About this property
A Great Riverfront Retreat With Stunning Views--Unlike Any in the County
A Great Home in a Resort-Like Setting
This gorgeous 4-bedroom/3-bathroom, split-level home has a fabulous view of the Calaveras River and expansive oak-covered hills and is located in private, one-of-a-kind settings. It has a combination of hardwood floors (living room, dining, stairs, and landing and tile (lower stairs and entryway) and plush carpet (in the four bedrooms) for you to enjoy. Three discrete redwood balconies circle the top level of the home furnishing nearly a 360-degree view of the surrounding country.
The wrap-around deck about the swimming pool is also a good place to repose after a day’s activity and drink in the rustic grandeur that abounds the home: the mountains, a plethora of birds (including a flock of wild turkeys), deer, and other animals, and the lap of green and a carpet of flowers along the foothills (during the winter and spring seasons, golden grass during the summer), the drooping mature oaks, the free form in-ground Geremia pool, the 20-by-20-foot covered gazebo and fenced garden with sprinklers and drip irrigation.
The sound of the river is hypnotic, lulling you to readily fall asleep on the deck or in the gazebo for an afternoon siesta. The gazebo, furnished in a living room style with a comfortable sofa and chairs, cushioned stools, and coffee table is equipped with a refrigerator, a large table, and several extra chairs that can be used for more sitting.
It is located 115 miles North-East of San Francisco Bay Area, about the same distance from Lake Tahoe, 75 miles from Sacramento, and 25 miles from Stockton.
Besides the local beauty one can enjoy, there is a lot to see and do in the greater Calaveras County. These range from the historic and picturesque gold rush towns to the great foothill vineyards and taste rooms, microbreweries, and pubs to the eclectic art galleries, antique shops, and gold rush museums and the Heavenly Valley snow ski resort which is about 1 hour away.
Then there are the natural wonders: the hundreds of limestone and crystalline-filled caves and caverns–-many that you can explore on your own but there are also public ones (cave city, mercer and moaning caverns being examples), the abundance of lakes and reservoirs (some of which are listed below), Big Tree and Stanislaus Natural Forests and ski resorts (such as Bear Valley which is about an hour away). You can enjoy different activities in all seasons–-winter and summer sports, hike and bike, go gold-panning or horseback riding, fishing and boating as well as enjoy a round of golf on professional courses laid out along canyon ridges in the pines or among 200-year-old oaks in rolling hills.
* WIFI - Because of the remoteness of the home from the main
wIFI hub, we use a Verizon hotspot - good enough to browse the Internet and check email.
Lakes, water views, and fun: Calaveras County in general, and the Central Sierra Foothills, in particular, are blessed with a great number of beautiful lakes and reservoirs. Examples:
HOGAN RESERVOIR--A 7-minute drive from the house; LAKE CAMANCHE--a 15-minute drive from the house is located on the western side of the Sierra-Nevada foothills; LAKE MELONES--A 45-minute drive from the house; and LAKE TULLOCH-–Located south-east of Valley Springs, at a distance of about 20 miles from the house

About the host
Hosted by Maria/Jp

My husband and I have been managing this property since 2016. We fell in love with it the first time we saw it and felt blessed that the former owner chose us over other competing buyers. We enjoy sharing it with our guests but we ask that they respect and treat it like their own.
We have Persian rugs in the living/dining rooms and whiter carpets in the bedrooms. We have a few plastic runners in high-traffic areas to catch any soda or coffee spills. This has happened although one of our House Rules is not to drink or eat in the bedrooms. So the runners help us and the guests from any damage issues that may ensue if we didn't have them

Why they chose this property
Read the descriptions above and below. It's a beautiful and unique property--that feels like your own home--not a rental place!
What makes this property unique
1. a very serene place to relax and enjoy nature and yourself
2. the view is so beautiful that you can relish it from many vantage points on the property
3. it's surrounded by trees and far enough from neighbors, that you'd feel like you're in your own world.
4. The sound of the river is delightful and soothing, the kind of uniqueness you don't find in most other rentals
5. You can expect to see wild turkeys, quails, and other birds roaming the grounds nearby, many of them roost on the bull pine trees in the vicinity.
6. The house is large enough that adults and children can have their own spaces
(If children are too young, make sure that the doors to the balconies are locked)
