About this property
Whitewater River House - A Riverside Retreat in Brookville, Indiana
We are located on the beautiful Whitewater River just one mile from the charming town of Brookville. Get away from it all and relax by the river! Kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, exploring, barbequing, or just relaxing. This is the perfect getaway for families or small groups looking for fun and relaxation! The river is literally steps from your front door. Sit back and let the sound of flowing waters soothe your soul! Whether you're planning a relaxing weekend retreat or a week-long adventure, the River House has everything you need for a memorable stay.
Why You’ll Love The Whitewater River House
* The house is a duplex so you will have two independent, side-by-side living areas. Each side has a separate entrance, fully equipped kitchen, living room, and bathroom. Perfect for couples visiting together, friend-cations, families, and small family reunions.
* Large iighted picnic pavilion on the river. Excellent space to picnic, grill (charcoal and propane grills), or just hang out with friends and loved ones. A deck box contains outdoor toys such as cornhole, horseshoes and volleyball. There are two large tables with benches for gatherings, and adirondack chairs for sitting back.
* Surrounded by nature: Enjoy a setting surrounded by nature’s beauty, perfect for unwinding and recharging.Whether it is the walnut and sycamore trees along the riparian edge, the bald eagles that fly over daily, or even the occasional beaver, there is much to see and experience.
* The Whitewater River is your backyard: Spend your days fishing, kayaking, tubing, or just walking the long seasonal beach (river height dependent).
* Cozy Evenings: Relax by the fire pit with s’mores under a starlit sky, or curl up with a good book.
* Perfect Location: Brookville Lake and its boating facilities and hiking trails are less than 10 minutes away. We are less than a mile outside of the charming town of Brookville with it's local shops, cafes, and historic sites. Don't forget to check out Metamora, the historic Whitewater Canal, Oldenburg with its amazing architecture, and even Miami University- all within a half hour drive.
Note that this is one of two properties we rent out on the river. The river access in front of the Whitewater River House is shared with the Yellow Farmhouse (https://www.vrbo.com/4445410, sleeps 6), 500 feet down the road. The Whitewater River House is best for guests wanting river views and the picnic pavilion. Guests preferring more privacy and a bit more upscale accommodations but can sacrifice the river views may prefer the Yellow Farmhouse. We suggest potential guests compare both properties.
