About this property

Acreage, Somerset dam,100yr old renovated homestead, near The Spit.

This lovingly restored Queenslander on a 400 ac working cattle property sits on a rise overlooking Mt Brisbane and is on the outskirts of the picturesque township of Somerset Dam Village. Only 1.5 hours from Brisbane It is centrally located between the townships of Kilcoy, Toogoolawah and Esk and the main attraction of the area is the Somerset Dam Spit 3 kms distant which abounds with day troopers, boaties, skiers, campers but our verandah bath is a work of art and pleasure.. We are not a wedding venue even though it looks like it could be. We have no licence for such events. This is a place for relaxation with five of your friends or relatives. No events are allowed. The house is recently restored and needs respectful guests who value this exceptional house and contents. The decor is set in the early 20th century and is a result of collecting parents and grandparents styled furniture. The rotunda finished in 2023 completes the intended ideal of being able to view the panorama from all parts of a compass. come and visit.

Really enjoyed our stay here and property owners were great to deal with, flexible and very accommodating. Very quiet and peaceful with being close to dam. Will stay here again

Loved the character and originality of the property. I grew up on a farm so it brought back lovely m
Although we loved the serenity of the property I just have a couple of feedback comments. Firstly it would be good if there was a way to have flatscreens on most of the windows. It was stifling hot and we couldn’t keep windows open at night because of the insects. The ac only cooled that one room. The bed in bedroom closest to kitchen fell apart and we couldn’t get a response from the owner so we moved the mattress to the living room. Apart from that we loved it

Australia day weekend
House close to the dam and loads of room to park boat, yet enough away to feel the tranquillity. Loved the cows and exploring the property. Check in made easy with great communication from host.

My husband and I are retired teachers. My husband is an ex Manual arts teacher who has crafted this once very old house poorly maintained into its present Stirling condition.

Why they chose this property

Once we saw how the house was returned to its former glory we wanted others to enjoy the sanctuary of our property in the vicinity of the wonderful Somerset dam and realised it had too many features to be hidden away.

What makes this property unique

It is a beautiful home which has been furnished with details referring back to the early 1900's. We are a working property with up to 70 cows and calves who have the run of the place. The recreational area The SPIT which caters for fishing folk and many skiers is so close and guests have said how fun it is to escape the bustle of the The Spit and return to ours in the late afternoon. A nive little retreat.
