This is a great location in Southie! Walking distances to restaurants and shops, and easy into access into Boston. The accommodation is a little quirky - the bedroom is tiny but it's comfy and good sleeping. The bathroom is split with shower and good sink in one area and the toilet with a small sink in another. Took a minute to figure it all out, but for the price the quirkiness is easy to accept. The only real issue was the lack of a space for my suitcase to be laid out. I was a solo traveler to visit my daughter for a weekend. If my husband had joined it would have been tricky. I did find a place to hang clothes in the kitchen the day I was leaving. As I said, a tad quirky, but the price was right. Finally finding the alley was tricky. The address brings you to the front door of the house, but the entrance to this is behind the house via a small side walkway on the side street - you can't pull in with a car in the back alley - just FYI to fellow renters. I'd use it again for a quick visit.
First, the host was very nice and helpful throughout our stay, which we appreciated. The location was also great, with lots of walkable restaurants nearby. As a younger couple visiting Boston for the first time, it was a fun trip but the weather restricted some of the outdoor activities that we could have done. However, there were a few things that were different from what we expected based on the listing photos. The pictures are a bit deceiving, as the first exterior photo shows the main street-facing unit, which makes it seem like that is where you will be staying. In reality, the unit is located in the basement of that building and is only accessible through the back alley.Inside the unit, the ceilings are quite low, and we had to duck when entering. The bed is positioned wall-to-wall, which makes the space feel tight and leaves very little room for belongings.Parking was also somewhat difficult to navigate. While the neighborhood is very walkable, public parking ended up being about a 15-minute walk away, which wasn’t ideal during the winter season. The bathroom layout was unusual, with the toilet and shower in separate spaces. The shower room had a window without a curtain, which was visible from the outside, and the front door is mostly glass, making the interior visible from outside as well.Lastly, since the unit is in the basement, you can hear the tenants upstairs quite clearly. They weren’t intentionally loud, but we could hear most of their movements.

We are glad you enjoyed the great location near so many walkable restaurants. We use professional photographers to ensure our images accurately reflect the property; the rear entrance and interior layout are pictured in our listing, though we also include street views to provide neighborhood context. To enhance guest privacy, we have added a window treatment to the shower room as you suggested. This unique layout, with the shower and laundry separate from the toilet, is designed for guest convenience and is visible in our photos. Please keep in mind that this is an urban, garden-level unit, so some ambient noise from upstairs and a more compact layout are to be expected. While we do not provide on-site parking, we strive to be clear about this in our listing so guests can plan to use public transit or nearby garages. Thank you for your feedback as we continue to improve the guest experience.
Great Boston experience! Everything was clean and the host was quick to respond to any questions. Definitely don’t recommend a car, just use the fantastic metro system.
Boston neighborhood, brownstone basement apt. w/ back entrance down alley type lane. Compact, yet efficient with everything you need. 5 minute walk to bus line, & 10 minute walk to Dorchester bay & castle island beach areas. 10 minute drive to Kennedy Presidential Museum. Great visit to Boston.

South Boston visit
We recently spent 3 nights at this well equipped unit. The basement apartment unit has what we needed and was comfortable for our visit. The unit is located in a quiet residential area but local services (meals, groceries etc) are all available within an easy walk. Bus service to downtown Boston is frequent, cheap and only a couple of blocks away. Nice trails and beaches are also only a few blocks away and perfect for morning or evening walks/jogs. Queen bed was very comfortable and A/C worked great. Minor comments: you will experience some noise from unit above (footsteps, louder noises tv etc) but this did not bother us. The tv did not work but this seems to be a broader internet issue in the immediate area that is known and needs to be addressed. In summary we enjoyed our stay - it was very easy to get to South Station and downtown and it was a nice refuge after full and busy days experiencing downtown Boston.

Great Hosts
My check in was last minute. The hosts went out of their way to get the place ready and we're available at a phone call. Great bed too. Needed sleep after an 18hr journey and 2 days of work. Slept like a baby.
Location is great too. Close to the South end and walkable distance to a small beach.
What a great trip to Boston. The rental was everything it needed to be. It was clean and the owners were very responsive to any questions. It is located just blocks from the South Boston Harbor Walk and bus routes into Boston. We had not trouble finding our way around. We found good restaurants within walking distance and felt safe walking everywhere.
