My family enjoyed the cabin and property so much. We were able to see shooting stars and the Milky Way on a couple of the clearer nights as we all sat around the beautiful firepit patio. We were sad to leave and look forward to coming back again in the future.
Stayed here for a soccer tournament and it exceeded our expectations. Jacque is super helpful and responsive. This is the 1st VRBO that is actually stocked to perfection. Everything you need in the kitchen and elsewhere they have thought of.
We really enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. My husband commented the first day looking at the river view “This is the vacation view I’ve always hoped for”. It had everything we needed and much more. It was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation.
Loved everything about this! Clean, private, beautiful location--this place was so relaxing; the river sounds were enchanting. We have many special memories to bring home with us.
We very much enjoyed and appreciated this lovely cabin and its beautiful location on the banks for the Boardman River. The modern cabin was perfect with every thoughtful convenience and everything we might need. Jacque was a delight to meet and get to know as our host. Perfect location for a quiet, restful visit. Sincere thanks.
The river is the highlight here. Kayaking, wading, and lounging in the Boardman was fun and relaxing. When not in the water, the house is tastefully decorated, well appointed, and the air conditioning had no problem handling the heat and humidity. We enjoyed playing cornhole and roasting hot dogs and s'mores over the firepit. The owners are friendly, helpful and responsive.
This cabin is located on a beautiful, remote property, yet only about 25 minutes to downtown Traverse City. We really appreciated the kayaks and tubes that the host provided, as well as the option to transport us to a spot on the Boardman River where we could then paddle back to the house.
This property was amazing and beautiful enough to keep a family of 8 occupied/entertained. We got to experience kayaking for the first time which was so much fun. The home is equipped with everything you can think of. If you’re looking for an outdoor adventurous vacation, this would be the place to book. The owner was amazing..she was kind and always there to answer any questions or concerns. The home was very clean and the beds were so comfortable, 10/10 for overall stay and we can’t wait to go visit again. :)
If you are looking for a cozy get away with the most helpful owner, then stop right here. The location was remote on a relaxing flowing river. The cabin was equipped with everything you need for a great weekend. And the owner made you feel like family starting with the first email and text. I wish I could give this VRBO experience more than 5 stars.
My wife and I like to stay at different places as ofter as possible. We have rented across Michigan and many states. I truly believe this is possibly the nicest, cleanest, most organized and most well kept cabin we have ever stayed at. My one hope is that any and all future rentors fully appreciate how nicely kept and fully stocked this place is. And it's incredibly quiet. Worth every penny.
I highly recommend staying at The Riverdog Den! You will not be disappointed. Exceeded all our expectations from the moment we arrived. Serene, beautiful and clean! The sound of the river flowing and the peacefulness puts your mind at ease! Jacqueline was a gracious host! Making sure we were all set. We had everything we would ever need and more. Many memories made! We will be returning. Thank you so much!

Relaxation at the River Dog Den
The River Dog Den did not disappoint!
This beautiful cabin on the Boardman river is a great place to get in touch with nature. We enjoyed taking the kayaks out on the river, running on the trails that run through the state forrest, and relaxing in the cozy cabin.
Our group wine tour even came out to the cabin to pick us up! If you enjoy nature and want close access to the best that Traverse City has to offer you can't go wrong with staying here. Jaqueline the owner was incredibly accommodating and her hospitality and home was more that I have ever had at similar vacations rentals. Needless to say, I have the River Dog Den bookmarked for our next trip up to Traverse City.
We loved this location. We like to stay away from the hustle and bustle and stay somewhere we can get some quality relaxation in while we are away. This place did not disappoint. We ventured out during the day and relaxed here in the evenings. It had everything we needed and much more. The place is fully stocked for everything. Communication with owner was great. She checked in after arrival and was available should we need anything. One thing to note, you will be charged more if you use more beds than expected. First time I've had to do that with vrbo, but was not an issue at all for us Also read the check out instructions in detail, I missed a detail there. We had a great time at this location and recommend.
A truly unique riverside cabin experience. Sitting directly on a beautiful section of the Boardman River this place has it all. Complete seclusion with nothing but the sound of the flowing river, birds in the air and wind in the trees provides an extremely relaxing environment. Is you want to paddle or tube they have everything you need, even a ride up river. A fantastic fire pit area right on the river to enjoy your company. Yard games for day time entertainment. A grill and outdoor seating for nice meals in a beautiful setting. Literally everything you need for a complete day on the river. The cabin also has everything you need. Very well stocked for cooking at the cabin. Games, books, you name it.20 minutes or so from Traverse City and everything it has to offer. We spent an entire day visiting sleeping bear dunes. And don’t miss Brown Bridge Quiet Area - if you like hiking this 5 mile loop hike is amazing - and directly adjacent to the cabin property. Finally, the property owner is immediately responsive and helpful. And just minutes away if there is anything you need. Even when we had a minor emergency she was there in minutes. The perfect place for a family gathering.
Our family arrived at Riverdog in several groups. One always wonders what it will be like, feel like, when VRBO pictures become reality. Let me tell you, Riverdog is beyond all that you might imagine from what Jacque has been able to show through the site. Within minutes of arrival, I texted my grown children (arriving the following day), "Hurry, this place is beyond the beyond." What we didn't know on Saturday was that we would be overwhelmed more and more as our week sped by.
Jacque, thank you! Your and Mark's home provided us a rest much needed and stregthened our bonds as a family. Every detail was explained and Jacque was always available with suggestions and advice as our week progressed. To be sure, we look forward to returning. After 20 years of family vacation, we finally have a unanimous vote! Blessings to you, Jeff
We wanted a place in the woods with the cabin charm. This place is cozy and has all the amenities and more. Jacque is a delight. We had problems with the gas fire place and she came right out to help. 4 of us had plenty of room. We will be back - next time for a longer stay.
My family absolutely loved this little piece of heaven. 10/10 recommend. Jacqueline was a dream to communicate when we had a question. We can’t wait to come back!
Host and property were beyond our expectations. Beautiful property and quite remote. Once you arrive you will not want to leave. Definitely will visit again.
Beautiful cabin on the river away from the chaos of the world. This property was clean, well-stocked and close to everything we wanted. Our group loved being right on the river and having campfires at night. Jaqueline was a fabulous hostess who made sure we enjoyed every minute of our stay. We will definitely be back :)
