We rent Saturday - Saturday Mid-March - Mid-October. To book, select a Saturday as your start and end date. Book now to reserve your favorite week.

Bring friends and family together at the DolphinInnOBX, a seven-bedroom (12 bed) beach rental cottage in Southern Shores, just south of Duck, NC. Our beach house enjoys horizon ocean views and is a short 1.5-block (four-minute) walk to the beach. Enjoy a private pool, hot tub, pirate ship playground, wrap-around decks, and a landscaped yard. The Dolphin Inn, featured in Money magazine, was recognized for its quintessential beach atmosphere. The Dolphin Inn is pet-friendly, joining many Outer Banks' beaches and businesses.

The Dolphin Inn offers premium amenities like a fully outfitted kitchen, family-friendly gear, a complimentary in-home entertainment package and a guests-only fitness club membership.

The main living area includes a master suite, full kitchen with bar, dining area, and reading corner. The wrap-around decks offer horizon ocean views. The generously appointed kitchen overlooks the welcoming great room with games, 600+ DVD movies, a gas Fireplace, a Large Screen Television with 5.1 channel surround sound and a wide-selection of free movies through NetFlix, Disney+, HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, etc.. The top floor also boasts a King Bedroom with a Private Bathroom and Jacuzzi Tub.

The second floor offers three sunny master bedrooms with private entrances to the wrap-around deck.

The first floor has three bedrooms with bunks and single beds, laundry, a full bath, an outdoor shower, and a Game Room.

Amenities include Free Wireless Internet, Golf Club membership privileges at the local Kilmarlic Golf Course, Gym, Olympic pool, pickleball, and tennis privileges at the WestSide Athletic Club, free boat launching privileges at a nearby Marina, and additional free tennis at nearby SSCA tennis courts. Bowling membership too! It’s just over two miles North to the town of Duck with great shopping and dining. Head South two miles to Kitty Hawk and you’ll find Harris Teeter, Food Lion, Carawan Seafood Co., Wal-mart, and other conveniences.

Entry Level: 3 Bedrooms (Crews' Quarters w/2 Bunk Sets, Pirates' Lair w/ pyramid bunk, Mermaids' Lagoon w/2 Singles), 1 Full Bath, Den with Wet Bar/Fridge/Microwave, Foosball, Streaming Channels, and DVD player. Enclosed Outside Shower and Gas Grill.

Level Two: 3 Bedrooms (Surf Shack w/Queen, Private Half Bath, Nani's Room w/King and Private Half Bath. Surf Shack and Nani's Room share a Tub/Shower, i.e., Jack and Jill Bath. Adirondack Room - 1 Master Suite w/King).

Top Floor: Lovely Living/Dining Area, Gourmet Kitchen w/ Granite Countertop, Gas Fireplace, Half Bath, Captain's Quarters Master Suite with King and Full Bath with Jacuzzi and a Wrap Around Deck.

Perfect Outer Banks Spot

We had such a great stay at Dolphin Inn. Jorge communicated with us and was so helpful even before we got there. Check in was a breeze. The house was exactly as described and perfect for our three families to share for a week. Also - the house had absolutely every little thing you could need - beach chairs, umbrella, toys; fully stocked kitchen with any tools you might need; outlets set up everywhere. And everything labeled and accessible. If you want to feel like you are borrowing a friend’s home for the week, def stay here!

Amazing Stay

What an awesome time we had here at the Dolphin Inn. Jorge the owner was so easy to work with always available with any questions. Our whole family stayed all age ranges and it was fun for all. A short walk to the beach, close to restaurants, and recreational activities as well.

Dolphin Inn stay with family

We had a fantastic time at the Dolphin Inn. We had plenty of space to spread out (4 kids and grandparents) and the location was great. Short walk to the beach and short distance to Duck and Kitty Hawk. It's a great location to explore the Outer Banks! The host was super attentive, helpful and a pleasure to work with! We will be back :)

Outer Banks Family Vacation

Nice house and good location - only a couple miles to grocery stores and seafood market. Beach just a short walk away and a nightly rendezvous to catch the sunset. Very relaxing vacation and good sight seeing adventures. Only negative was we could have used more trash bags and cleaning supplies in the "sample pack". Kids enjoyed the pool which was spacious! Overall, a great family vacation!

This was a great property for our needs. Plenty of room for shared experiences (games, movies, children’s talent show, etc) as well as private space to take a break from the fun or commotion. Lovely pool and play areas. Close walk to the beach, not far from grocery store, short bike ride on bike trail to Duck- or short drive. Many low key interesting sites. Great gym nearby and lots of golfing!

