About this property

A Charming Aspen Victorian, Resplendent with Art

WHY IT'S SPECIAL-

This idyllically positioned East Hopkins home is a charming Victorian, just two blocks from Ajax. Originally built in 1889 by the founder of the Aspen Times newspaper, The Observatory is a historic Aspen landmark.

In 2002 it won the Colorado Award for Remodeling Excellence, combining its whimsical Victorian nature with upscale amenities and appliances along with a collection of over 50 pieces of renowned art. The pièce de résistance is the copper-domed observatory and telescope on the rooftop, installed by a former owner as a gift to her stargazing son.

AMENITIES-

A gourmet kitchen is perfect for hosting large groups, and the quirky media room is the perfect place to relax after a long day on the mountain.

A modern and beautiful outdoor patio with an al fresco dining area and hot tub are hot are ideal for gathering with friends and family no matter the season. And a heated two-car garage and the ability to walk to the slopes or Aspen's famed restaurants complete this home.

THE LOCATION-

Mountain views and a downtown location combined with authentic Colorado history, make The Observatory a truly unique experience. Its East Hopkins location is just one block to Aspen's renowned restaurants, boutiques and the Aspen Opera House.

You'll enjoy endless options of some of the country's finest cuisine, soak up even more history at the Aspen Art Museum or enjoy the beauty of the John Denver Sanctuary--all just steps from your front door.

Great house, great location, great manager
This was my second time staying at this property. The location is convenient for skiing access on Aspen Mtn, transportation at Ruby Park, and the whole downtown area. The property manager was exceptionally responsive to any issues that arose. Would definitely stay again.
