Say aloha to He’eia Bay Hale. This 3 bedroom/3 bathroom home rental is great for a family vacation or a group of friends visiting the Big Island. The rental features a prime location, a private swimming pool, and a covered lanai for enjoying the island climate. When you are not taking a dip in the swimming pool, visitors can take advantage of the nearby activities. Kahalu'u Beach Park is less than 1.5 miles away and the Kona Country Club only 1 mile away.

The common living space showcases a spacious open floor plan. The living room is furnished with comfortable seating options gathered around a flat screen TV. A DVD player and WIFI are provided for family entertainment. Adjacent to the living room is a fully equipped kitchen. Updated stainless steel appliances and plenty of counter space is provided for you to whip up your favorite meal. Call everyone to the dining table with seating for 6.

Infested with rats: health hazard!

This health and safety hazard rental needs to be closed!! Downstairs unit is infested with rats that we saw running into back kitchen cupboard and chewed bathroom door that we closed to keep them out of “bedroom” (should not be listed as a bedroom since has no windows or ventilation). The maintenance man set a trap 3rd day after we reported rats. We watched him take out rat in sticky trap and then saw many more rats each night. Eventually our daughter and her husband moved upstairs to sleep on an air mattress on the lanai. There are rat droppings behind the sofa sleeper that is unusable. Clearly this has been an ongoing problem that has been ignored. Interesting that there are no reviews showing on the listing since 2021?? I’m certain there are reviews. Why are they not up to protect families from renting this place? The upstairs bedrooms (that are in separate buildings and openout to the pool so a drowning hazard for young kids) do not have locking doors since they won’t close all the way. The second bedroom has no electricity (chords taped going into the room from outside for the fans so the door won’t close all the way nor lock.) That bathroom has no hot water. The oven never worked (we were told when reported that it didn’t for the last renters. Why weren’t notified of this?). We began washing towels the night before check out but the dryer knob Just spins so won’t engage to start The last day the rain leaked into the downstairs unit flooding the inside entry.

Family vacation

It states no AC , but it NEEDS one.. miserable if it’s hot and humid.. this house doesn’t get enough breeze even with fans to be comfortable and cool.. it doesn’t state rooms are not connected and are separate bungalows..it turned out fine for my older kids but wasn’t expecting it. Not 1 screen closes properly to help keep bugs out .. towel bar came out of wall in lower room the 1st day .. enjoyed our vacation but if this would of been cooler would of been more enjoyable

My stay in Hawaii

The ad clearly states there is no air conditioning, but I assumed that meant none was needed. I was wrong. There were several small issues such as fold out bed was broken, screen doors would not stay on track, and shower curtain was moldy. The only other issue was the invasion of the giant flying cockroaches. Stay if these issues are not a problem for you.

Family/Friend Trip

My sister and I brought our sons, and two of their friends along with our niece on this Hawaiian adventure. Their ages ranged from 20-14 and this house offered us enough space and separation yet room to all be together too. The pool was perfect and used daily! It is cumbersome to have to have the pool vacuum thing in there all the time as the cord gets in the way and is quite annoying, but we obviously worked around it. There is no AC, as listed, but the ground level area was very hot and the fans provided did not provide enough air movement. I would recommend a small AC unit for that area or better fans and extension cords. The "pool house" room has two nice fans and that area was cool enough for sleeping. The main house area has two ceiling fans that kept air moving and the front lanai area also had ceiling fans that made that area very comfortable for sitting and reading a book. Our boys loved the beach volleyball that was located at Keauhou Bay Beach Park, which is just up the street, and spent many hours playing on that court. The house is in a nice location and has easy access to Kona, South Point, and Hilo. It was a great vacation and I would recommend this property to others. Just know there is no AC, and it can get very hot and sticky, especially in the ground level area. More fans, extension cords, or a small AC unit would help this out a lot. The pool is fantastic and there are quite a few pool toys that have been collected and left behind for others to use. Having a washer and dryer is helpful and their is Wal*Mart just up the road in Kona or there is a Longs Drug store and grocery store in the Keauhou Shopping Center, which is just up the road from the house.

Perfect stay!

My brother's family and my family stayed at this gem of a home. The places basically split into three separate sleeping areas with a communal kitchen and living area and Lanai connected to the master suite. It worked out perfect for a family reunion for two families because each pair of adults had privacy and all the children were able to have their own space as well! The pool and surrounding deck area where utilized fully each day. The home was the perfect prescription for relaxation.
