Blue Salt Cottage is a renovated 1940s two bedroom sandstone cottage with spectacular views of Pittwater and within walking distance of Whale Beach and a short drive to Palm Beach (please note there is no onsite parking). This charming farmhouse/coastal cottage is family-friendly & the perfect place for a couples getaway . Our entertaining deck & BBQ area has sweeping views of Pittwater. Inside, guests can enjoy a separate lounge room with a wood fire & TV with Foxtel. Fully-furnished kitchen eat in kitchen & supplied BBQ.
The cottage is situated on Barrenjoey Road and has direct access via Barrenjoey Road, opposite Thyra Road (which is the best place is park during your stay). Our entry has a wooden letterbox and stairs up from the road plus along pathway heading to the cottage with a sandstone stepper path to the grassed area.
Guests enter the cottage into the lounge/TV room which has a two seater couch, arm chair plus bean bag with wood burning fire. Straight ahead, off the lounge room is the master bedroom. To the left is the kitchen and dining room. At one end of this room is the bathroom and the other is the second bedroom.
The lounge opens out to the deck with BBQ and amazing views of Pittwater.
Blue Salt Cottage has been completely been restored bringing this beach shack back to life. We have spent a lot of time and love to give it a warm and inviting feel. It is an extension of our family holiday home with treasures from family properties and we try to leave things in the house which may be helpful, its not just a "holiday rental". We hope you enjoy spending your break in it as much as we do.

EXTRA INFORMATION
Air conditioning in each bedroom with window dressings (block out blinds).
Fully equipped kitchen with Bosch appliances, a large SMEG fridge, combined oven/microwave, dishwasher, combined clothes washer/ dryer, sandwich press soda stream, Nespresso, NutriBullet and Ziegler & Brown BBQ. Cot and highchair available at a cost of $50 per stay.
Owners are not onsite but can be contactable via mobile.
CLEANING FEE of $175 applies to each stay and includes the cost of linen/ towels, and is automatically calculated when you make your booking. Extra cleaning charges will apply if the property is not left in a respectful manner and the House Rules followed with regards particularly to garbage, and BBQ.
We except that all air conditioning and the fire is put out when not in the house. If they are left on after check out a daily fee will be charged. Our cleaning team does not always come to the house on the day of departure, it is important our guests turn off everything before check out.
Please do all dishes and run the dishwasher before leaving. If dishes are not washed, extra cleaning fees may be applied.
During winter months fire starters and a bag of firewood will be provided to guests. Please note that firewood is not provided for the duration of your stay, this can be picked up at the local service station.
No smoking. Extra cleaning fees to remove odour and stains may be applied.
SERVICE FEE is charged by Airbnb on all stays, and is automatically calculated when you make your booking. This is based on a % of the total booking cost. Please note that as hosts we do not receive this fee.
SECURITY BOND (refundable) of $1000 per stay is in addition to the above tariff. Please note that Airbnb hold this security bond on our behalf.
LINEN - quality linen is provided for your stay however you will need to bring your own beach towels or these can be provided at an extra cost. Any spray/fake tan - any marks on linen and furniture will incur charges.
We have provided good quality linen and towels so please treat them with care. Any damage (eg. make up or fake tan) to the linen/ towels will incur a full replacement charge.
CONDITION OF BOOKING/HOUSE RULES - all bookings need to agree to the following before the booking is accepted. A breach of these could lead to a loss of bond.
- All guests to be linked to the booking upon accepting
- Only the number of guests on the booking to stay in the house, if this changes we need to be notified ASAP. There is only 5 adults MAXIMUM to stay at any time.
- NO PETS (even a service or companion animal's need to be disclosed before booking - extra cleaning fees apply if the host agrees)
- No parties of any kind (please see more information below)
- Tampering with security cameras (front door, side of house and carport) could be asked to leave immediately or loss of $1000 bond
BOOKINGS
3 night minimum booking - Easter
3 night minimum booking on long weekends - October
7 night minimum 18th December - 26th January
2 night minimum booking for weekends (including the Saturday night)
PARTIES - STRICT "NO PARTY" or events policy which also includes weddings, post wedding parties, hens/ bucks parries and schoolies bookings as per the terms. If guests are found to have had a party which results in extra cleaning, guests will be responsible for extra cleaning charges and in the unfortunate event of the disruptions alerting neighbours, guests will be asked to vacate immediately.

The property has a lovely homely and tranquil feeling. The property is well-presented and has a beautiful outlook, is clean, and in a great location. I would definitely book it again!
We stayed for 2 nights to attend a lunch engagement at Jonah’s
Blue salt cottage is absolutely charming, the owner even left snacks and a cheese board to welcome us, which was a lovely gesture thank you. The view is amazing and it is located close to Jonah’s restaurant. On the final day we walked up to Palm beach lighthouse which I highly recommend. Overall a lovely experience thanks Rebecca and family for sharing your home.
Clean, beautifully appointed and a great location. Rained every day but it didn’t matter because the cottage is a wonderful place to hang out to read, play games and relax and there’s so much to do in the area that is non-beach related (movies, great book store, wine bars and walks). Thought we would cook (the kitchen is excellent!) but didn’t because with the superb whale beach deli for morning sustenance and so many nice restaurants at hand we couldn’t be bothered! We’ll definitely stay again.

