hua Hin’s spas, its night markets and an addictive French-Thai bakery (‘The Baguette’). Our greatest treat is to visit the Centara Grand Beach Resort for its luxurious afternoon tea, served daily amidst the old-world charm of the hotel's seaside gardens. This historic resort, originally The Railway Hotel, opened in 1922 and soon gained an international reputation as one of the great hotels of the East. Our own spiral staircase was inspired by the grand staircase in the hotel's lobby!
