We've got a pool! 4BR/4BA - BR1:1Q, BR2:1K, BR3:1Q. BR4: 2 Bunk sets (4T) - Enjoy swimming in your private pool at this stunning custom home. A tastefully decorated home offering a spacious, open living, dining and kitchen area, and 2 large double deck furnished porches overlooking private pool area. Relax and enjoy the best of both worlds by spending your mornings at the beach and the evenings in your own private pool oasis. Spectrum Cable TV with high speed internet, sleeper sofa in living room (linens not included), every bedroom has a full bath, loft area, fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, master bath has jetted tub, 3 bedrooms up and 1 bedroom on main level, parking under house. Small public park and dock nearby, drive to the nearest beach access within minutes, grocery, shopping and restaurants within 10-15 minutes ride. No Smoking. No Pets. The Rental Agency staff were amazing. The house not so much. We did not reach out to them once we arrived. Kitchen cabinet was broken, this was an easy fix with tools and the hinge. Instead it fell on one of the kids toes when they were helping make dinner. It’s listed with a fully stocked kitchen I strongly disagree, there is no pasta pot and the pots and pans they did have were pretty worn with one having a loose handle. We found a work light under the end table in the living room, the ice machine and water dispenser didn’t work even after following instructions for the ice machine which is like any other in the freezer. There was a review that listed the property having a grill, it does not so prepare accordingly. There was a knife left on the main steps going up to the door, one of our girls pointed it out when we arrived. The hot water doesn’t last (we are a family of 6) for a house advertised to sleep 10. With kids taking showers under 4 minutes by the time we got in after they finished it was like warm at best. To be fair a lot of these things on their own could have been overlooked but it was frustrating for the price paid vs what you get. The house needs some minor repairs and the kitchen needs restocked with stuff that actually supports a large family or a group up to 10. Positives: the pool was clean, cold but clean. The location was great, quiet and safe to take the kids on walks. The fishing pier at the end of the street was an added bonus we found on a walk!

Could easily be improved to be great but currently is lacking

The privacy and location could make this an amazing property. However, there are a few things that make this house fall short. The house definitely needs a deep clean. The check-in instructions state that due enhanced housekeeping practices and an in-depth inspection check-in could be delayed until 5 pm. There is NO in-depth cleaning or inspection happening currently. The pool was green when we arrived and did not clear up for a few days. The outdoor furniture looks tired. The living room furniture needs to be updated, currently has mismatched slipcovers and the ottoman is very dirty. There is significant staining on the carpet of the first floor bedroom. There were a couple ceiling fans in the house that cannot be used unless the overhead light is on. If you have a large group keep in mind that there are 2 fewer dining chairs than are shown in the photos. I asked a question weeks in advance regarding a baby gate for the steps through the vrbo app and got no response, then emailed the property management company and was told they could not get me any information regarding my question. Also of note, one thing not shown in a picture or mentioned in the listing is whether there is a grill on site. It is listed in the available options to rent through the linen company for $130. We debated renting one, then showed up and there is one on site. Yes, a pleasant surprise but if we had paid for the rental only to find out that it wasn’t necessary I would not be thrilled. So many things about the house could easily be remedied to make the stay more enjoyable.

All of these concerns have been resolved. The pool filtration has been corrected and the home will have a Spring Cleaning coming up very soon.

A week at oak island

House could use a deep cleaning. Trash under beds, food under furniture. I tried to vacuum but vacuum filters are so sorry it will not pick up even very small crumbs. Pool was pea green until Thursday of our vacation week. Pool people came 3 times while we were there to work on the problem. Other than that the priority is very nice and secluded. I would definitely rent again if these problems were resolved!

2021 Summer Beach Trip

Very nice and quiet property with pool perfect for the kids. Less than 10 minutes from amenities and beach access. An improvement on lawn care and pool filtration system would be our recommendation.
