There are numerous water sports opportunities near Anchorage with kayaking, jet skis, canoes, fishing boat charters and dolphin/sightseeing cruises. Walk a little further and experience Shelter Cove Towne Center (www.sheltercovetownecenter.com) with many more restaurants, upscale shopping and Krogers.
