Welcome to Raven's River Rest; enjoy your stay in a private house at a prime location on riverfront property at the Somass River. The Somass has one of the most extensive Salmon runs from May to October. Bring your fishing rod. There's an outdoor fire pit for those cozy nights around the fire. Families and your fur babies are welcome! We also live on the property adjacent to the guesthouse. Therefore, we kindly request that your pets be socialized and comfortable around other dogs. There is ample parking: free WIFI, a full kitchen, a king-size bed, and bunk beds with double and single beds on top.

Wish we could stay longer

Lovely quiet place with gardens and path to river. Only had one night and would love to have spent more time there- like a week. Hosts are wonderfully friendly.

Great vacation spot

A lovely property with beautiful scenery all around. A well appointed and nicely decorated cabin. A wonderful and friendly couple own and operate the venue. We can't wait to go back again.

Very clean, lots of room, great location. Hosts Don and Linda were very informative of the area and very helpful. Looking forward to hopefully making this a yearly get away.

Restful stay at Raven's River

Great location on a river full of salmon. Owner's Don and Linda shared their salmon catch and plentiful blackberrys with us. The place was clean, comfortable and quiet. Off the beaten path but close to town, grocery, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

A very special family time

The host were wonderful and connected so well with our kids teaching them to fish and learn about the land we were on. The property and entire area is so beautiful and peaceful. Many memorable days at Taylor Arm on Sprout lake, walking in the forests and by the ocean and just hanging out at the cabin and by the river

Lovely, dog friendly spot just outside town

Great house that is spacious and very comfortable even during the summer heat. We had our two large dogs with us, and they loved the property. Owners were great—very warm and quick to respond to anything that came up. And we loved meeting Simba and Bruno the dogs too :)!

Stunning Nature and comfortable rest.

Spotted Towhee, Dark Eyed Junco, Red Breasted Sapsucker, Stellar Jay, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagle, Seal, Deer, Black Bear and hard working yard dog are the creatures we enjoyed spending some time with on our fall trip and those were just while we were on the property. The surrounding area had even more awesome nature to offer. This place had a comfy bed and everything we needed for a relaxing and memorable trip.

Tranquil and Serene

Such an adorable location, right on the river too! Comfortable, clean and very well appointed. Everything you need. Bring along your favorite spices, a good steak and your sun hat, this is the place for a peaceful get-away. Thanks to this host for a wonderful property to share.

Little oasis of calm

We visited from the UK and had a wonderful stay in Port Alberni. Linda and her husband were friendly and welcoming and the rental was spacious and clean with a well equipped kitchen. We loved the river, the views and the wildlife! We wish we had booked longer. 5 stars ⭐️

A little slice of heaven

I can not recommend staying at Raven’s Rest enough. From the moment we saw the river, the stress left our bodies. So quiet, so peaceful. Linda and Don and their 3 awesome dogs were gracious and insightful hosts. Do take advantage of Linda’s cleanse at the river, it is something that I will keep with me for the rest of my life. She is an amazing teacher who embraces her heritage and shares it freely. Truly a hidden gem.

Good Times on the Somass River

Beth and I had a terrific time while staying in this small almost river-front house. Don and Linda were friendly, helpful hosts, and I'm sure that I will never again have smoked salmon quite as good as theirs. The property is close enough to town to drive almost any place in minutes yet far enough out to be bordered by river and forest--with the animals you might expect: ravens, bald eagles, deer, black bear, and chinook salmon. The dock, a short walk from the house, is a great place to sit in the evening to relax with a cold drink, watch the fish jump, and occasionally see black bear on the prowl for the salmon. Don and Linda, thanks for helping us enjoy our stay. Beth and I appreciate the useful and interesting information you gave us about hikes in the area, the history and culture of Port Alberni, and the Orca alert when the whales appeared at the Inlet harbor. Give Simba, Bruno, and Daisy a special scratch and some fish for us!
