A disappointment
This is hard to write. Initially we were so happy with the location of the place that we overlooked the outdated appearance of the property, the minimal kitchen supplies and the clogged drain in the bathroom. The location is great. However, when this place was broken into the day before we left, I immediately reached out to the owners. I was told to go to some location and report this to the police and (at 8PM) the owner offered to refund our last day if we didn’t feel safe and moved to a hotel. That seemed very insubstantial considering the break in. We carefully locked up the place every time we left. Our clothes were strewn around, our toiletries were rummaged and the place was a mess when we returned from sightseeing the evening before we left. Initially, I thought nothing was taken, but actually our American money was taken (about $80). Fortunately, we had our passports, credit cards, and European money on us so the loss was minimal. Fortunately, we returned after our cruise to another VRBO which was excellent for the same price. While we enjoyed our stay, the location was excellent, the property left much to be desired. Also, our daughter and her 2 children were with us for only the final night (they arrived at 9PM and we left the next morning at 8:30AM). I had asked for a discount in the price of the place before we arrived since only 2 of us were staying for 4 nights but we had to pay for 5. Told “no”. Again, for the price, this was a disappointment.