Beautiful place, terrible access
The place was stunning and beautifully designed. Unfortunately the access to the cottage was a huge downfall. It doesn’t really mention that the only access means crossing an extremely busy road with your luggage. I checked in alone with my baby and I had to run across the road 5 times with my baby carrying bags up to the place. Very very dangerous. The description also implies you can walk to whale beach, this is certainly not the case. There is no walking from this area to anywhere, you need a car if you are staying here.

Thank you for your review. Our listing stated that the cottage is on Barrenjoey Rd and parking in on Thyra Rd. If you read the listing you would be aware of this. I am sorry that you had a bad experience arriving in Sydney and the rental company gave away your baby seat hence you arrived on your own without your husband. This was something out of our control and we shouldn't wear the negative experience.
The cottage has stairs up to Surf Rd past our main house which runs down to Whale Beach which is an easy walk. So unless you aren't into waking it is easily accessible.
These guests left the cottage in a state ignoring all check out rules so the garbage wasn't collected etc. They walked out leaving things everywhere and the most upsetting thing was vomit on a quilt plus sheets. I wouldn't rent to Daizie or her group as she had no respect for our cottage. Thus group wasn't our normal Stayz clientele.
Property was under construction and renovations and not fit for rental.
In the state that the property was in for our stay, it should not have been available for rent.
Workmen were onsite and using heavy machinery at 7:00am for two of the three mornings within one metre of the bedroom windows..
Construction material and rubbish lined the only pathway to the cottage and the stairs to the beach were blocked due to the excavation work.
Workmen looked into the cottage windows while onsite.
There was no privacy for guests and access to property was dangerous given the workmen, heavy machinery and construction rubbish piled up along the only path to cottage.
On top of this, the property's smoke alarm had been removed.
This property was not fit for rental and this was brought to the owner's attention and we have received no reply after three weeks.
I now find that the property is no longer available for rent and shouldn't have been at the time of our stay.
We have photographic evidence of all the above and feel that we deserve a full refund.
We would appreciate that Stayz contact us regarding our inconveniences, as the owner has failed to do so.

I rented both this cottage and the top house for my 50th birthday. Everything inside the house is just as it looks in the pictures, so it’s very nicely appointed and well priced.
The owner is very quick to respond to questions, which is helpful. The owner also let us check in a couple of hours early, which was sincerely appreciated.
The major issue for my guests was not being able to sleep past 5am because of the thundering traffic on Barrenjoey Road just below the house. I have never stayed in Palm Beach, so didn’t realise this was an issue with the suburb. My friends and I are all lucky to live in very quiet parts of Sydney, so it was an unwelcome surprise to realise we were somewhere with constant traffic noise.
The other disappointment was that the prominently pictured kayaks and stand up paddle board did not come with lifejackets, because they are not really part of the rental. That would have been helpful to know upfront. It would be better if those pictures were deleted from the listing. I had two lifejackets with me because I brought a canoe from home, so we did use the kayaks, and the owner didn’t seem to mind, but our vision of a group paddling adventure didn’t work out.
Overall I would say that you would be very happy with the house if you don’t mind traffic noise, and you weren’t relying on using the watercraft.
The property was even nicer than I expected. Roomy, nice views of the water, lots of light (and good blinds when light not wanted). A nice cheese waiting for us, too. Quiet. Parking convenient. We were in town for a wedding at Jonah's, which was very convenient; we also swam at Whale Beach (invigorating) and had breakfast at Palm Beach (delicious). Thanks!
Stayed with my brother and sister-in-law for 4 nights to attend my nephews wedding. The photos did not lie. It was the quaintest. Little house and we had so much fun. Would totally recommend. Parking was not an issue at all. Thanks Rebecca, great house and great host.
We felt very comfortable with the cottage. It was very well set up for a perfect weekend. It did not matter if it rained or had clear skies, we were able to feel cosy and at home with all you provided. We loved being welcomed with special treats to settle into our stay. A slice of the south of France in tropical Palm Beach
I didn't want to leave this charming cottage after spending 6 nights there. It was private, comfortably appointed in French provincial style, and the lush tropical garden and view to Pittwater were lovely and very restful. The owner, Rebecca was friendly and prompt in communication. I will definitely be back.
Fantastic week at blue salt cottage - the house provided the relaxing tonic we needed after a hectic few months - the extra touches that Rebecca provides are very much appreciated- gorgeous place.

We are family of 5 with 3 active kids. We purchased this property (Blue Salt) in 2019 and have undertaken a transformational renovation which we hope you enjoy our beautiful home as much as our family does. We have travelled extensively so understand what people like in a property and have tried to provide everything to ensure you stay is enjoyable.

We bought this property given its convenient location (close to the beach, wedding venues, cafe's etc...), amazing views of Pittwater, and its proximity to Sydney. The cottage presented an opportunity to transform one of the original sandstone cottages in Palm Beach for ourselves and others to enjoy.
