About this property
WV31 Sky Surfer by First Flight Rentals
Sky Surfer at Waves Village Resort — The Top-Floor Flagship
Top floor. South corner. Nothing above you and water in every direction. Sky Surfer is Waves Village's premium perch — panoramic sound views by day, and nightly sunsets pouring through 10-foot sliders into a waterfront living area finished with rosewood and leather furniture, surround sound, and vaulted ceilings. The long, furnished soundfront corner deck runs the show outside, anchored by a private hot tub with the sunset dead ahead.
Three Masters, One Jacuzzi
Every bedroom is a master: a king with tiled shower, a queen with deck access and its own tile shower, and the showpiece — a large king master with a huge south-facing window and a tiled bath with a large Jacuzzi tub, the only one in the community. A queen sleeper in the living room brings capacity to eight. The open kitchen matches the polish with soapstone counters, stainless appliances, and a breakfast bar built for entertaining, over warm wood-laminate floors with tile accents. Beds made, washer/dryer, and Wi-Fi included. Dogs welcome ($150 per dog, maximum of 2).
Full-Service Below
Waves Village runs like a resort because it is one: onsite staff, Good Winds Restaurant & Bar, a coffee shop, surf shop, and ropes course, plus the outdoor pool and sundeck, outdoor shower, kiteboarding and watersports launches, air pumps, and gear storage with board racks. The onsite Kitty Hawk Kites store supplies equipment and instructors for the vacation of a lifetime.
Good to Know
The pictured fireplace is decorative and non-working. Balcony grills are not a reliable amenity and propane is not provided — plan dinners around Good Winds or the kitchen.
Elevator access is available (a community amenity, not controlled by the homeowner, and not guaranteed; guests requiring elevator access for mobility reasons are encouraged to contact us prior to booking).

The corner unit, on the top floor, provided a quiet and private location for the holiday. There was ample room for the six of us, and our dog, in the three-BR condo. I especially liked the balcony and the view - not having to look at other condos or houses. Peaceful to have only the water view.
This house had everything that we needed for our week's stay. It is located on the Pamlico sound for some very beautiful sunsets , and yards away from the Rodanthe Fishing Pier.
My one and only critique is that the house receive a deep clean. Dust was very noticeable on the picture frames to the baseboards, but that did not stop us from enjoying everything this had to offer.

Unit not clean, last user did not remove all their stuff in kitchen cabinets, refrigerator shelf doors broken all three, stove locked could not open it unless I messed with door to open it. Kitchen door to cabinet broke. Only one pot to boil water, cheap kitchen hardware. Elevator not working, its hard to get up steps when you are a senior. Never will rent from this company again. I have been renting at Rodanthe for 30 years. This was the worst rental ever. The only plus the agent always responded to my emails.

Beautiful View and Wonderful Property Management Company and Owners, but some Maintenance Issues
The view is gorgeous- spacious corner unit with a view of the kite surfers and sunsets and the calm water of the sound. Super easy walk to the beach across the street. In case you are't familiar with the area, this condo sits in a more secluded/non-crowded area of the OBX. This means you won't have the restaurant options of other more populated areas (like Duck, for example) but the options that are there (many that are within walking distance) are quite good. Pizza, coffee shops, and some great seafood options too.
Unfortunately, the condo itself had some maintenance issues that resulted in us cutting our stay a day short. That said, both the owners and the property management company were incredibly responsive to us and took every step to make it right. If First in Fight rentals is managing your property, rest assured you'll be in good hands.
We had a wonderful time at this apartment, with its stunning views of the kiteboarding scene on the Sound, a superb family room / dining room / kitchen combo, a large set of puzzles and games, and spacious clean 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. The gas grill was clean and worked great. We did not try the hot tub.
Minor issues include a) a cap on a bathroom vent that clacked loudly whenever the wind was strong and from the north or east (as is common), impeding sound sleep, b) an above stove microwave that did not provide functioning external venting, and c) minimal toilet paper, garbage bags, soap, etc. We brought issues a) and b) to the attention of management, who promptly sent a service tech. He responded to the noisy vent by saying they were very common on OBx, and dutifully fixing the above stove vent. Item c) was fully noticed on the website in advance, so I could not really complain. But in a place this nice (and pricey) it seems a shame to have to spend a couple hours on your first day inventorying and then shopping for the necessary TP, paper towels, garbage bags, dishwasher soap, hand soap, etc. One option would be for the owners to charge $25 extra to have the place properly equipped for a long weekend visit.
We had a great time, I would suggest adding a full length mirror and replacement of bulbs as a few were out during our stay. Otherwise, great location and the view from the patio was beautiful.
Condo was as advertised. Clean and well kept. View was spectacular. Only recommendation is to add some hand bars in the tubs/showers for the handicapped.
Beautiful views
Not informed of pool closure before securing the reservation. Found out after submitting payment.
Vrbo listing said pet friendly only to fine out after securing payment that additional payment was required for pet stay from the management company.
Toilets from time to time backs up with sewage odor. Not frequently but nonetheless present on occasion.
Elevator extremely slow and shutters- not the most confidence inspiring experience.
