A short stroll from the Vaka is the famous Vaima Restaurant. Excellent beachside dining. Car Rental is also 500m away - Go Cook Islands hire cars at reasonable rates with pre booking recommended.

A 10 minute walk will take you to the start of the Wigmores Waterfall track - a gravel track ending at a waterfall (if its been raining).

Another short walk option along the beach from your Vaka will take you to the now famous Turtle Tour beach where you can take a guided tour in the lagoon to swim with the turtles!

We were welcomed with flowers and a beautiful tropical fruit platter. The room was as pictured, very clean and right on the beach. Great swimming beach and we snorkelled. Nice and quiet we cooked most of our meals Thank you for a relaxing holiday my husband and I really needed.

Amazing Bach on the beach

Absolutely fantastic location. The Bach is roomy and has all you can ask for. The deck is large and new and fitted with very comfortable furniture. You can sit there all day listening to the waves and taking in the stunning view. Great king size bed with cotton bed linen. Plenty of towels are provided and there was beautiful flowers and a fruit platter on our arrival. The kitchen has all you can need and the bathroom is nice too. Cannot fault this fantastic Bach - we will definitely be back.

Absolutely loved this accommodation, spent 12 days there as a solo traveller. Perfect beachfront location , quiet part of the Island. With perfect amenities closeby supermarket etc. Swimming, Snorkelling and just enjoying the vibe of the Island. Accommodation had everything I needed for my stay. There is a restaurant very closeby, only open in the evenings. I had cocktails takeaways! But also dined. Dvd store plus pizza . If you are after solitude, well this is the perfect spot.

A Hidden Gem in Rarotonga

Certainly! Here's a polished 5-star review based on your experience:We had the most incredible stay at Vaka Rua – truly a hidden gem! The property is perfectly located, with amazing snorkeling right at the front. The fish were vibrant, and we spotted so much marine life without even leaving the shore.The location couldn't be better – within walking distance to Wigmores, Vaima and Circle Cafe, which was super convenient.We spent our days enjoying the peaceful balcony, alternating between swimming, kayaking, and simply soaking in the beautiful surroundings. It was the perfect spot to relax and unwind.Would absolutely recommend this property to anyone visiting Rarotonga! It exceeded all our expectations, and we can’t wait to return.

Really awesome place!

Really great place, awesome location, all you need. Was kicking myself when we arrived, because i never realized it has no AC. I thought we were destined to a few days of sweating ahead. BUT... the ocean breezes did a wonderful job of cooling the place down. I was worried that a restaurant so close might bring unwanted noise and smells... but there again, not at all. It was really actually pretty great have a good restaurant so close. Would stay again in a heartbeat!!

Vaka View

This property is ideally located on the beach on a quiet side of the island. The view is gorgeous as you watch the waves crashing on the barrier reef a distance from the shore. The barrier reef provides a sanctuary reef that is 2 to 10 feet deep depending on the location and whether the tide is high or low. What makes this location so great is you can walk out the front door on to the white sand and into the warm water to snorkel or kayak. We snorkeled and were amazed at the various fish and the volume of them. We came across a sea turtle enjoying a leisurely meal under the water and a moray eel partially secluded in the carol. It was perfect and we were in the water every day.We hiked to Papua (Wigmore's) Waterfall and on to "The Needle" using the cross island trail which is located very close by. The hosts, Adam and Sara, were responsive to our questions and provided us a bouquet of island flowers, along with some fresh fruit and tasty, sweet bread. The pictures are accurate. The location is perfect if you are looking for the beach vacation with a beautiful view.

Why they chose this property

To be honest - the WOW factor is when you walk on to the deck and realize you are 'hanging' over the beach - as close as you can get! The crystal blue lagoon is right there in front of you ! Grab a kayak and hit the lagoon or take a snorkel and mask and explore the warm waters in the lagoon.

Pleasantly appointed interior, high ceiling with ceiling fan. King bed of course, full kitchen for cooking, fridge freezer, microwave and all the items needed to cook some fresh tuna or whip up a salad. Ensuite with washing machine. TV, DVD player.

Cool and comfortable indoors for afternoon naps and at night. Screened sliding door to the deck, all windows are screened. Large covered deck space for watching the breakers on the reef. Spot the fish in the lagoon on a clear sunny day.

What makes this property unique

Vaimaanga beach and lagoon still maintains a quiet feel as there are no resorts or hotels close by. You will have the beach all to yourselves! The lagoon itself is great for exploring in the kayaks or snorkelling or just to take a dip and cool off. The Vaka sits right over the beach and is something special as there are no other properties this close to the beach so this is beach front ++ at a great price!

Vaka Rua is located a short stroll to the Vaima Restaurant. Ideal for a special night out. Our guests end up visiting many times as the staff are friendly, the drinks are cold and its on the beach front !

There is so much to explore around the island so a vehicle or scooter is a must although many of our guests just take the bus or even hire bikes (incl e bikes) . We can help with this just ask!

We are on hand through your stay to help you maximise your time in paradise - we dont live onsite and are only a phone call away. On booking we provide loads of info and tips on anything incl flights, getting around the island and airport transfers (yes we can arrange those for you). Our aim is to give you all you need so that you have a amazing time here and leave no stone unturned! OR you can just get here relax and unwind in your Vaka and there is no better place to be.
