We renovated but retained all the gorgeous woodwork and leaded glass windows.
Ceiling fans in the foyer & living have remotes. Kitchen fan has wall switches.

About this property

Enjoy the peace at our County Escape! Charm & beauty - inside & outdoor areas!

Spend the holidays, weekend, week or longer (2 night minimum) in a country setting in a vintage, but carefully renovated 1910 farmhouse! While we're in the country, we also are close to many attractions! Galena, IL shopping! A 45 minute drive, but much lesser cost than rentals in the Galena area. Dubuque, IA - only 1 hour away. Day trips for site seeing, gambling, boat rides! Madison - Wisconsin's state capitol! So much to do and about 1.25 hours away. Easy, scenic drive. (We're located 25 minutes south of Monroe, WI, and 9 miles from the WI border) Milwaukee and Chicago - 2 hour drive! And our Country Escape is well worth it!
Our Calendar is updated with the current availability. Our first guests stayed in July 2022 and our last guests in 2025 were there for Christmas. We have availability for 2026 - spring, summer, fall and early winter!

Please be assured that you will find mostly everything needed for your stay. I can't say everything because I don't know everyone's needs, but ... read our reviews to learn what people have said about our Country Escape! We are experienced vacation rental owners! We've been doing this since the early 2010's. Our winter home in Queen Creek AZ has a small house which is used for others looking to escape harsh winters. We are experienced having renters on the same property as we live on. We've actually made wonderful friends with our renters.

Rolling lawn areas, woods with trails, expansive outdoor living areas including rugged fire pit and propane fire pit table. Home retained vintage charm while offering modern amenities.

Owner occupied! But don't worry, we like our privacy also. :) Separate living and outdoor areas from our guests. 2 entrances used solely by guests during their stay. Locked doors inside that prevents access to the owner quarters (a 2nd floor hallway, and the attic!) If this gives you pause, please contact us. We are experienced in this set up and have put measures in place to ensure our guest's comfort. Most of our guests have stated they'll be coming back if at all possible!

What a great experience! The home is beautiful, spacious, and well-appointed. The setting was perfect for us, with plenty of everything we needed, both indoors and out, and very gracious, accommodating hosts. Will definitely stay there again on our next trip to the area!

Great place in the country

My daughter thoroughly enjoyed playing in the huge open space in the backyard, walking the paths in the woods and taking golf cart rides with Bob. The house was beautifully decorated and very clean. Lots of personal touches to make it feel like home.

The listing is underated for sure. Beautiful home, peaceful location, nice walking trail on property and within short driving distance to multiple trails. Brewery within a one and a half miles. Above & Beyond Expectations

We needed a place near our mom's assisted living facility for our family Christmas. This place did not disappoint. The owners were so accommodating. They put up beautiful Christmas decorations even when we said it was not necessary but it so added to the warm feeling. Everything we needed for meal preparation was there. When weather changed the timing of our arrival and departure, they accommodated on that as well. We hope to come back in the future.
