Convenient and comfortable spot to stay while visiting beautiful Quebec City.
The apartment is clean and comfortable, and communications and check-in processes were straightforward.
Out of the 8 days we stayed, we experienced a couple of noisy evenings from the downtown bar crowd.
Overall we were pleased and would return!
We spent 4 nights at this sweet pad and mostly found it a very positive experience. It's well set up for basic cooking and is located in a great neighbourhood, lots of amenities, shops, and restaurants near by. It's an easy walk to many art galleries and Old Quebec, which was helpful. Good sound proofing inside, We didn't even hear the neighbours or people upstairs.
As others noted, there was some noise from outside (like early morning construction, and loud talking on the weekend evenings) but not surprising given the central location. One thing to note - we thought that parking was included based on how the listing reads (mentions onsite parking)- but it's not, you will need to explore the paid parking options in the neighbourhood.
Overall a good stay - would stay there again and recommend to others.
I stayed in this apartment for a week with my mom and 2 kids (ages 5 and 1.5). The location is indeed very handy as it's well surrounded by various commodities (buses, supermarkets, restaurants, shops) but the street itself lacks a certain appeal: huge garbage bins were located in front of the appartment and were shared by other buildings which meant trash would be piling just outside, every day. Even when the city would come clean it up, it was never ever clean.
For a city apartment and as per the ad, the apartment had one closed bedroom, an open dining room/kitchen/living room/2nd bedroom and a bathroom. All in all in terms of size, we got what was advertised.
However, the cleanliness lacked a bit. It wasn't "unsanitary" but it wasn't clean. We never expected spending our first night sweeping (no vacuum) and mopping the floors... the cupboards needed cleaning as well and some ustensils were right out dirty.
Speaking of ustensiles, I get that it's a tiny apartment for 4 person max and I wasn't expecting a chef like kitchen but a couple of basic stuff would have been nice: like a frying pan whose telfon didn't transfer to my food, or a can opener that actually worked (I bought one as well as a peeler at the dollar shop nearby).
Finally, it would have been nice to know in the ad that the pictures were taken a while ago as the apartment looks nowhere near as "new" in the photos. Not that I was expecting something brand new but it came a bit of a shock when there were such a huge discrepancy between the photos and the actual thing. Your bathroom needs renovating by the way.
In conclusion, not worth the price.
We were a bit taken aback by our first walk to find the apartment. The neighbourhood seems to be the gathering place for many homeless/street people; and frankly, I would have been afraid to stay here by myself. On a number of occasions, there were loud, obviously delusional people shouting outside of the building.
The apartment entrance is directly in front of a huge number of garbage bins, all of which were overflowing with garbage throughout our 5 day stay. The foyer, elevator and staircase are dirty and very narrow. I will say that at no time, was the front entrance unlocked, so it appears that people are being careful with the locks.
Once inside the apartment itself; it is obvious that the entire unit needs significant upgrading. I guess we should have known from the great price that we weren't getting a 5 star accomodation, but this was definitely not as attractive as the photos indicated. The beds were very soft; the pillows are disgusting!! Flat and smelly! The bathroom needs to be gutted, especially the bathtub. Getting into and out of the shower is slippery and actually dangerous.
On the 'surface', things seemed adequately clean, but on closer look, a major cleaning is long overdue, e.g., the fans were thick with sticky dust; the blinds and windowsills are filthy, the hair blower was almost plugged with debris, etc. The whole place gave me the heebie-geebies!!
The one positive comment that I can make is that the location made for easy walking to the old town, to a bus hub, to the port, etc.
I would not consider staying here again.
Building itself is quiet and soundproofing very good. There is street noise, like garbage trucks and early morning street cleaner, and revellers. There is no air conditioning so it is hot on hot days. Isabelle is an attentive and responsive host. You can see the city easily by foot from this apartment- my favourite part and- close to great bakeries and cafes!
The photos of the inside were accurate even if made to look better than it really is. But the outside was a completely different neighbourhood than I had expected and it wasnât nice. You also had a ways walk to old Quebec. I would find something else.
