PET POLICY
We love furbabies, and have 2 little ones of our own. First and foremost, know that dogs are not allowed on trails at Big Bend National Park; and you may not leave dogs in your car while at the Park. See https://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/pets.htm for further info.
With this in mind, if you plan on being at the Park for the majority of your stay at our casa, it may be advisable to leave your babies at home, especially if the weather is hot. If you do bring your furry friends, our pet policy requires the following:
A $10 per day per dog pet fee. You can add this to your total when booking your stay.
A maximum of 2 dogs under 50 lbs.
Dogs must be crated securely if left alone at the casa.
Dogs are not allowed on the beds or on the furniture.
Please make sure you pick up after your dog, and dispose of poop properly in the trash.
Please ensure that your pets do not disturb our neighbors, and don’t leave them in the yard unattended, especially after dark.
If our top notch cleaning folks find that your pets have left the house needing extra cleaning due to mud, fur or shedding, etc., you will be charged additional amounts to cover their extra time.
1 large, private bedroom with rustic wood floors, king size bed with woven leather headboard, upholstered storage bench, antique Mexican armoire, and sandstone and metal end tables.
Living room features built-in bookshelves and a leather sofa that folds out to a full bed.
Beautiful kitchen with vintage Mexican tile counter-tops, hexagonal saltillo tile floor, gas stove-top and oven, microwave, coffee maker, full size refrigerator/freezer, blender, small food processor, toaster, dishes and silverware for 8, talavera serving bowl and platter, vintage Mexican pottery mixing/serving bowls. Large island with seating for 3 on modern upholstered bar stools- perfect for entertaining. Kitchen leads out to the covered porch and gas grill.
Gracious dining room with 8 ft table, six chairs and wide, sturdy bench. The rustic Mexican buffet/hutch features a bar area, wine rack and glassware, as well as colorful plates and bowls for 8.
Cheerful bathroom features hexagonal saltillo tile floor and colorful Mexican tile walls and shower.
Beautiful outdoor space landscaped with regional desert plants, covered patio, patio dining area with seating for 6 with 2 antique Mexican benches, and gas grill.
The house is naturally energy efficient due to the 12-inch thick traditional adobe walls. Stay cool in the summer with 2 window air conditioning units and ceiling fans in every room. During the winter months, house is kept cozy by propane heaters in the living room and dining room. The bathroom is heated and vented by an overhead fixture.

Liz and Kirk:
I am a native Texan (Houston) and my husband is a native of Colorado. We have lived in Colorado for many years. We fell in love with Big Bend country while visiting the National Park. Who knew there were gorgeous mountains in Texas?? We love the climate, wide open spaces, West Texas culture and the super friendly people out here. I am a graphic designer and Kirk is an artisan and stone engraver. We love the artistic culture and gorgeous landscapes, but most of all, the sunsets and stargazing!

Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Terrazas Adobe because of its history, and the regional feel of the house and grounds. It is just so much fun to be at the house! We want to be stewards of the history of the house, and the neighborhood in south Marathon.
What makes this property unique
Location! The house is within walking distance of all the attractions in Marathon, plus close proximity to Big Bend National Park! The Amtrak "Sunset Limited" line (New Orleans to LA) stops in Alpine, just 30 miles away! Some of our friends in LA and Phoenix are already planning train travel to come out and see us.
Marathon is centrally located in Big Bend area-- close to Marfa, Alpine/Sul Ross University, Terlingua, and MacDonald Observatory, a world-class scientific reasearch center.
There is so much to do and see in the Marathon area, your stay will be fun-filled and memorable!
