Beatiful position right near Balingup with very caring hosts.
We stayed here for my birthday, the property was beautiful and we enjoyed looking around the area and exploring in a place we havenβt visited before. The hosts were lovely and very accomodating and the room we stayed in was very cozy. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Lovely peaceful stay. Beautiful property with amazing gardens & abundant bird life including blue wrens. Lovely views from the balcony & great hosts. A wonderful place to stay in beautiful Balingup.
Marita and Ian are both wonderful hosts.
The location is excellent.
The room was spotless and well-designed, with a beautiful view and enough of privacy.
We had an amazing time and would suggest it to others.

Pretty View
Lovely room with verandah views connected to main home. Super bath. Outdoor kitchette is a tad chilly.
Beautiful property in a gorgeous garden. The accommodation is clean, warm and has all you need for a great get away. Take a walk around the farm, or explore the nearby towns. We loved our weekend, the only downside was that it ended too soon.
I could of sat with the hosts and listened to their incredible story for days.

Relaxing and Amazing stay with very welcoming hosts
Every attention to detail in this property. We stayed in camellia suite. Though the kitchenette is outside it felt like a fun adventure and its a beautiful place to have breakfast and watch the birds. The property has lovely little spots to enchant and delight. Every item has been placed with care and thought. The hosts were warm and welcoming and we were invited to walk wherever we pleased. There is a wonderful view from the top of the ridge. The suite is attached to the main house but the hosts Marita and Ian gave us total privacy. Only saw them on arrival and departure. We truly had a wonderful stay and felt very safe

It was our privilege to host Firdos and her daughter and they were the perfect guests, quiet, respectful and left the Camellia suite clean and tidy, we would welcome them back anytime and highly recommend to other hosts.
The property was extremely tidy & clean.
We had a lovely relaxing time on the property which was beautiful. If you are a grass tree lover, well you are in for a treat.
Everything was supplied with a little welcome package of freshly picked fruit, cherry tomatoes, milk & eggs. It was great just bringing what we needed for the weekend.
The hosts Marita & Ian were absolutely amazing, could not do enough for you & were super friendly. They even picked a box of fruit for us to take home to the kids.
Thank you for making our little getaway stress free π

We really enjoyed hosting Jodie and Chris,
Lovely couple and would certainly welcome them again, highly recommend to other hosts.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by the hosts. Marita and Ian are the perfect hosts, so easy to talk with and know how to make things so welcoming with all the little personal touches they put in place. The Rustic Retreat gave us everything we wanted in spades and the location was excellent being just off the South West Highway and equidistant between Donnybrook and Bridgetown. We were able to totally relax and take in the wonderful views from the front of the Retreat. Our sadness at having to go home was counter-balanced by the sight of seven, tiny, newly hatched ducklings down by the ponds as we left. Thank you Marita and Ian.

Dave and Sue thanks for your positive comments, it was lovely to meet you both and a pleasure to share our property with you :-)
Would welcome you back anytime. Marita and Ian
Marita and Ian are the perfect hosts. As a woman travelling alone it was very reassuring to be met by smiling faces and I immediately felt safe. Nothing is too much trouble and your hosts are always around, albeit decretely to help in any way they can. The property is magnificent and immaculate. The room I stayed in had a queen size bed and was very spacious with the most beautiful bathroom including a fabulous claw foot bath to soak in and walk in shower. Immediately outside on the verandah was a small tea and coffee station with a micro wave and bar fridge. The attention to detail was amazing with the added touches of chocolates and milk in the fridge. Ians love of the garden is strikingly obvious with one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. The birds love it there too and I was astounded by the variety that make it their home. The village of Balingup is only 5 mins away making it just far enough away to feel like you have escaped to the country. I highly recommend a visit to this oasis in the South West of Western Australia and intend on booking again as soon as I can. Many thanks to Marita and Ian for your warm hospitality. It was a pleasure to stay with you.

We really enjoyed meeting and hosting Jacki and enjoyed our conversations and suprising connections to other people and certainly look forward to welcoming Jacki back to Marian Ponds again:-)
My wife fell ill two nights before our scheduled arrival and had to present emergently to the hospital for admission. Despite having two days warning, the property owners refused to refund any of our money, and we lost everything for our two night reservation. As a physician myself, I highly recommend against taking the risk of booking a reservation at this property given their inflexibility in the face of a documented medical emergency. They would prefer to take advantage of someone's misfortune to make a financial gain. Inexcusably disgusting behaviour. I don't know how people like this live with themselves. Hope they enjoy the ill-gotten gains.

What we felt was very strange when we received a call from Fleur who was having a medical emergency and asking to cancel booking.
We phoned vrbo and advised of conversation
vrbo sent message to guest saying host is prepared to cancel however please be advised as refunds cannot be issued as it fall out of the policy guidelines and you are not eligible for a refund but the host has kindly offered to provide a refund if another guest books the same dates.
vrbo never received a cancellation request from the guest!!
Above all we sincerely wish Fleur a speedy recovery and excellent health in the future.
What a wonderful slice of heaven 3. Comfortable, had everything you could possibly need & views to welcome.Everything you need is right here but make sure you leave a bit of time to chat with Marita and Ian - so interesting a very welcoming. I donβt think it would matter what age you are or group you are traveling with, this is a great place to stay.

About the host
Hosted by Marita and Ian
We love hosting and have enjoyed meeting our many special guests both local, interstate and from oversea's, its been a privilege to share our beautiful property
Why they chose this property
After living and working in the Kimberley for the past 25 years we decided to retire in Balingup and enjoy a cooler climate and rural life style. The Village of Balingup has a special charm with a very welcoming atmosphere and has many special events including the Famous Medieval Carnivale, Small Farm Field Day just to name a few.
What makes this property unique
A unique statement of our property is a large area of ancient grass trees (over 1000) They look spectacular with the sun streaming through the tall jarrah trees, where red tail cockatoo's are often seen. Walking through this area is easily accessible. Our property is a great place to relax and enjoy country hospitality We are 5 minuites from the Bibbulamun Walking Track Central to many charming South West Towns