Wonderful family vacation

Our family stayed at this lovely home in Southern Shores. All the beds were comfortable and the house had just about everything you could want. A short 5 minute walk to the beach, great location to Duck and Kitty Hawk, along with a Food Lion 5 minutes away. Great communication with Jorge through the entire process. Thanks!

Family Fun

House is in a great location. Very short walk to the beach. Close to everything but feels secluded. Very private yard and pool. It was very quiet when we sat outside. Well stocked. Owner was amazing and was in communication with us throughout the week! We had four couples, three kids 18-21, six little kiddos and one golden doodle.. The house was full but we all fit comfortably.

It was fine

The house was perfect for 11, though the gathering areas were small. Cannot imagine 17 people which is the listed capacity. Also the road it was on was a busy road which I was not expecting. We did enjoy the beach and pool.

What a welcoming, comfortable beach house for our family of eleven, including four under five! Cousins delighted in challenging their muscles and minds in imagination play on the private pirate ship playground. The home is pleasant, comfortable, with many thoughtful entertainment offerings. Pool, hot tub, convenient walk to the beach. Close enough to take toddlers back and forth multiple times in a day.

Southern Shores the Dolphin Inn Way

Great beach house. Like a mini private resort. Kids loved it and wanted to stay extra days after our week was up. Beach one and half blocks away. Great pool, sauna, beach volleyball. Mother deer and two fawns strolled by property almost daily. Also saw Dollphins while on the beach. Kids couldn't wait to get back to the beach in the evening to see and catch the "Ghost Crabs".Jorge great host and assures your stay will be everything you expected. Southern Shores a great upscale local and convenient to everything like shopping, activities and other towns. Just a great family vacation!

2022 Family Vacation

The Dolphin Inn is a great place to stay. We had 17 in our family stay and the house served us well. Not very far to the beach and we visited the beach all of the time, otherwise spent time in the pool or hot tub. The family loved it. We haven’t been to the OBX in years and the vacation reminded us of why we liked it there so much. Jorge, the owner, was great to talk to. I am big on communication and he provided everything we needed for a great family vacation. Lots of things to do, restaurants galore or just relax while strolling on the beach at sunset with your loved ones. 5 stars for sure.

Fantastic stay with wonderful host

We were a family of 16 from toddlers to grandparents and this house was perfect for our group. The layout of the bedrooms and common areas worked great for us. There are thoughtful details throughout the home; such as a very well stocked kitchen, tons of dvds and board games, even baby gates and pack and plays. When we weren’t enjoying the pool and hot tub, there was plenty of room for us to gather in the main dining and living area for relaxing, playing games and having our meals. We really appreciated the beach chairs and cart for our short walk to the beach. There is a great bike bath out front so we rented bicycles to ride into Duck for shopping and sightseeing. Our host Jorge was extremely gracious and helpful throughout our stay. We can’t wait for a return trip!

Exactly as advertised!

Our group, which consisted of 8 adults and 1 toddler, had the best stay at the Dolphin Inn! We spent most of our time at the pool, which was clean and very well maintained, stocked with plenty of rafts, since our son still isn’t crazy about the ocean. The house itself was beautiful and very clean when we arrived. There was a minor maintenance issue the day we checked in, which we were informed about by Jorge and Susannah prior to arrival and it was taken care of promptly, which was appreciated. The location of the house was great as it was convenient to get to the beach (5 minute walk), drive to Duck for shopping/dinners (10 minutes), or Venture a little farther but only about 15 minutes to the H2OBX water park, which we all had a blast at. We would definitely stay there again and cannot speak highly enough of Jorge and Susannah!

Great beach rental!

We had a fantastic stay at this beach rental property! The location was just right, with a quick 5-minute walk to the beach. What made it even better was the fact that the property provided plenty of chairs for our group of 9 and a wagon for easy transportation – a thoughtful touch that made our beach days even more enjoyable. One of the highlights of this rental was the pool and hot tub. On days when we wanted a break from the sand and surf, these amenities provided the perfect relaxation spot. Plus, they were impeccably clean, adding to our overall sense of comfort. The hosts deserve a special mention for their outstanding communication. From the moment we booked, they were quick to respond and incredibly helpful. They even scheduled a call ahead of our trip to address any questions or concerns we had. In terms of amenities, the well-equipped kitchen with plenty of pots and pans (all organized and labeled) was a pleasant surprise. We made great use of it, especially with the added bonus of a grill for cooking family-style meals for days we didn’t want to eat out. All in all, our stay at this property was truly wonderful. It combined convenience, cleanliness, and superb host communication, making for a memorable beach vacation. I highly recommend this rental for anyone looking to create lasting beachside memories!

