The house is well presented and has all the basics to ensure a pleasant holiday stay while you take advantage of all Cairns and the broader region has on offer. My only recommendation would be to add a dishwasher to complete the carefree holiday experience.
This property is comfortable , well maintained and accords with its in-line description . It is convenient to town provided one has a car. It is peaceful and private but Severin Street is a little noisy with vehicular traffic early in the morning.

Thank you for your review! We're glad to hear that you found our property comfortable and well maintained, and that it matched its description. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the noise from Severin Street in the mornings. We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration for future improvements.
This was a funky little house for our Tropicana week in Cairns.
The house is clean and neat. The beds are comfy. A fun restored little place with all the basics for a quiet get away. The bus stop two blocks away which we used daily as we did not have a car. This trip we were happy to forego a car rental.
If you were not familiar with Cairns this location MAY be a little far from the attractions of Cairns.
One recommendation for owner is to consider the issue of mosquitos and lack of screens on most windows,,,, we burned sandalwood sticks and bought mosquito repelling candle to deal with this issue.
But overall, a nice little renovated cottage with a neat, modest, retro tropicana bungalow vibe.

Liked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
Likes: Clean, quite close to the beaches (5 minute drive) comfy beds, Netflix and Prime on cable. Wifi worked well.
To Improve: Two box in the wall air conditioners were quite loud and you couldn't run it in the second bedroom as it was noisy. The ceiling fans on setting 1 (lowest) were quite loud and blew heavily (not comfortable) The bungalow is located right on a busy section of road where work traffic started at around 5am and generally quite noisy until late at night. The apartments next door had a car parking sensor spotlight on all night shining in the bedrooms which made one of the rooms quite light. Nowhere to hang anything, in the bathroom and general towels etc. Need screens on some windows and even front door to allow air in.

Payment and booking troubles
A few weeks before our reservation I received an email that there was an issue with my payment. After extensive email back and forth with the property management group and VRBO I was asked to make payment off platform. This wouldn’t have been an issue, but due to extreme weather and cancelled flights we needed to adjust our stay dates. The property company allowed us to extend our stay but we ultimately had to pay for an extra day we didn’t stay at the property and were given no reason or justification.
Also the property didn’t have enough towels: 4 bath towels, 1 hand towel, and no face towels for our four day stay. The gate to the back grassy area was locked.

Thank you for sharing your concerns, and we apologise for any inconvenience during your stay. We'd like to clarify that the booking platform you booked through doesn't process payments directly; it collects payment information on behalf of the property, and we acknowledge that there were issues with the initial details entered.
We understand the challenges you faced due to weather, and we appreciate your flexibility. The extra day charge was due to our 4-night minimum stay requirement, and we apologize for any confusion. Your feedback has been noted for improvement.
Regarding the oversight with towels, we apologize, and we'll address this with the property management. The gate to the back grassy area has a code, as outlined in the house manual—the same code used to enter the property.
Thank you for choosing our platform. For further concerns, please contact our customer support directly.
We had to leave our furry boys at home in Adelaide, which is a pity because they would have loved this place! Tropicana Bungalow is great for a small family with kids. It has easy FREE parking and a lush back garden with lawn. Located close to the city and esplanade, and not far from the amazing rainforests and waterfalls. We hired a car and found this to be the perfect way to get around the city area and to some beautiful spots close by, where we parked and explored. Thanks for the tip about Brother Jenkins Cafe, we enjoyed the short walk for coffee and lunch while sitting on their verandah, very nice :) Cairns is beautiful and exciting and we can't wait to come back!
The bungalow was perfect for my daughter and I. Fully self contained, private and an easy twenty minute walk into the city. Having the outdoor space was an added bonus. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone who wants there own space. It was also simply gorgeous.
