This is our second stay at the cozy cottage. It had everything to accommodate us and our dogs. It is super clean and everything we needed was provided. The hosts are wonderful and were able to get us in a little early so we would not be driving in the big snow storm. We appreciate their hospitality so much!
Room were very clean. The build in wood stove takes the gold medal. Very easy to get going and maintain. It’s a bit of a drive to ski resorts but the price point and beautiful Townshend area makes up for it. Where can you drive over a beautiful working dam to get to your rental?Skene Acres has everything you need.
Fantastic! We absolutely enjoyed our time at the cottage. There was everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. From all the movies and games that you could want along with a warm and peaceful environment. The owners thought of everything so there was no need to fuss . If you are looking to get away and relax this is the place for you. We left relaxed and very content with our stay .

So glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to host you again!
This cabin is such a gem! The pictures definitely don’t make justice to the place. My boyfriend, a friend and I spent the weekend so we could go skiing at Mt. Snow (25-30min), and even when it was too cold for that, we had such a great time just hanging out at the house, it’s so cozy. You have to plan around the lack of cellphone service, but at the house the WiFi works perfectly. The property is so beautiful, surrounded by trees. If you like rustic, olden days atmosphere, you’ll love it! The hosts take very well care of the place and are such nice people. They have a dvd player and a disco player, which we had so much fun with! We’ll definitely be coming back.
It was perfect; the directions were clear, every little detail was attended to. The views of the foliage from every wonder were spectacular, and the night sky was breathtaking.Shampoo, conditioner, bodywash in bathroom, ample selection of DVDs, puzzles, and board games. Very peaceful. Cozy yet spacious enough. Easy to check in and check out. Hope to come back before to long!

Definitely need 4 wheel drive vehicle if staying here in winter months. House is located 2 miles into the woods up a steep dirt road that may not be reliably maintained/plowed during snow and ice storms, so be prepared. House is cozy, beds are comfy, dog friendly, great DVD collection, and wood burning stove fireplace. A good place to unplug and relax. Poor cell reception at house and surrounding area. 40-45 mins to Stratton across winding back roads. House is very off the beaten path if you’re skiing. Not much of anything in the immediate area food wise so plan ahead to cook at the house.
Loved staying here. It was extremely quiet and quaint. We enjoyed relaxing after long days of skiing with the fire and some movies or records while we relaxed. The bed was comfortable and shower was nice and hot! Would absolutely stay again.
We had a great time staying at this cottage. Everything was clean and in working order. The record collection was superior. We stayed during a cold snap which made using the wood stove a delight!
Everything you need for a comfortable stay.
We loved this place. It was very homey and warm. The fireplace in the living room and the Christmas tree were all we could wish for. Thank you very much. We will definitely come again if we will have a chance.
We loved our stay at this cozy cottage. It was exactly the private getaway we needed and a bonus that we could bring our 2 dogs! The house was very clean, well stocked, and comfortable. River Bend Farm Market is only 12 minutes away and had everything we needed to cook dinner each night. We spent most of our days at Mount Snow, and took the extra drive to Okemo for one day. Everything about this trip was wonderful. We hope to be back again!
Stayed here to celebrate a birthday, hang out with friends, and go to Stratton. The house was amazing. We really enjoyed the record player and relaxing by the wood stove. The property was kept nicely and the home was very clean. The house had all of the standard things that are typically needed. We look forward to staying there again next year.
My wife and I were looking for a nice cottage in the woods, and this place was perfect. It was only a few minutes from the main road, but felt like we were in the deep woods. It had a charming feel of a backwoods cabin with all the amenities needed for comfortable living. There were plenty of great hiking trails within 30 minutes as well as a number of quaint Vermont towns. It was the perfect spot to get away for a long weekend.
We had a great trip to VT. The home Very clean and in good shape. Perfectly equipped with everything you need. The property was very nice and private & Our dogs loved running through the trails in the woods. Every night was spent by the bonfire pit, which was nice being right off the back porch.
Thank you for renting this property to people, it was nice to experience VT exactly how I hoped it would be.
We loved this cabin in the woods. This was our second stay here. More than enough room for my wife and I and 26 year old daughter. Beautiful and rustic with a working wood stove and plenty of wood on hand. Kitchen is well stocked. Be warned that road access is a little challenging - steep unpaved road to get there - but our non-4x4 minivan could make it. Lots of good hiking in nearby Jamaica, and the neighboring small towns are charming. Craig was a great host and very responsive.
This was one of the best-stocked of any VRBO, which made it easy to get dinner together when we were snowed in. We only wish we hadn't been on such winding roads as it was not that easy to get to the ski resort. But there was sweetness to x-country skiing the property and we LOVED the turntable with all the great albums.
My son and I spent 4 nights 5 days up in VT and thoroughly enjoyed the cabin. It was the perfect size for the two of us, two bedrooms 1 full bath, nice living room with a wood fireplace, kitchen and dining area. We ate in three of the evenings, grilled steaks one night.Communication with Craig was very responsive and informative. I found all the listing information to be accurate. The home is located off the beaten path, very private, a beautiful area.I would recommend it to anyone looking for a rustic cabin with most amenities of home!
Lovely house. Enjoyed sipping wine in front of the fire, letting dogs explore the "back yard" and listening to the great album collection. We took advantage of the off-line feel even though we were able to get all we needed with the satellite wifi. Easy drive to skiing. Kitchen had everything we needed. Great place to kick back and relax.
The cottage was cozy and in a peaceful location away from everything and well equipped so we were able.to just come and enjoy. Great place for a family like us with a dog she had plenty of land to run around on and there isnt much traffic to worry about. The owners were wonderfull the communication was great we loss power from a strom the home was well equipped with generator to ensure are stay was not interrupted.
This place isn't for everyone but if you want to get away and be with nature this is your place.
This was our second time staying here, and we were surprised by quite the snow storm on Thanksgiving day. Ended up with over a foot of snow and the wind was howling at times, but we were tucked in cozy with the wood stove. We never lost power but lost Internet for most of the day of the storm as it is satellite wi-fi, but there is a vast collection of movies we could choose from to pass the time. The house was clean and the host responds to messages very quickly. We very highly recommend this home for anyone looking for some peace and quiet.
Lovely home and property. My husband and I stayed here with our two dogs for a long weekend of peace and quiet. And that's exactly what we got. There is a trail that loops behind the house through the woods that is a perfect little run to exercises the dogs. The home itself is clean and cozy and we felt very comfortable. The host is very quick to respond and keeps the house stocked with plenty of necessities, there's even little soaps and shampoos in case you forgot something. We definitely hope to return when the weather is cooler so we can enjoy the lovely fireplace.
