Our three generation family had a wonderful week at Thompson Lake. The house is so well stocked with good kitchen supplies and accessories, and games. The host was very responsive and the house was very clean when we got there. A great time was had by all!
The location is great with a small sandy area for swimming and shade trees on the shore. Clear water and wonderful lakefront with a dock was great for kids and adults. House has lots of great features but could use some maintenance.

Thanks for leaving a review. Would you be willing to tell us know what maintenance you think the house needs? Your feedback is valuable to us. We work hard at maintaining the property to a high standard and appreciate your in put.
Could not have asked for better place to create memories with 3 generations! The kitchen allowed for lots of meal making, and the inside and outside tables were perfect for meals. Plenty of beach towels and watercraft for all!
We only left to buy food and go on long bike rides. Truly a special place! Thank you!
The pictures don't do this property justice - large, spacious, elegantly and tastefully decorated, with everything that you may need, from grill to ping-pong table, with the most pristine, clean lake we have ever seen and sunsets out of this world. Absolutely remarkable. We already plan to go back next summer. Thank you to Sheila for such a wonderful week for our family.
We have been renting a Maine lake house for over 25 years and can say this was the best experience my family and I have had. The home is just incredible, Sheila was an absolute joy to deal with, and the entire experience was delightful. The property and waterfront area was amazing and the entire family had a wonderful time...we will absolutely be back!
Beautiful secluded property with excellent lake access. The house was very spacious and the kitchen was well-supplied. Very comfortable beds. Two things need to be addressed. The front right burner knob on the stove was very loose, and it would be easy for the gas to be left on. The dishwasher was hard to use. We thought it was turned on but then found out it didn’t run. Please leave instructions.
Our week on the lake was great! We were able to utilize the mooring and rent a boat. The amenities on the property were amazing and we used them all: hot tub, sauna, pool table, ping pong, stand up paddle boards, kayaks, etc.
Three generations enjoyed a fun and relaxing week at this amazing lake home. The waterfront and dock are where the water adventures began - exploring by canoe and kayaks and paddle boards. The house and deck are so very spacious and comfortable. The screened porch is a nice hideaway for getting away from the crowd. The gas fireplace came in handy on a chilly evening. All in all, a winner. Stephen and Sheila were very responsive to a couple of issues that came up. Thank you!
House was great, very well stocked kitchen - great layout for a week’s vacation - plenty of space to have puzzles, board games all being played and still open tables to eat dinner at! Very nice spot!
The lakeside houses exceptional in every way ... terrific kitchen that's fully stocked for a large gathering, cozy living areas that are perfect for quiet reading or games, ample bedrooms with sumptuous bedding, a basement with accessories for all ages and the best lake views with full southern exposure. Our winter escape was lovely thanks to the warm touches and family friendliness of this home and its surroundings!
What a great location and home! Top 10 Reasons we had a GREAT visit.....
1. The Parking Space / Driveway is enormous. This allowed for all types of games with the kids - easy access in and out of the home and provided much desired privacy.
2. The Dock is in excellent condition - greatly improves the process of docking the boat / water sports etc...and was also a great place to sit at night and watch the sunset. Some small pockets of boulders nearby that provided some fishing / exploration. There is also a Bald Eagle nesting on the property which was exciting to watch come and go.
3. The sandy entrance to the water is superb. If you have small children - you are in luck. You can have eyes on them from multiple points - easy to get in and out of the water....Loons & Ducks all spotted nearby
4. The Property is well maintained and landscaped - and very large with many little trails for exploring. The trees along the property are well groomed and placed - giving views to the lake but privacy where needed.
5. The house was spacious - tastefully decorated and very clean. Many areas to gather or find privacy. The kitchen was modern and fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. There was literally nothing we expected to find that we did not - and nothing we needed or desired that was not included
6. The Canoes - Kayaks - Paddle Boards - Rafts - Life Vests etc all in excellent condition and close to the water. The FIRE PIT has good kindling nearby / in a great spot with plenty of seating making for excellent campfires / smores and stories..
7. All the "Game Room" items ( Ping Pong Table / Pool Table etc) are in great condition - and have all needed parts! Nothing more disappointing than going to play ping pong with 1 ball. Not a problem here! I did not hear the words "we are bored" ever mentioned.
8. Hot Tub is in excellent condition - ditto for Sauna...
9. Bedrooms were appropriately sized - and the beds were comfortable.
10. The outside deck is large - plenty of seating and has a great view of the Lake below
Having visited Thompson Lake multiple times I can say this is right at the top as one of our favorites!
What a lovely week we had on Megquier Island! Thank you Sheila & Steven for opening up your beautiful & spacious home to our family and for being so attentive. Accommodations were clean and well-designed with so many comfortable options on where to spend time and hang out. We practically lived between your well-appointed kitchen and the large deck with glorious views out to Thompson Lake. Then moved down by the private sandy beach, enjoying our time together in the super-clear water, relaxing in the Adirondack chairs and out on the dock. Kayaking was perfection. And, that late June Strawberry Moon was magical. Playing Ping Pong, shooting pool and soaking in the hot tub rounded out our wonderful stay. We loved it here! You will too.
In this time of COVID our family felt fortunate to be able to safely experience a change of scenery and that Sheila's home was available to us. Everything about the home is lovely - it's location with sweeping views of the lake through old growth trees as well as it's beautiful interior. It offered everything we could possibly need for hibernating in the winter.... a kitchen fully stocked with sharp knives and loads of good quality pans, a cozy living space with a great gas fireplace, lots of space for our kids to stretch out (tv room for school zooms, reading nooks in bedrooms) and pool/ping pong/foosball/ hot tub/sauna to keep everyone active. We didn't wander far from the house except for some nice walks along the Island road. Sheila kindly left the Christmas tree up, which was a really nice addition to the ambiance of the holidays. We used the terrific fire pit, which was surrounded by chairs and a large stack of wood for our use. We wandered the lakeside looking at ice formations and a couple of us fished a bit. While it was perfect for our winter needs (even snowing one night!), we could also envision how amazing the house would be in every season. Sheila was a wonderful host, responsive to all our covid concerns - the house was extremely clean upon our arrival, and communicated clearly with any questions we had prior to the stay. Arrival/entry was easy and a full notebook was provided answering any questions about the house, which was great. From comfy beds to beautiful art work and a basement our kids dream about.... we highly recommend staying at Sheila's Thompson Lake home. You won't be disappointed!
This is a beautiful, private, lake front house on pristine Thompson Lake. The house has everything your family would need and is very clean and nicely decorated. Enjoy the quiet and listen to the loons, take a swim, waterski, kayak, paddle board, or relax in the hot tub. Hope to visit again.
Great property to downshift and to spend time in nature. Very peaceful environment but lots to do on the property - swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, basketball, fire pit, BBQ, hot tub, darts and billiards.
We had such a relaxing stay at this well appointed home on Thompson Lake.
Everything from swimming, tubing and fishing to playing pool and foosball on rainy days....but the highlight for my wife and I was just relaxing by the lake with coffee in the mornings, and cold beer in the evenings. Such a magical place!
This was a wonderful spot on Thompson Lake. Property was clean and nicely appointed. The setting was quiet and we loved the old growth trees throughout the property.
The property is as advertised. The location and view are wonderful. The house is well provisioned, large and clean. The lake is warm, swimming area is sandy and nice. Had a very good, relaxing time.
This was the perfect place for our 3 generation vacation. Great sleeping spaces, plenty of room for people to be together or in smaller groups. Great kitchen, well equipped. Hope we can come again.

