Welcome to Wayfarer (previously known as ‘Currarong Waterfront Retreat’), an original Currarong beach house nestled on the waterfront of this quaint fishing village.
The original house has two bedrooms with new queen sized, medium firm beds, new duvets with crisp white covers and fresh new pillows.
A portacot and highchair are available.
There are two bathrooms (one with a laundry). There are pedestal fans in both bedrooms and a cool sea breeze usually prevails. Oil filled column heaters warm the bedrooms and there are rugs for wrapping yourself in if sitting outside on a cool evening. The reverse cycle air conditioned living/dining area features freshly polished floorboards, oversized linen sofas and beautiful views out over Crookhaven Bight.
Sit on the rear verandah and enjoy the abundant wild life and views. The rock pool is a one minute walk from the back door.
There is a galley style kitchen, it is simple but bright and clean with views of the front and rear gardens. It has been equipped with new modern glassware, cutlery, crockery and utensils. There is no dishwasher!
There is a covered outdoor BBQ/dining area with a generously sized table to seat everyone when the house and cabin is at full capacity.
The unattached (but very close) cabin has two sets of bunk beds, a queen sized bed, small living/TV area and bathroom. Great for tweens and teens or when renting the house with another family.
Please note that the tariff is calculated on use of main house only. Use of the unattached cabin is calculated at an extra $40/guest/stay. There is no access to the cabin if it is not in use.
The front garden is fully fenced and features a lovely level lawn. Perfect for a game of summer cricket!
The waterfront side of the property is not securely fenced to contain younger children. The living area (which leads to the waterfront rear of the property) does have a security screen door however. So the property can be secured with young childrens safety in mind.
Swim, kayak, paddle board, cycle or bush walk one of the many graded tracks close to the house. Tennis court hire is easily arranged.
If the weather changes, enjoy a board game (UNO, Scrabble, Junior Scrabble, 5 Second Rule, Scategories...we like games), watch a DVD or enjoy a book from our small but lovely collection. We always pack good wet weather gear and enjoy walking in it.
At this stage the house does not have wifi.
If you don’t feel like cooking, head to Beach Safari for the best fish and chips on the South Coast, local oysters, sourdough bread and pantry essentials (including wine!). Currarong Bowling and Recreation Club is another great option for a meal and tipple.
Woolworths will deliver groceries to the door.
PLEASE NOTE that we do not provide bed linen/towels/beach towels. The beds are made with freshly laundered covered duvets. There are ample extra blankets. Guests can arrange linen hire packages from Aroma Clean Living.
This is a family oriented beach house and is unsuitable for school leavers.
What’s in the name, ‘Wayfarer' ? We love the walking tracks Currarong has to offer as much as the pristine beaches, wildlife and slower pace of life the village offers. IMPORTANT POINTS to remember: NO DISHWASHER, NO WIFI, BRING YOUR OWN BED LINEN, TOWELS or HIRE.
