The Space:
This apartment is part of a renovated 1919 historic home with three separate apartments, all internally connected and thoughtfully restored. While each unit is private and self-contained, larger groups may also book the full house to enjoy the entire space together.
Apartment 1, located on the step-free first floor, is fully accessible, stylish, and exceptionally comfortable. It includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms, ideal for families, small groups, and guests with limited mobility.

• Pet Policy:
We’re happy to welcome well-behaved dogs and may allow other pets with advance approval. Please include all pets as pets in your guest count at booking. A non-refundable pet fee will be automatically applied when pets are included in your reservation.
- We ask that pets not be left unattended for extended periods, and that you keep them leashed in shared outdoor areas. Be sure to pick up after your pets and prevent them from climbing on furniture or beds.
- If your pet causes damage or leaves an excessive mess (including hair, dirt, or accidents), an additional cleaning fee may be charged.
You are fully responsible for any animals you bring or allow on the property.
• Events & Gatherings:
Events or gatherings with outside guests are not permitted in this apartment. If you’re interested in hosting a gathering, please inquire about renting the full house.
• Accessibility:
This apartment is on the ground floor with step-free access, a curbless shower, wide walkways, and accessible features throughout—great for guests with limited mobility.
• Shared Areas:
The laundry area and outdoor spaces (including the porch, grill, hammocks, and fire pit) are shared with guests staying in the other two apartments in the building and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Guest Access:
Guests will have exclusive access to the apartment during their stay. The outdoor areas of the house and laundry room are available to all guests on a first-come, first-serve basis. We do have a local team of cleaners and maintenance people, should any issues arise during your stay, but for the most part, we try to give you space to enjoy your stay. The Neighborhood:
Charles on 11th is in the historic Southside neighborhood, known for its diversity, vibrancy, historic charm, and proximity to downtown. We love the location of this house! Just down the block from Southside Market, which has all of your basic grocery needs (and a great selection of local beer), and a few blocks from UAB, Saws BBQ, the Alys Stephens Center, and Dreamland BBQ. Interested in historic architecture? A block away you'll find Glen Iris Park, Birmingham's first planned community, with a mix of homes of various styles, and a beautiful walking trail through it all. Traveling with pets or kids? Head to George Ward Park, our favorite park in Birmingham, with two separate dog parks, an assortment of sporting fields and tennis courts, a planned frisbee golf course, and plenty of paths and shade.
Getting Around:
Charles on 11th is just a couple of miles from most of Birmingham's most popular attractions: Railroad Park, the Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Avondale, Sloss Furnace, the Art Museum, Regions Field, Vulcan Park, and Downtown's Entertainment and Civil Rights Districts. All are easily accessibly by bike or by car/Lyft/Uber.

• Historic Building:
This apartment is on the ground floor of a 1919 home with two other units above. Because of the home’s age, you may hear footsteps or other sounds from above. We provide earplugs and enforce quiet hours (9 PM – 9 AM), but if you’re sound-sensitive, this may not be the best fit.
• Shared Areas:
The laundry room and outdoor spaces (front porch, fire pit, grill, hammocks) are shared with guests in the other two apartments and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
• Events:
Events and gatherings with outside guests are not permitted in this unit. Please inquire if you’re interested in renting the entire house for a private event.

This home is part of a quiet, residential neighborhood and a carefully restored historic property. We’ve designed this apartment to be a welcoming, comfortable space for guests of all backgrounds and abilities. In return, we ask that you treat it—and the community around it—with the same respect and care we put into creating it.
Please follow these simple guidelines during your stay:
• The Golden Rule: Please treat the home, furnishings, neighbors, and outdoor spaces as you would want yours treated.
• Noise Awareness: Quiet hours are from 9 PM to 9 AM. Keep voices, music, and TV at respectful levels, especially in shared outdoor spaces and in units with adjoining walls.
• Guest Count & Visitors: All people and pets must be included in your guest count when you book. Unapproved guests or visitors are not allowed.
• Pets:
• Dogs are welcome, and other pets may be allowed with advance approval.
• Pets must be included as pets in your booking, and a non-refundable pet fee applies.
• Clean up after your pets and do not leave them unattended for long periods.
• Additional cleaning fees will apply if pets cause damage or leave excessive mess (e.g. hair, dirt, accidents).
• You are responsible for all pets you bring onto the property.
• No Smoking or Vaping: No smoking or vaping is allowed inside the apartment or on the porch. Please step outside and dispose of waste properly. A $500 cleaning fee applies if this rule is broken.
• No Parties or Gatherings: Events and gatherings with outside guests are not permitted in this unit. To host a gathering, please inquire about booking the full house.
• Leave the Space Tidy:
We pay our cleaning team a living wage and work to keep cleaning fees reasonable. Laundry, disinfection, and reset take time—please help by doing your part.
- Wash any dishes you’ve used
- Clean up spills or messes
- Put all trash in indoor bins (our team will take it out for you)
- If the apartment is left in excessively dirty condition (e.g. trash left around, food spills, pet mess, furniture stains), an additional cleaning fee will be charged to cover extra time required.
• Don’t Move Furniture or Decor: The space is carefully arranged—please enjoy it as it is. Additional cleaning fees may apply if furniture is moved.
• Damage or Issues: Please let us know immediately if anything breaks or needs attention. You’re responsible for any damage caused during your stay, including by pets or guests you invite to the property.
• Respect Shared Spaces: The porch, backyard, fire pit, and laundry room are shared with guests in the other two apartments. Please be courteous and clean up after yourself so everyone can enjoy these areas.
• Disturbances: If your group causes a disturbance or nuisance, you may be asked to leave and forfeit the remainder of your reservation. Additional fees will apply if your actions require extra cleaning or result in refunds to other guests.
