About this property
Bloomin Pickets Farmhouse Stay OR Ladies Craft Retreat!
Welcome to a step back in time! We are inviting you to enjoy the farm that I grew up on. It is over 100 years old. We have incorporated A LOT of history from our renovation, which tells the story of the family farm and the way things used to be. Some say it's like a museum. For me, it's a tribute to all of the hard work of my family and we hope you will enjoy that too!
WE ARE NOW OFFERING the house as a CRAFTING RETREAT for up to 6 ladies! Most craft projects can be accommodated. There are six, 5' tables per person. Each has their own outlets, cutting mats, silicone protective mats, LED desk lights and waste baskets. Extras include an ironing board, iron and glue guns. Tables are rated at 260lbs. Rolling chairs -300lbs.
The crafting area is in a newly renovated porch addition, with natural lighting from 8 windows and views out onto the gardens! There are a couple steps to access this room; it is not handicap accessible.
Please look at the pictures provided of the crafting area. No dying of fibers can be accommodated. Please have your group lead contact me with the ages in group and the type of craft, before booking. Thank you.
All rooms have been updated back to its historical beginnings, from it's hardwood floors and some original decor, but we've added modern amenities. There are 5 bedrooms. Four have full-size beds upstairs; the lower level has a queen. There are plenty of bed linens and extra pillows.
We have 2 full baths. The bath upstairs has the original cast iron tub, with shower. The lower level bath, has a walk in shower. Plenty of towels provided. Hair dryers and toiletries are available if needed.
Everything that you need to cook with is in the kitchen! Our updated kitchen boasts a cast iron sink, butcher block counter tops, coffee bar area and real barn board decor. The island is a converted dresser, which holds some of my mom’s favorite cookbooks, if you’d like to try a new recipe. There are plenty of eating spaces - one off of the kitchen and a formal dining room.
We also have a patio area to enjoy, with a gas grill and recently added a boulder fire pit on our old barnyard to enjoy, weather permitting.
There is a living room with a TV. We have a video library of VHS and DVD's if you'd like to enjoy a movie. There isn’t Dish network or cable, but there are over 20 local channels. In the front porch, I have some of my board games from when I was a kid. That’s from over 50 years ago!
We do have high speed internet, to keep you connected and a landline phone, if you’d like to make a call using a phone book!
If you see in our pictures, that we have a quilt on our barn. We are one of 150 quilts located across our county. We have a brochure with a map, if you'd like to take a tour, to see all of these beautiful quilts! Ours is called "Rainbow Blossom".
At Christmas time, the months of Dec and Jan, every room is decorated. Because of safety issues, we just can't allow small children. I normally child proof the home, but I can't remove all the decor that I have. If you have any questions, please ask. Thank you.
If you would like to learn about the history of our farm, please let us know. We would love to tell you how the farm operated years ago. I have had nothing but great memories while growing up here. It is our wish that you will leave our farm with great memories of your own!
Other things about the farm: (this is during the growing season) With over 3 acres of lawn and gardens, we might have to do some watering, lawn care while you are staying with us. Please know that we will be mindful of your privacy. We are always working on the flower beds, so not all are totally manicured, but a lot to see none the less!
Even though we are located on a country road, we do have some cars and farm machinery going by during the day, during the growing season. Typically by evening, things are pretty quiet. See the pictures for location from roadway.