Private Lake Resort!
What a gem! The house is more-than-spacious and most rooms have huge windows taking in the lake view. Throw them open at night to hear the loons and the water lapping the shore. The well appointed kitchen has every gadget imaginable, but don't get stuck in there- take some time to play a game from the closet or borrow a book from the shelf! Rainy-day hot-tubbing, ping-pong and a pool table await, but when the sun shines head for the lake! Private swimming area, huge dock with sun chairs and paddle boards, kayaks etc. We rented a boat from the nearby marina to explore the gorgeous lake and take the kids tubing! We ended every day with sunset cocktails and the breathtaking view from the dock.
All in all our stay was perfect! We had the perfect mix of all the comforts of home and the appointments of a private resort!
We can't wait till next year!!

Wonderful home; Wonderful Location
Sheila and Steve's home on Thompson Lake is wonderful. It is well equipped (linen, kitchen items, and other supplies) and can even accommodate a large family with young children on a rainy day (foosball, ping pong, board games, a extensive DVD library, and a hot tub)! The children love the bunk room which, as do two bedrooms for adults, has a great view of the lake. Lake access is suitable for youngsters, swimmers, and boaters. The home comes with a canoe and two kayaks which are great for exploring the lake. Shopping is a short drive. Thompson Lake is large (11 miles long) and deep (120 feet at deepest). There is little boat traffic. The water is clear. We know central Maine lakes, and we can attest that Thompson Lake is the finest. The home is quiet. It is located on the second of two islands connected to the mainland by two causeways.