Great family vacation home!

Jorge is a great host, and we are very thankful we had the opportunity to rent from him. Weird, right, that I know his name? But that's Jorge. He wants to make sure all of his guests have a great time and everything they could possibly need. He was transparent about everything and went above and beyond to make sure we had all that we need. We didn't have a Crockpot and he was willing to have us buy one and get reimbursed. That's the level of service anyone would want. About the house: We chose this house because of the playground. We had 5 kids under 5 staying, and it was a great way for them to let out some steam! The home is organized with the bunk beds on the bottom floor--perfect so that the littles can't hear you when you are up on the top floor later in the evenings. There were lots of personal touches that made this family-friendly. From the massive DVD collection organized by rating (kid-friendly at the bottom), to the baby gates provided, and even a baby monitor provided (helpful if your kiddos are sleeping on the first floor! If you are looking for a large family home that is close to the beach and packed with amenities designed for a family, this is a great beach house for you. :) The only downside is that you do have to cross a fairly busy two-lane road (the main road into Duck) to get to the beach. But, it's less than a 5 minute walk and didn't alter our plans at all. There are crosswalks available as well!

Family Perfect!

We had a great time at the Dolphin Inn! Our 3 family group just loved this property. It had everything you need for a beach/pool vacation which made packing very easy! Our hosts were extremely attentive and responsive. By the end of our two week stay, they were more like friends than hosts! Can’t wait to come back again.

Everything needed for a great vacation

The house is just as described in the listing. Plenty of space all around. Short walk to the beach (beach chairs and toys at the house). Pool and hot tub were well maintained, and in a gated area that is childproof. Televisions in all bedrooms and common areas, as well as a nintendo wii for the kids. Communication with the owner was very simple and precise. Highly recommend this property.

Amazing home for family vacation

We had an absolutely amazing vacation! The house was very well equipped for a very large group. The owner Jorge was so accommodating and helpful with the whole process! We have rented in that area numerous times and have never dealt with a better owner. He went out of his way to make everything wonderful!

Wonderful stay!

This was our first time at the Outer Banks and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The house was just as advertised with all the comforts of home! Plenty of room for our family to spread out! Jorge was so kind and helpful from the booking to the end of our stay, he even called mid week to check in on us! Definitely recommend!

Fabulous Family Vacation

We had a wonderful time at The Dolphin Inn with three generations of our family. The accommodations were as beautiful as pictured, and our family thought the pool and hot tub were amazing! The short walk to the beach was certainly a bonus. The numerous amenities made it feel like home and the streaming services made for enjoyable family movie nights! Our hosts, Jorge and Susannah, were available via text throughout our stay and checked in a few times to ensure that we had no issues and to answer any questions. I would highly recommend The Dolphin Inn to anyone looking to have a fabulous, memorable family vacation in the Outer Banks!

The best family getaway!

This was the perfect location for our large family vacation. The location of the home is central to the many OBX towns which made them easy days trips too! Our trip included our parents, their three children and spouses as well as 6 grandchildren of varying ages. It was great for everyone. Having the kids downstairs was so fun for them and made the upstairs more relaxing for the adults. The kids swam, played volleyball, played in the pirate playground and in the hot tub, danced with the Wii, played foosball...the list goes on! It was the easiest walk to the beach also. Took about 5 minutes and you were on the sand with a wagon and beach chairs that we didn't have to pack and bring. The kitchen was perfect for many meals we made at home and the decks and hammocks were favorites of the adults...many books read and naps taken. Jorge was so incredible to work with. Super fast with responding and checking in to make sure everything was perfect. We have already recommended it to friends and will be back for sure!

Though we love to travel the world, our best memories happen at the Dolphin Inn. We bought the house when our kids still believed in the magic of pirates and princesses. These days, they don't ask us to play make believe on the Dolphin Inn's pirate ship playground. Still, a little magic happens when we're at the Dolphin Inn. Maybe it's the salt air or the slow pace, but we seem to laugh more. The kids linger longer at the table. They go for walks with us. We find time to play games, tell stories and rewatch favorite movies. It's a special place to our family. Maybe that's why we love to share it with other families. We hope we can help your family make memories at the Dolphin Inn.

The DolphinInnOBX beach house is conveniently located in Southern Shores. Southern Shores is just south of Duck with all their quaint shops, and north of Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head where there are lots of restaurants, shopping, and even putt putt golf and other fun activities for the kids. And Southern Shores has the benefit of private beaches to avoid the crowds.
