Host communication was great! She texted me when the cottage was ready early. The beds were very comfortable and the neighborhood was quiet so we slept great! I would stay here again if ever in the area.
Like visiting grandma's house, except beds were too high and too close to wall. Small frig.

From the owner: "Thank you for the feedback. I’m sorry that you found the apartment fridge too small. Most of my renters only stay a weekend. I hope you enjoyed your stay."
We planned a last minute trip to the mountains for Thanksgiving weekend to visit a Christmas tree farm and cut our own tree. Although it was last minute, the owner was wonderful to work with and accommodating in every way. We arrived later on Thanksgiving night and even though it was a holiday, she had prepared a warm welcome for us with heaters on, fireplace "blazing" on the television, and coffee pot set to start. We found the house exactly as described and enjoyed all the quaint, homey touches throughout. The location and access to the home were perfect as well. No steep driveways or steps to surmount so great for any who need easier accessibility. And while there is some unevenness to the floors that some other reviews commented on, we all agreed that it is only what you typically find with older homes (which the owner clearly states) and was not troublesome at all. Overall, we were overjoyed with our stay and look forward to possibly returning in the future.
After sitting 8-hours in a car, my legs were stiff. I walked into the entrance and started to lean to the right. At first I was not sure if it was me or what. I had to laugh, it reminded me of Cosmo, in South Dakota. If you have ever been there, you will know what I mean. The floors lean left/right. You go up hill and downhill in the same room. And doors and walls lean another way. It did not take long to adapt to the quirky floors. The house was clean. Furniture used, but comfy. The yard could use some work. Trees trimmed; flower bed brought under control. Everything we needed was there. Room in the cabinets for our things! The beds were comfy. I slept well here. The neighborhood is dark and very quite. We also greatly enjoyed the firepit and sitting out on the front porch. The location was pretty central to all of the things we wanted to do in the area. It was just a short drive to Newland and restaurants, grocery store, gas station. I give my approval by saying, I would stay here again.
What a quaint and cozy cabin. Perfect location to get to everything.

No Air Conditioning
It was very convenient to Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and we had no trouble getting to and from the linville lot
But the lack of Air Conditioning and fans made the evening’s humid and miserable. The house is quaint and cute but not for kids or those with vertigo. If you stay in July/August bring your own fan or a way to stay cool. We would not have paid as much as we did had we known there was no air. Advertisement on VRBO stated there was a window unit. Not so. Also no ceiling fans or floor fans.

Response from owner: "Donna, I'm so sorry that you had an issue with the cottage. As the weather gets warmer each year the need for AC has become an issue. We do have a window unit available and I'm sorry that it didn't get installed before your stay. I apologize for my mistake!"

Good Location, Lots of Charm, Many Quirks
The house is in a great location between Roan Mountain and Grandfather Mountain. The view from the front porch is the rear of a business, but the rest of the surroundings are lush and green. Inside is charmingly decorated and all the needs are supplied. The only problem is that every room is on a distinct slant. It's kind of like the tilted house at the county fair. Careful with the fridge since the slant sometimes means that you don't close the door when you think you have. The tub is the most problematic since it is a bit slippery in there and the slant adds to unsure footing. We also had a lot of large black ants. Overall it is a nice cottage and I would recommend it. Just be ready to walk up and down hills while at home and not just on the nearby hiking trails.

Hi Keith, we're glad you enjoyed your stay overall, but we're sorry that you experienced some issues during your trip. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and we wanted to share the following:
- The listing description accurately states due to the home's historic nature, the property does feature endearing quirks like slightly slanted floors, but we're sorry if this caught you off guard.
- The owner appreciates your feedback about the surface of the tub. Since your stay, anti-slip/grip pads have been added to the tub bottom.
- The ants were discovered right before your arrival. The owner immediately contacted Terminex, and they were able to come to the property the next day to address the issue.
Thanks for letting us know about your stay, and we hope to host you again soon!
As childhood best friends, we had an incredible time visiting after not seeing each other for 15 months due to Covid. Our host was incredible and the cottage is the perfect drive to Boone! We will definitely be back!
My adult children and I enjoyed ringing in the new year at Ms Lillians. It was the sweetest and most cozy cottage. We loved every minute of our stay. Our hostess was delightful and so friendly. She anticipated our every need. This was her Grandmother’s home which made it even more special. We made beautiful memories we will always cherish.

Perfect Family Thanksgiving!
We booked this house last-minute for our little family (mom, dad and 3-year-old son). We decided not to see extended family for Thanksgiving due to Covid, so we wanted a special getaway for our family unit. This house was perfect!
The owner has made sure every detail is taken care of. There was even coffee in the coffee pot - ready to be turned on - when we arrived (as well as an unopened half and half in the refrigerator - and teas, coffee syrups, etc.). We were able to get all of our questions answered easily before arrival, and the house was super clean. We arrived after dark, and the lights were all on in the house for us - and the heat was set to a cozy level. It was rainy and cold when we got there, so this was such a great welcome.
We had Thanksgiving dinner at the house, and it was one of our best ever! The house has so many little details that make it fun and cozy. The decor is eclectic, and there are little treasures to see in every room. The front porch is great for morning coffee and evening cocktails, and the fire pit was just great! Our son wanted to do a fire each evening, and we made the best memories cozying up to the fire and making s‘mores.
The little town that this house sits in is exactly what we wanted. It has beautiful scenery and is close to everything. We visited Linville Falls for a hike, got takeout barbecue in Linville, found a great family Christmas tree farm (and got our family tree!) nearby and went on drives to look at the mountains. It is very close to the Blueridge Parkway - which has great Mountain views. Grandfather Mountain is super close, as are a couple of wineries. There are also a grocery store and drug stores nearby. Everything you’ll need is close!
This house is charming, cozy, very clean and the perfect cottage for a mountain getaway. It has all the modern necessities like a big TV (smart TV for your Netflix binging!) and great WiFi. The owner has made sure all the details are taken care of, and you can tell much thought and love has gone into making the house a great getaway for guests. We would book this house again!!
