The property was as advertised, It’s an adorable plantation style home. Very convenient to Hilo Town. With a nice renovated kitchen and new washer/dryer. The only drawback was some road noise, but the birdsong in the morning made up for it.
Our entire ohana (family) enjoyed our stay on the Big Island. The location is perfect with a nice little general store across the street. The plantation style of the home made for a very comfortable stay. Excellent showers and a huge kitchen. The property manager (Thom) made us feel at home from the start and was on standby if we needed anything. This was a trip to remember! We’d happily stay here again on our next trip to Hawai’i Island. Mahalo nui loa!!

Enjoyable stay
The house was spacious and comfortable! The only thing my family found difficult was finding it on the first day- my parents arrived first and could not easily see the house number & were nervous about it being the right place. But this is a minor thing (told them to just compare photos to what they see!) and did not affect the quality or enjoyment of the stay.

Hilo stay
We had a great time at this Hilo house. Very close to the scenic route and driving distance to the Volcano park- we got lucky to see the lava late at night on the first day of our stay. House is big and has decent accommodations.
Thomm is good with communication and is easy going as a host.
You will find plenty of mangoes on the ground across the street, excellent lychee to buy nearby and several places to visit along this side of big island.
We would definitely recommend staying here to get to see the Hilo part of the island.
I really enjoyed staying here. It was clean and just so nice. There is no AC however there is a nice cross breeze due to all the windows and the sunshine that comes through is wonderful! It's just a 5 minute drive from Hilo town and it's a straight easy drive. There is some noise due to the main road however it's not bad at all. The sound of the coqui frogs were also enjoyable because it sounds like they are saying "co-qee." If you search up the property on google maps it shows an abandoned bakery however don't worry, the house is right behind it and it does actually exist. The manager Thom is also very responsive and so nice!

Great Stay Near Hilo
Nice stay close to Hilo (5 - 8 minute drive) with everything we needed provided for at the house. Traveled with young kids and a baby and found the house comfortable and clean. Some light construction going on next door but host let us know about it. As other reviews have stated, some road noise during the day but it's just part of the background noise. It does get warm during the day inside the house but cools down at night. Given the locale, there are encounters with critters (frogs, lizards, termites). They don't bother you but they are around. Best part of this place is the kind and helpful hosts. They were available to answer questions, address concerns, and provide tips. We'd definitely stay here again.

From the owner: "Hello Ken, thank you for your comments. Hawaii is green and lush, and being in a tropical climate, it is normal to encounter critters. None are dangerous, but sometimes annoying. Nevertheless, we enjoyed having your family and hope you come back again."

Liked: Check-in, communication
Disliked: Cleanliness, location
Could be cleaner, more transparent about location/surroundings
This home is cute, but lacking in cleanliness. The fridge was clean, but countertops, dishes, utensils were not clean. There were roaches and termites, holes in the screens. Without A/C the open windows were a must. As for the neighborhood, the house next door was being remodeled, so there were many people in and out with our driveway being blocked. I walk every morning and evening, and did not feel safe walking in this neighborhood as there were some individuals living in their cars. Staying here without our husbands and having our children with us was not ideal. The owners are very kind but not the home or area we expected.

wonderful house
Celebrated my 40th here with friends and had a wonderful time. It is a comfortable, clean and lovely house.
Our family of 6 ranging from 28 to 88 enjoyed this charming plantation style house for 2 nights. The location was perfect for the end of our long drive from Kailua-Kona; just outside Hilo town, and close to the botanical garden and Akaka Falls. We appreciated the large kitchen and dining/living area, as we prepared our dinner and breakfast at the house, and there was enough seating for 6 people. The kitchen was pretty well equipped, but it was a little difficult finding things needed for cooking as they were scattered among several drawers/cupboards. Knives are all serrated and there was no vegetable peeler. Appliances worked perfectly. Bedrooms were well furnished, one bedroom is pretty small but the other two are more spacious. The house faces the main highway so there is traffic noise but it slows/stops in the evening so it's quieter. When we stayed there was a tenant living downstairs and we were asked to respect quiet hours so if you are a night owl be aware. Overall, a very comfortable and well furnished house. Thank you for helping us make memories!
Amazing house with all the amenities! It was great they had beach supplies so we didn't have to pack them. Thom was an awesome host. He gave us great tips and was very responsive and was the first to welcome us on the island when we landed.
Everything about our stay was great. Our property manager had everything ready and was very responsive. The house was adorable, clean, and stacked with everything we needed. It was furnished beautifully and was very comfortable. The kitchen was spacious! We loved this house and would definitely stay there again on our next trip to the Big Island!
