This location is indeed only a quarter mile to the beach - if you can brave walking through the relentless red light district that is Bangla Road. We expected a shopping center, which was close by, but the hotel is actually located in an ally off Bangla which itself is a daily open air all-night bar rave, studded with countless go-go bars, strip clubs, hard-sale street vendors, and sketchy massage parlors. It was "a lot" to be there 24/7. The room was in poor shape: AC was broken on arrival and couldn't be fixed until next day, 28c in the room. Then leaked badly for another 2 days. After 2nd repair, wouldn't get below 24c. Bathroom and bedsheets were dirty, jacuzzi half-filled with gross water, very firm/lumpy mattress, just 2 pancake pillows, and a ...crusty couch. The tub also leaks terribly, the hot water barely turns on so tub is lukewarm. Headboard was broken. The internet, and TV and even power outlets were not working the first day. They take a 150 security deposit then keep it for "damages" that are actually pre-existing conditions. Property management was difficult - separate entity from the hotel and off-site. We had to advocate strongly to get the room into the bare minimum condition for our 8 day stay. I will say that the property management company was responsive (though argumentative) and once the primary issues were attended to, the room was comfortable enough and not too loud outside. However, not a great place for our honeymoon.
