Gigi’s Cottage was perfect in every way. Lovely interior design & beautiful setting in her lush native garden filled with heart shaped anthuriums. I stayed for a weeklong personal retreat & had everything I needed. The kitchen is well-equipped & stocked with spices & all the little things you might not pick up at the store. I was snug & comfy thru a cold & rainy February stay. Washer & dryer came in handy. Gigi is a most thoughtful host. Definitely recommend highly & plan to return myself.

30th anniversary trip

When we arrived at the cottage very close to Volcano National Park, we were blown away! The place far exceeded my expectations. We have stayed in many Airbnb’s over the last few years and this place was extremely clean, well stocked, and in tiptop shape. The surrounding gardens were unbelievable! The thought, detail, and hospitality, extended to my husband, and I went above and beyond. I strongly recommend staying at this cottage if given the chance! Aloha!

A little slice of paradise

This was a great location for our days hiking in Volcanoes National Park, just minutes from the entrance. The environs were beautiful; we’ve never seen so many colors of anthurium! Gigi was a great host very communicative and responsive. And the welcome cookies were SO delicious. A great place to stay.

Heavenly cottage in the rainforest

Gigi’s cottage is the perfect spot for a couple to stay near the volcano. The cottage is surrounded by beautiful rainforest and manicured gardens with fun trails. The cottage itself is immaculately decorated and maintained. Clearly Gigi is an artist and her delight to the senses. Details and beauty that makes you smile are in abundance. I will return.

Great location if your visiting Volcano National Park. GiGis Cottage was very peaceful and Beautiful. With all the comforts of home with a beautiful garden that surrounds the cottage. Hawaii Island resident on a 1 night Volcano getaway

Gig's property was both beautiful and immaculate. It's tricky on the wet side of Hawaii to find places to stay that are clean and comfortable....and Gigi's home was impeccable, beautifully appointed, quiet, comfortable and she baked the most delicious cookies as a "Welcome" for us. It's just a few minutes drive to Volcano National Park and one of the best VRBO stays I've ever had. We would definitely recommend, and I would definitely return!

absolutly wonderful

The Maluhia house is a beauty in a wonderful botanic garden made with love. Every detail is so well designed and thought through, and one is also completely away from the crowds that might be in the very close Volcano national park. We had a super stay which was made perfect by an eruption of Kilauea and a drive for sun down to Mauna Kea (4wheel needed), both breathtaking. We want to come back and thanks for such a nice house that was equipped with just everything one might need and thanks for the wonderful welcome cookies!

A non-smoking, pet free home perfect for a single traveler or a couple. Cozy, private and well provisioned. After a long day of hiking through Volcano National Park, come home and put your feet up and unwind. Fresh, clean rainwater for bathing, cooking and drinking is a special little treat.

What makes this property unique

The host is fluent in sign language and a professional pianist. (Maybe a fun piano lesson while you're here?) Gigi is also a professional photographer and licensed wedding officiant just in case you would like to elope, renew your vows, or have a photo shoot while you are here.

The grounds are just so lush and full of hundreds of flowers and birds. It really is a very special spot. No street noise, dogs or children on property so it is very quiet and peaceful.
