Enjoy your stay @ 1st Street Retreat, a newly updated DOG FRIENDLY open concept studio apartment with private entrance and fenced in yard. Location is 1 block to the beach and walking distance to all your favorite restaurants like the famous Taco Shop right on the corner, Mango Mangos, Beach Comber, Café Eleven, Sunset Grille, Salt Life and the best ice cream in town Cone Heads.

Get in the car and take a quick 7 minute car ride to historic downtown and enjoy all it has to offer.


The outside retreat consists of outdoor shower which is great after a day at the beach with your dog, Propane BBQ, table and chairs, a propane fire pit for those cool relaxing evenings which goes perfect with a glass of wine.
We also provide beach chairs, beach towels, and beach cart.

Inside you will enjoy the beach feel of the open concept apartment with free wireless internet, Smart TV for streaming. Dog friendly floors, King size bed, kitchen with stainless steel appliances which consist of oven, microwave, Keurig coffee machine, toaster oven, blender, dishes, cups, bowls, silverware etc. Bathroom with walk in shower and all amenities you need.

We allow up to 2 dogs, there is a dog fee of $75.00

All you need to do is pack your clothes and your dog and come and enjoy our little retreat.

A wonderful getaway

The accommodations were perfect for us and our dogs. Being able to have the back yard to ourselves made it very easy to let our "girls" come in and out as needed. Location right across from the beach was easy access and we had some of the Best tacos from Taco Shop right on the corner, so good we had them both nights :-)

Always enjoy our visit to St. Augustine Beach and the wonderful accommodations Lisa provides . You couldn’t ask for a better location or accommodations. Everything you need for a relaxing get away from the cold.

Great Location

The property was spotless and well appointed and maintained. The location was excellent, there was only a short walk to the beach and there plenty of food options within walking distance. All in all a superb experience!

Perfect Property

We needed a place to stay for a few days as we were on our way to Sanibel from Charleston. We had our beloved dog, Ed, with us. 1st Street Retreat was perfect! We were welcomed with all types of “dog themed” decorative details. There was a grassy designated dog area within the fenced in yard. There was even a raised food and water dish inside. It was perfectly located across from the beach, walking distance to restaurants and coffee. And right across from the beach. And it was pristine! Thank you so much!

Adorable 1 bedroom apt, close to beach

My friend and I traveled to St Augustine for a wedding. This 1 bedroom apartment was clean, quiet and very nicely furnished. It was a short walk to the beach and close to restaurants and a coffee shop. We only stayed 2 days but loved it here. Love that the owners allow dogs too. We couldn’t bring ours on this trip but will remember the dog friendliness of this vrbo next visit to St Augustine. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Amazing Beach Getaway!

We had an amazing time with our two small dogs staying at Lisa's lovely flat. It was perfect, especially with the small side yard for our dogs. The home itself is spacious and well kept. We had everything we could need already stocked in the kitchen. And we also got to host some family staying in St. Augustine in the backyard. The grill and space were perfect for a small cookout and it was wonderful to spend the extra time with family. Lisa is also a fabulous host. She shared some great tips and recommended River And Fort for dinner. We ate there on our last night with our family and wow! The food and service were incredible. It was a fantastic recommendation. We also ate at Beachcomber, Kookaburra, and Burrito Works Taco Shop. All three are within a short walking distance and had incredible food. The home is also a short walk to the beach, making it easy to come home as needed. Lisa also provided a beach cart for our beach chairs and other items which was incredibly helpful. We're already looking forward to our next stay.

Fantastic place to stay

This studio apartment had everything you would need. Great location and extremely dog friendly. Lisa has thought of everything that you and your four-legged friends could possibly need. The apartment was clean and the backyard was our favorite place to hang out. Everything was kept extremely clean and neat… Very impressed! We will definitely be returning to this studio apartment.

We love the accommodations and have come for several years. Dog friendly with huge back yard and dog lawn to boot! Lisa, our host, is friendly and very thoughtful in details. We look forward to coming again next year with our fur baby!

Exceptional in every way!

Super clean. Fabulous, spacious studio. Fully stocked with everything you would need and more. Fenced in yard with grassy area for the pup. Beautiful large patio with grill and firepit. Right across the street from the beach and very close to some great little restaurants, burrito works being our favorite! Easy little ride to downtown st augustine. Lisa and Tony fabulous hosts, very helpful and non intrusive. If you are bringing a pup don't look any farther than 1st St retreat. Every one will be happy!

Birthday Beach Trip

Location couldn't be better... Such a short walk to the beach, which is exactly what I was looking for! Also very close to many restaurants and bars for quick drinks and eats! The dogs truly loved the fenced in backyard and grass area. The simple kitchen was well stocked and the grill outside made cooking our own meals super easy! Communication with Lisa was easy and quick! Thank you for maintaining this adorable pet friendly beach house, it truly made my birthday trip that much more memorable!!

Mini Vacation

We winter in Port Charlotte and decided we needed to explore more of Florida. We booked our stay at 1st Street Retreat with the idea to bring our dog with. We were very pleased with everything. The location was great, with a short walk to the beach. Plenty of options in the area for food and libation. The property was awesome with everything you needed for a couple and their dog. St Augustine was nice and worth the visit. Some interesting history to learn. Don't forget to drive south on A1A to see the rest of the coast. We'll be back someday and this will be where we lay our heads at night.

Exceptional stay

This was our 3rd stay at this location. Lisa and Tony are excellent hosts. We normally come down for the Christmas lights downtown St. Augustine and do some shopping. It’s a 3 minute walk to the beach and a 30 second walk to the best burrito shop on the island. It is definitely pet friendly - we have a blind dachshund that easily adapted to both inside and outside areas. The outside patio area is totally fenced in with a grassy area for our puppy. We have nothing but good things to say about the hosts and our stay. We plan on returning.

My husband and I chose St Augustine Beach because it is a nice beach town that is dog friendly. After traveling to a few places and finding issues with finding accommodations that are clean, we'll maintained and dog friendly we chose our house in st augustine which is 1 block from the beach and we loved the fact we can offer a Pet friendly place to stay for others.
