Delightful Stone cottage situated on the picturesque McMillan Straight with amazing views across the lake and the majestic mountains in the distance.

The many restaurants and cafes of Paynesville are within walking distance of the cottage. Alternatively, you may prefer to sit at your own coffee bar and enjoy the water view, watching the boats go by. We are sometimes visited by some of the 65 dolphins that live in the Gippsland lakes, playing in the water and around your jetty.

This unique property is tastefully decorated throughout with many interesting features, including beautiful art deco doors leading out to your private BBQ area overlooking the local wildlife.

Hosts are very friendly and have a very charming, incredibly well provisioned cottage surrounded by beautiful gardens and located in a unique setting. Such a lovely place to stay!
Raymond Island has endless opportunities for bird watching!
Koala spotting was also fun!
The unit has a very old wind up record player that is quite a novel attraction.
The ferry trip on and off the island is really easy and a different type of commute to our regular Melbourne lives.

The perfect cottage

A lovely cottage, full of personal attention to details and thoughtful sweet amenities. Located in a quiet part of the island, perfect for walks along the waterfront. I highly recommend for wildlife loving romantics.

A secluded cottage

This delightful cottage is situated behind The Lakehouse and due to the surrounding colourful garden, it is very private. The interior is full of quirky items and fun things to discover. Our hosts included many delicious treats including coffee beans for the real coffee machine and some home made lemon slices and a bottle of wine.

Peaceful and quiet! Everything you could need is right there. Tasteful furnishings with a touch of quirky in the ornaments. Bed was super comfortable and shower nice and hot. Perfect place to end a honeymoon. Highly recommended!

The Fishermans Cottage

This property is in the back of a tranquil garden setting which is reminiscent of a Beatrix Potter/Peter Rabbit story. It was perfect if you are looking for a quiet, romantic getaway with only the noise of the odd motorboat breaking the silence. Sunsets were beautiful, the lake divine. This was a week neither of us will forget...

Simply amazing

Our stay on Raymond Island was more than we could have hoped for. The property is in the best location possible and was simply beautiful. Special mention the Gail, Geoff & Billy, the owners who are the most amazing hosts we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Watching the sunsets from the decking on the house is a magical memory never to be forgotten. Everything you possibly needed was at your fingertips Birds singing everywhere in the country garden. An easy walk along the waterfront to the ferryto go on a 5 minute trip to mainland.Plenty of eateries in Paynesville. Being at the cottage was delightful.

It’s located in the garden of the hosts’ home, so they meet & greet, give local info with friendly banter, & even baked us fresh lemon slice. They also offered us their bikes to ride, which we took out for an all-day adventure; around Raymond Island, across the ferry to explore Paynesville, & a sweltering hot, but fun, ride to Eagle Point. Playing like teens in the day & sleeping like oldies that night.Although the island has no convenient shops, cafes, & restaurants, we loved the novelty of riding the ferry to Paynesville each day. The island was peaceful & magical at late afternoon & dusk when we saw mobs of kangaroos grazing behind the cottage, some bouncing through front yards, & look out for the elusive koalas in the gum trees. We whole-heartedly recommend this Raymond Is experience & this gorgeous Fisherman’s Cottage.

Well equipped, comfortable, views

Our first getaway out of Melbourne was a little spur of the moment (Archibald Prize Exhibition at Sale closes soon and is well worth the trip). Quirky decorations in a self contained cottage set up with all we needed for a comfortable stay (bed and lounge seating). Spectacular water views at front of property and quaint cottage garden views. Kangaroos in the back paddock and an assortment of colourful wildlife including parrots, cockatoos and pelicans. Don't forget to factor in the Ferry ride from Paynesville if you have somewhere to be on time on the return trip (schedule available online). Geoff and Gail were very hospitable and communication before and during stay was appreciated. I had taken some extras for cooking but needn't have bothered. Well equipped kitchen with sharp knives, all necessary utensils and microwave and grill / stovetop / oven. Gail had laid on breakfast (cereal) options and milk, butter, top shelf instant tea and coffee. Coffee machine also an option . We weren't able to enjoy the outdoor deck area as the weather was freezing, windy and wet during our stay, but would have been very pleasant on a reasonable day. The heater kept us cosy and warm. Highly recommended and we hope to return for a longer stay to explore what Gippsland has to offer.

FISHERMAN'S COTTAGE

Secluded, private little cottage at rear of owner's water fronting house & garden. Spotless, warm, comfortable accommodation - lounge, kitchen bedroom & bathroom with modern appliances in a quaint old world setting. Hosts were very welcoming, allowing us to sit in their garden as desired. Loved passing kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, swans & ducks on the road as we walked the island.
